I think you need to rewatch the Original Xenoblade 1 DE trailer. They tease Future Connected in almost the EXACT same way they teased this new content in X. Short clip at the end of the trailer that fans instantly recognize as new. We didnt get any details on what exactly was new until the second trailer. basically I fully expect a fully new epilogue expansion. and yes advertising it will be hard without spoiling the twist at the end of the OG game
To be fair there's one difference. XC1 DE trailer shows a new area, which was recognize, and while they could have tied it to the original game it make more sense to have it as a regular expansion (like Torna or Cent-Omnia are separate areas). But XCX DE trailer shows an alternate cutscene of what we knowed. I think it would be additional story and maybe without new (big) area, so maybe an epilogue but following the existing story as a new chapter(s) and not separated like FC.
Also I prefer if they implement the new story elements into the main game rather than making a separate thing, where you kinda start from scratch and have to level up again and gain skills etc
Especially considering Xenoblade X has an actual post-game, the game does not end after the final boss, so having the new story content be a new post-game chapter instead of a separate campaign makes the most sense.
I agree with you , but for a different reason. Because of the Online stuff , they would most likely add new Story elements between the prior existing chapters and maybe directly at the end. Not as a seperate DLC type short game. Usually devs dont have a reason to hide the identity of someone by hiding their face , if you have no way of knowing who the guy is. But this would totally make sense if the dude actually appears earlier in the plot somewhere. So i think they will add this guy between the prior existing chapters , and so that you dont immediately recognize the dude when you first see him , he was covered in the end of the trailer.
I honestly believe they won’t put toooooo much story into it because I really think they wanna do a sequel to it and that X is the direction they wanna go in the future
@ yeah most of the bosses didn’t really have a background story. So would be nice if they add more story to them. Actually there is soooo much they need to explain LOL
Could go either way; they're setting up for a sequel, or the story will have like 5 more chapters and wrap everything up so they can move on. I'd prefer the former, but I'd be okay with the latter.
I don't thhink Takahashi would miss an opportunity to link his games and Xenoblade X receiving a Definitive Edition is no coincidence to me. That doesn't mean they would necessarely have the project to continue with Xenoblade X from the get go but just at least finish the story properly. My theory is that a Xenoblade X 2 was envisioned at the time but they probably reorganized their plans and decided to give us a part of this hypothetical Xenoblade X 2 directly in Xenoblade X to continue the story and not finish on a cliffhanger. At the same time, I also think this Definitive Edition will serve as a test to see if there is enough interest in the X series. Then maybe we'll see Xenoblade X 2. I don't think there will be a big story DLC like Future Connected either though. I think this configuration capitalizes the most on all the possibilities and is the best outcome we could get. But honestly I think continuing the X series is a good idea to keep a good spin-off series to please other fans. Making this series canon doesn't necessarely imply the characters would have to interact with each other though. Well, it already happened but I mean canonically.
What if a little retcon is that claus experiments was one of some solutions to save mankind that went wrong, taking with him the counduit to these new realities, and old earth was left behind without other solution than exodus?
I mean, if X DE has 5 to 8 more chapters... There's way more tan enough rom to explain everything, without relying on a whole different game that would need to reintroduce cpncepts first, and would sell less because it'd likely need to be a direct sequel. Especially if you consider that those chapters 13, 14, 15, etc. would each add more side content too, and maybe new recruitable characters to develop even more stuff, more post game, maybe even new areas, etc. plus possibly even more story added in the base game too, before chapter 12. But since the "Definitive Edition" has no particular design like how 1 DE had feathers, to me that means it won't have its own standalone story, but a continuation. So my bet is more capters, they explain a lot of stuff, but somehow end up leaving us with even bigger questions than in 2015
I would love a FC-like story where Lao and the Black Knigh are the main characters, and it'd take place around new tokyo, etc. But that could also be the story for the new chapters, and the location for Xenoblade X II. (and the base game could still have more locations, either a coninent far away, and you may even need another special skell upgrade to reach it, because otherwise you'd drown or something because it's too far away, or the other solution is go the TOTK route and add an underground, you'd likely access through the wrothian ruins)
I remember an interview after FR where takahasi said that he wants to do something more sci-fi. I think expanding X makes for connecting it to the Trilogy far more appealing. If Mira would be the reunited worlds it would be awesome to explore the whole thing. Because i cant imagine a world this big in a future xenoblade game because the world was always also a plot device (for X its the Same but in a different Way). I think i would rather wish to expand it then just creating X2 because i dont think they can recreate the same Experience. But for an X2 i see more of a story focused approach and it would also be awesome
I don't think we will ever get a XCX2. At best, they will try to tie X into the mainline franchise. X doesn't need to be its own "sub-franchise", and its better to incorporate some of the characters and themes once they have retconned some stuff, into XC4. Then they bringing as much of the fanbase as possible into the next game, just like they did with XC3 merging XC1 and XC2. It could be sick to see not just the worlds of XC1 and XC2 combined fully in XC4, but maybe Mira as well.

Either way they go, we still won.
I honestly don't care what they do I trust it'll be epic 🔥🔥🔥

I would hope if they add some extra in the base game. Like more on the villains like Goetia, Rize, and Dagahn.

I want the chance to drive regular cars/chopper or battle vehicles besides skells, that would be great
Or, or they bring it into Canon, and they hint towards a X2😮
When xenoblade 1 DE was first revealed, future connected was not announced up until the second trailer, so you are off in that one.

xenoblade chronicles Y, xenoblade chronicles Z new trilogy incoming 😋
Now about xenosaga. Would also love koudelka and shadow hearts.
