- Hey guys welcome back to the channel, today we're finally tearing down my S54 so we can start this Turbo project and I also took my time to give you guys some tech tips.
Welcome to my channel this is Doug Machado, I'm a certified BMW technician and a Drift driver. I've been a mechanic since I was 12 years old, I started when I lived in Brazil, where I was born and raised to the age of 17 years old and then came to the U.S. I worked at independent mechanic shops in the U.S until I turned 21 and worked at BMW dealerships until the age of 28, and I now started my own business. THANKS DOUG, MY CAR SUFFERED SOMETHING VERY STRANGE, 8 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING MY HOUSE IN THE MORNING, AT THE MOMENT IT BEGAN TO FAIL WITHOUT FORCE, IT MADE BLUE SMOKE ON TWO OCCASIONS AND SHOOT A COUNTER EXPLOSION NOT VERY STRONG, THEN LOOK FOR A SAFE PLACE, PARK AND TURN OFF I LEAVE THE ENGINE FOR AN HOUR THEN I TRY TO TURN IT ON BUT NOTHING, LIKE IT RUN OUT OF BATTERY. I TAKEN IT IN A CRANE AND AT HOME IT SMELLED A LOT OF GASOLINE AND WHEN I REMOVED THE OIL DIPSTICK I NOTICED THAT IT SMELLED A LOT OF GASOLINE AND THE OIL WAS WELL LIQUID DRIPTING AS IF IT WAS WATER. WHEN PUTTING A SCANNER ON IT, IT GIVES SOME CODES OF THE WATER SENSORS, CAMSHAFT POSITION INTAKE AND OUTAKE THEN TODAY THEY GIVE ME THE ORDER FOR THE CAMSHAFT SENSORS, THE WATER SENSOR AND THE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR FOR TOMORROW SATURDAY TO CHANGE THEM ALL, I WILL ALSO REMOVE THEM SPARK PLUG, (WHICH ARE NEW TOGETHER WITH THE COILS), SO THAT THE AIR ENTERS AND EVAPORATES THE GASOLINE. I WILL ALSO CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER, LEAVING THE CAP FOR A LITTLE TIME WITHOUT PUTTING IT SO THAT THE GASOLINE DRAINS WELL. FINALLY I WILL CHARGE THE BATTERY BECAUSE THE SCANNER SHOWS THAT IT HAS ONLY 10 VOLTS TO THEN TRY TO START THE ENGINE. ALL THIS BEFORE TAKE IT TO A WORKSHOP. ONE OF MY MECHANICS TOLD ME THAT IF THE COOLANT SENSOR BREAKS, (THE ONE THAT IS IN THE RETURN PIPE THAT YOU GUIDED ME) THE COMPUTER GOES CRAZY AND PULLS GASOLINE AND DOES THAT KIND OF THING THAT HAPPENED. THIS HAPPENED A WEEK AGO AND I HOPE AFTER THE PROCEDURE THAT I TELL YOU WHAT I WILL DO I HOPE IT WORKS. I KNOW IT IS A LONG STORY THAT I JUST TOLD YOU BUT MY CAR IS UNIQUE, THERE ARE NOT MANY LIKE THIS BECAUSE IT IS LAGUNA SECA BLUE AND CONVERTIBLE WITH HARD TOP. ive seen people boost s54 without even touching the internals, ive seen more than one guy say hes been running boost for 20k miles no issues
Absolutely they hold pretty good, but since this will be a drift car and also running nitrous there’s no way to run it stock and not break it
Is the engine block made of iron
Hi just want know where is located the coolant sensor on a S54 e46 m3 engine. Not the one at the hose the other one are at the head or block. Would you tell me?? Or if you have a video please share the link. Thanks!!
There’s a water pipe under the throttle bodies, it’s on the pipe, pretty much behind the oil filter area
