It's a cold night here in Chicago but this transports me to the warmth of a night in Hawaii.
Hawaiian is such a beautiful language. I shake my head in thinking it was banned in school in the past. We should all be proud of our heritage and especially our language,
This song was written by Queen Liliuokalani in 1887. She was just a young girl travelling with Queen Kapiolani to the jubilee celebration or Queen Victoria's 50th year of reign in England.
I started listening to Hawaiian music through Playing for Change shortly after my second cancer diagnosis . This beautiful peaceful and yet strong music has helped me deal with the days when life gets rocky . It helps bring me back to a peaceful place and allows me to continue on and enjoy life . Thank You and Aloha .
Aloha
Aloha and hope you’re doing well ❤️

Lived there for 2 years and listening to hawaiian songs its heavenly so soothing.
I find Hawaiian music soothing to the soul. Listening to their music to remember those lost this week and sending love from Florida to all those that lost loved ones.
Beautiful voices & a tribute to Queen Liliʻuokalani. Always for Weldon... mahalo ā nui!

You have lots of company. A mystical place with inspirational music, waves, trees, food, and aloha spirit. Too bad the average person can't afford a small bungalow. ;-(
Just beautiful mahalo Weldon and gang
when Hearing Hawaiian songs, I remember my late father who really liked Hawaiian songs
A gift more precious than gold. Aloha, respect, and friendship wrapped in glorious music and presented in poetic imagery. How great a ho'okupu to give to one's friend and fellow mo'i. What a wonderful gift to her people.
Beautifully interpreted and masterfully performed. This music reminds me of my mother, who loved Hawaii and its music. So happy she was able to visit Hawaii before she passed away. Thank you for sharing your wonderful music.

Wow Vance...nice set up for optimal sound..simple yet powerful!! Mahalo Weldon and friends for this performance!!
I shed tears as I listen to this song that these 3guys. I just hope that people in the world to know this song for Hawai’ian history. I really love this song. I really want to perform this song in Japan or Hawaii for introducing it and showing respect to Queen Liliuokalani, all Hawaiian people and Weldon 3 guys band with my vocal and playing the bass guitar. So I have been looking for the guitarists who can play with me for a long time but I haven't yet... Unfortunately, this song doesn't well-known in Japan and most people in Japan are not interested in Hawaiian history even though they prefer Hawaiian style or Hawaiian taste. so sad.. but no matter what it takes, I definitely will perform this song in the future! Thank you for posting this! I will play this song someday! I’d love to! I need to! Is there anyone who wants to play with me?
This song is so special!! I love it ! Weldon ur awesome
Mahalo, Weldon! This song is unmatched in its lyric, melody, and harmony. Incredible musicianship. My favorite of not only Hawaiian Monarchs, but of all historical and humanitarian icons: Queen Lili'u'okalani. I love and admire everything about her. Brilliant. Talented. Curious. Majestic yet so personable. Witty. Funny. Charming. Poet. Composer. Author. World Traveler. Diplomat. Ambassador. Unfairly Imprisoned. Beautiful. Graceful. Dignified. Proud. Listen to Bobby Moderow's milk-and-honey sweet version of Queen Lili'u'okalani's humorous and hauntingly melodic song, "Sanoe". What is it about you Honolulu Boys Choir alums-- your voices are silky smooth and so enchanting! Mahalo, mahalo, MAHALO!
Hawaiian is such a beautiful language. I shake my head in thinking it was banned in school in the past. We should all be proud of our heritage and especially our language,
This song was written by Queen Liliuokalani in 1887. She was just a young girl travelling with her aunty to the jubilee celebration or Queen Victoria's 50th year of reign in England.
LYRICS - "QUEEN'S JUBILEE" - by Queen Lili`uokalani to honor Queen Victoria on her 50th year of reign (jubilee)
Mahalo piha, Mōʻī ʻo ʻEnelani
Kuʻi kou kaulana nā ʻāina pau
Na kai ākau nā one hema
ʻIkea kou ʻihi mana nui
Eia mākou i kou kapa kai
I kou lā nui Iubilī
I hiʻi mai i kou mākou aloha
Maluna ou ka malu o ka Lani
Hauʻoliʻoli ʻEmepela o ʻInia
I kēia makahiki Iubili
ʻĀkoakoa nā aliʻi ʻaimoku
A puni ke ao holoʻokoʻa
E hi`ilani e mililani
Ua hui pūʻia me Hawaiʻi
E uhi mai ka lani i kona nani
E ola ka Mōʻī ke Akua
[ENGLISH LYRICS]
All hail to you, Great Queen of England
Fair Queen who rules over land and sea
From northern seas to southern shores
Your way is known both far and near
We come to your shores, gracious lady
On this great day of your Jubilee
To bring kind greetings from afar
May heaven bless you, long may you reign
All hail, all hail, Empress of India
In this your year of Jubilee
Now kings, queens and princes great
Have all assembled here today
To pay due homage and reverent love
Hawaii joins with loyal fervor
May Heaven smile on you
God bless the Queen, long may she live
Thank you so much for the lyrics. I will share them.
Great sound mix real studio quality.
To make a video like this in a living room is genius! Perfect sound engineering, lighting, and camera work. The songs themselves are too beautiful. You don't need outrageous makeup, costumes, or confetti launchers to make wonderful music. You just have to be Hawaiian with a deep understanding and appreciation for the music, the people and the culture. Mahalo, Weldon. Mahalo!
Hi.
At 55 it has always been a dream to go to Hawaii.
Next October I will be there so I wanted to research the culture.
The music is so beautiful!
For being such a gorgeous place, the culture seems to match.
so beautiful, reminds me of when my mom and my aunties would dance to this song! chicken skin all the way!
... written on a visit to England for Victoria's Jubliee ... thanks for posting!
Hawaiian music perfection as demonstrated by Weldon Kekauoha being assisted by Jack Ofoia on lead guitar and Alika-Boy Kalauli IV on bass.
vancemo ,I think Jack Ofoia is on Bass.
Love to hear this beautiful song again and again
Absolutely heavenly. Beyond words!
BEAUTIFUL!!
I loved Queen Victoria because she loved Hawaii. With my love for Hawai'ian music, I'm almost ashamed I'm a white mainlander. I wonder how many white men say this - or apologize for annexing and steeling your Island? I do. I'm sorry my ancestors stold your island country. I have a new respect for Queen Victoria..... Aloha & Mahalo
Oh it's fine the past is the past bro. No worries! Go to my channel and theres a whole playlist on Hawaiian music
Happy Easter from Boston, MA

