His Squat clinic and squat 2.0 REALLY helped me years ago. I alway come back to it as a lifter. Although I think he's the only person on this Planet who don't need his squat clinic.
I can deep relaxed squat for loooong periods of time... I do the deep squat everyday but your routine had me laughing in joy the first few seconds, I'm going to incorporate the sideways motion... But my laugh is more like, I've been thinking sideways might be dangerous, thinking about the hip obviously it was made to do the sideways things too otherwise we couldn't turn around and it's so simple! Listen to your body and work into the "pain" soon the pain will turn to a signal and that signal is not bad like REAL PAIN, that electric pain, no no... Listen closely even if the words are some you don't want to hear that is also your brain growing and becoming more wise. Listen closely listen closely. Thank you Ido! Bless!
Hey love the music, Nick Drake, 'm starting this tomorrow. Thank you so much. I've been doing similar stuff for years-nice to see a really refined higher level-excited to learn more.
Excellent video. You can defiantly reap excellent benefits from this exercise set, not only for your health, but also for Martial Arts applications such as kicks!
pretty sure its ankle flexibility. so the first movement you see in the vid, and slowly move your foot further away from the wall. (while maintaining flat feet). that's my guess. but if Ido says i'm wrong go with his recommendations lol
Hello could put back the video on squat clinic , cause i'm a beginner and new to your method and im very interested about unlocking my tight ankles and tight hips. Thank you
With a weight held in front of me, I can get into the full squat with the heels on the floor.. otherwise I'll lose balance and fall over..not terribly uncomfortable just a balance thing...
Carrying extra weight might make it a little more difficult, but to do low squats, you have to have full mobility in your hips. Try this: www.t-nation.com/training/third-world-squat
Even more importantly, you have to have full mobility in your ANKLES. What Philly Boy Roy is describing is a symptom of inadequate ankle mobility ("If I go further, I'll fall backward). Thankfully, at the time of his post, if they continued their routine with the weight for balance, they would develop the increased mobility needed with minimal need for much else. For those with ankle mobility that they are completely unable to reach a 90º angle squat even with ballast, your description and link won't help much. It's not because of their hips. Their ankles simply can't bend deep enough (yet) because certain bones have fused in ways that make it really hard to correct.
Hi Ido Portal, Can you please tell me what to do for ankles specifically for Posterior Tibial strengthening. We all will be thankful to you once again. THanks
Probably already is. Getting paid 1500 plus up front by thousands of people a year, plus he is now working with Conor Mcgregor who we all know is banking more than any fighter ever on a per fight basis.
Yes, I agree with that entirely. It's very hard to coach the stuff he is capable of strictly through online tutorials because it is so fluid. The bars bros are teaching mostly static holds of challenging positions. The thing most people are interested from Ido is learning how to flow on the floor like water, which cannot be taught through only online tutorials. Too many variables, too many nuances and far too many moves that can be mixed in innumerable ways. This is why quite a few people complain about the online coaching. If you're an absolute beginner you need a face to face workshop to start building your foundation for movements of the caliber that he teaches.
My heals don't touch the ground when I squat. I'd be so grateful if someone could recommend a good resource to guide me through this area of flexibility. Many thanks. Paul.
Thanks for sharing such valuable information! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (air carpet target dish off jeans toilet sweet piano spoil fruit essay). How can I transfer them to Binance?
Hmmm, I've grown interested in Ido Portal's unique exercises and I'm curious about what exactly are the benefits of a mastery of the squat position. I understand that it was originally human's natural rest position, but what is the benefit 'now'?
love the videos i really appreciate it! Would love to see more. Where can i find a list of when/ where your workshops are? I am in school but can travel at certain times. thanks!
ive severely sprained my ankle about 2 months ago and my recovery process has been slow. ive been sticking to mostly yoga and dynamic stretching and band resistance training for my therapy. i recently started using a band to help me get into a full squat but i still feel very weak and a strong stretch within my weak spot. I'm staying patient but I'm also curious to ask if this squat routine will help create strength within my ankle. My biggest problem is that ive broken both my ankle's in the past, have have had surgery on both, so im really looking at increasing mobility and strength before i head to china to train in the wudang mountains. any help would be totally appreciated
GMB has videos on ankle mobility if you are still interested… 5 years later… The host of the video also had a broken ankle so I’m sure he would be the one to know what works.
If I fall backwards when going down in a flat foot squat, like you are doing it, is it caused by weak muscles or lack of mobility somewhere, like achilles?
Is this video enough for me to rehab my bad squat or do you recommend something else if I really want to dive in? I want to fully rehab my squat and then teach my chiropractic patients.
Very nice work! I've seen a lot of material about "relearning" the squat position, but this had some new and interesting ideas I can't wait to try. (Love the Nick Drake song,BTW). Any recommendations for how much/how long for each drill? Do you recommend doing this routine every day, or taking rest days in between?
i have a kinda similar training phylosophy, learn, and feel your body trough any possible movement, try it, feel it in every possible way. Bruce Lee summarized it quite correclty: "Be like a water my friend..." ofc i have this mentality after a herniated spinal disk, and a tons of marijuanna and lsd :D :D What do you think about moving in water? I think it played a major influence in human evolution, thats why it can heal the wounded body.
That's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me! Most people say the opposite, in fact the first words i remember my mother using were "you're not funny and very annoying". Thank you for your kind words, sir.

Brilliant!
I can do all of these, but the Dynamic toes stretch - I seem to have short arms :) ... in this position I cannot reach the ground...

if he did what the bar bros did by starting online tutorials then he'd be a millionaire

great video - i am not clear about the purposes of this routine? pre- or post-workout? what kind of rehab?
Ah, YES!! All the joints :-)
Great video, thank you. What is the Nick Drake song?
Love it.
Dumbbells behind the knees is interesting.
I just popped something in my knee. Not even playing, I'm scared....Haaha! (nervous laugh)

Wow man.

I wish I had seen this 30 years ago...I wouldn’t be waiting for a new hip☹️

Who are the artworks of on the wall behind him? Looks like Soros and Menachem Begin. ???
Damn toes stretch is the hardest for me, seems the easiest
so this may be a noob question but would you recommend doing this before you squat for a warm up or after as a cool down?
BOTH
At the bottom of the squat, should your back remain perpendicular with the floor?
As much as possible
do we squat as deep as possible during the dynamic squat? i mean do we squat until our back is bent like during the static squat. thank you friends :D
Where did you get your pants?
Is there a reason for doing static before dynamic?
nope, dynamic should be preferred in my opinion
what happened to the vid??
Nick Drake
who are those guys on the wall?
allan Mestre Pastinha (L) and Mestre Bimba (R).
I have a question on reps and time. For instance, how long should you stay in the static position?...as long as one can?
I'll every morning
Blocked in Australia due to music claim :-(
not anymore!
Can I do this everyday?
Definitely! Consider it a warm-up routine that wakes up your muscles, putting them in motion. Consider it doing it slow and fluid
You can. But you won't 😂😂😂
seems like its feet are collapsing
