then keep using what you need and work on your techniques. you need to start somewhere. The rest will come

You can start with Clairefontaine Etival or Bockingford. Its cheaper, but very VERY doable for studies. Its cellulose but Acid Free and Takes quiet a bit. did my whole studies on Clairefontaine Etival!
Also good for Gouache and even did some acrylic and collage on them! Milan, JAX - hair and Da Vinci have some very affordable watercolor brushes ( Da Vinci Cosmotop, Nova, Colineo, Kolinsky, Maestro, etc You can go for sizes 4,6, 8/10 That will give you a good start) This is a personal preference, but general rule here is that if you work with WATER color you need a brush that can hold water in the bristles.
My Current favourites are 100% cotton paper Saunders Waterford Hot Press, my Silver Black velvet brushes in size 8 and 4 Round, Winsor and Newton Watercolor Sable 13mm flat brush, and Rembrandt Petit Griss in 10 (Mop)
I use Sennelier watercolor, Combined with Rembrandt watercolors.