Keith Spriggs No reason to apologize, ancient history. Just enjoy the music and remember and learn from past mistakes. Treat people with kindness and that will go a long way. Peace and Aloha

Beautiful Hawaiian mele (song) written by our late Queen Liliʻuokalani to Her Late Majesty Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom after they had attended her golden jubilee in London, England in the late 1880s. Mahalo nui!
it would be nice if most Hawaiian Singers would respond to their fans, so far only Josh Tatofi did on the availability of his CD Pua Kiele.

Such beautiful Ki Ho’alu. I sometimes play this beautiful music in the background whilst I'm doing other things, this music makes me happy. There are so many other favourite genres I like such as Cajun (e.g. High Life Cajun Band), Zydeco (e.g. Lisa Haley and The Zydekats), Bluegrass (e.g. The Petersens), Hillbilly (e.g. The Hillbilly Gypsies), Mountain Music (e.g. Mainers Mountaineers), Dixie Music (e.g. The Carter Family), Country Music (e.g. Willie Nelson, Randy Travis, Merle Haggard, Rosanne Cash etc) Australian Country Music (e.g. Troy Cassar-Daley, Lee Kernaghan etc.) Oklahoma Country Music (e.g.The Tractors), Beautiful Indonesian Music (e.g.Ismail Marzuki, Gamelan meets Orchestra), Beautiful Ambient Music (e.g. Fridrick Karlssen), English Folk Blues (e.g. Pete Stanley and Wizz Jones), American Blues (e.g. Leadbelly (Midnight Special) and Hoyt Axton (Cocaine) Big Bill Broonzy (Guitar Shuffle),
I also like Reggae (e.g. Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff etc) ... and a polar opposite, I also love Chinese and Taiwanese Music (Jessica Ho, MUSA, OctoEast, Teresa Teng etc.) there are two singers called Jessica Ho, I think one is Korean but it's the Chinese one I like, she sings songs such as Wo Ai Ni. I also like many other singers such as Elvis (e.g. The Trilogy), Rod Stewart (e.g. The First Cut is the Deepest), Fats Domino (e,g, Blueberry Hill), Paul Anka (e.g. Oh Carol/Lonely Boy etc),, Helen Shapiro (e.g. Walking Back To Happiness etc), Max Merritt and the Meteors (e.g.Slippin' Away From Me), Billy Fury (e.g. Half Way to Paradise), Eddie Cochran (e.g. Three Steps to Heaven), Buddy Holly (e.g. Words of Love), The Beatles (e.g. Love Me Do/Hey Jude), Manfred Mann (e.g. Do Wah Diddy Diddy), The Hollies (e.g. Carrie Anne), The Everly Brothers (e.g. All I Have to Do is Dream), The Eagles (e.g. Take it to the Limit/Hotel California) The Shirelles (e.g. Will you still love me tomorrow), Fleetwood Mac (e.g. Don't Stop/Go Your Own Way) etc. and loads more, too many to mention. My very favourite Album is called 'To all the Girls' and it's full of beautiful duets, Willie Nelson and some of the best female singers such as Sheryl Crow, Rosanne Cash. Carrie Underwood, Norah Jones, Tina Rose and Brandi Carlyle etc. Out of all my above favourites, Hawaiin Slack Key is right up there near the top.
Beautiful music for the soul.

Lovely
Vivian, thank you for the wonderful comment as it helps to validate all the work the sound team does to record and produce the best sound we possibly can. It was amazing to work with these fantastic musicians and when people are as good as these guys, it's actually very easy to make the recording sound good.
