The Actor who portrayed the Iconic Part was the English actor, bodybuilder, and weightlifter David Prowse, but that Iconic Voice came from the Man Himself James Earl Jones. You see George Lucas originally considered Orson Welles for the role, but selected James Earl Jones instead after deciding that a Welles's voice would be too recognizable to audiences.
James Earl Jones initially felt his role was too small to warrant recognition, and he chose to be unaccredited in Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back. It was not until in Return of the Jedi in 1983 is where he was finally credited for the part.
The Iconic Costume: Darth Vader's costume was designed by John Mollo and combined a motorcycle suit, clerical robes, a German military helmet, and a military gas mask. The Helmet, Darth Vader's iconic mask was created by artist Ralph McQuarrie by combining a samurai helmet with a full-face breathing mask. That Amazing Breathing sound of Darth Vader's breathing was created by Ben Burtt, the film's sound designer, using modified recordings of a scuba breathing apparatus.
