      Yeah but 4 years of growth her hair should be down to her waist and it's barely past the shoulders, then at the shoulders after the cuts. Her not getting trims caused her hair to be way shorter than it should be because the ends were damaged and breaking

      @DollyDomDom 4 года назад +28

    • @WinterWeFell
      @WinterWeFell 4 года назад +33

      @@DollyDomDom Everyone's hair doesn't grow fast but *obviously* if this woman has 3 whole inches of damage up her hair, it hasn't been retaining it's full length.... Because the ends are damaged and damaged ends break. She has been doing something wrong by not getting it cut regularly and keeping that damage. Hair grows .5 inches a month on average, 48 months would be 24 inches on average. Her hair may not grow fast but it seems really apparent to me that if her ends weren't so damaged she would be able to retain way more than hair that's barely back length, and really only shoulder length once we got rid of all the damage.

    • @kurama5303
      @kurama5303 4 года назад +6

      Sienna Johnson Maybe. Meeka She probably needed it. Once you get in someones head you're able to see the extent of the damage close up and she was probably cool with it. Everyones hair growth rate is different. No one can say where another persons hair should be at a certain time unless they are studying that person. That .5 growth rate is general average based on so many different factors subject to change at any point.
      Some peoples hair grow at a faster rate like my people. We get like an inch or more some months. My mom hasn't trimmed in over a year and she still has a head full of long hair. She also has like 4A maybe 3 type hair. Barely even curls up, so I just noticed the hard truth, hers doesn't break like mine does.
      Some people cant achieve average growth per month. I learned the hard way how important it is to keep split ends off. I'm rough so I have a tendency to tear through my natural hair breaking it off at a fast rate (doesn't help). From experience, I wouldn't make it a year with no trims because of the amount of breakage. You damage your hair in so many ways other than trimming.
      Ultimately everyone is different. It varies and it's not an exact science. I personally enjoy studying this.

    Many women hold onto bad ends for the sake of length, something I'd never recommend. Short or mid-length HEALTHY hair looks so much nicer than long, UNHEALTHY hair. Bottom line, there is nothing which will UN-split split ends. They do have to be removed with trimming/cutting.
    As for the woman featured, she's said herself she is pleased with the end result, so I am not sure why there are so many "upset" comments. The hair belongs to one person only. She chose to cut it and is happy. Period.

    I read the comments and they are true. You cut about 5 inches off of this woman's hair. Not 2. If you had actually cut 2 inches you would have been right on target. And no your hair does not always grow back to that length. It could take her two or three years. Old school stylists knew how to mend ends not just cut all of the hair off. But if SHE likes it, I love it!

    I recently had 2 inches trimmed off my medium length hair and I felt pretty upset. But after about a month and a half of weekly blow drying (much more frequent than usual for me) and taking 6 months to go back to the salon for a trim instead of my stylist's recommended 3 months, I am starting to see now that it was needed. I need to go back in another 3 months as well because I still have some damage left. So I'm hoping to have all the damage removed over the course of the next year and return to having healthy hair. My trim 6 months ago was the first I'd had since beginning to grow my hair out 4 years ago, so I just need to be better with trim maintenance. I, too, was informed that if I don't keep it trimmed, my split ends will travel up. That's such a scary thought.

    • @a.m4806
      @a.m4806 4 года назад +1

      Asha Bryant just focus on taking care of your ends so you can keep your length too . You honestly can get a trim 2x or once a year if you take care of your ends by keeping them moisturized so they won’t break up the hair shaft. Moisture keeps those hair bonds nice and strong . I use the actual aloe Vera gel from the plant tht u can by from the store and it helps keep my ends healthy to retain length.

The hairstylist here for natural hair suck and be ripping though my fine stand thick hair causingmore damage before I can even get to the trim part, so I leave. They don’t use a wide tooth comb to get big tangle out but try to use a paddle brush with zero product on wet hair. One even comb untangle hair in shampoo. One blow dry my hair than set me under the dryer for 30min than wanted to blow dry it again. In all cases I walked out and did let them finish. I scissor happy with my own hair but I want a blunt cut and grow out my layers. I can damage my hair myself with no help why will I pay for someone to damage it. I trying to get my dead end cut not add on to the breakage that just crazy. Now I have to cut the damage she cause me at the shampoo bowel and that one rack though when she try to pull out all my hair before I stop her. I am not tender headed and my head was hurting with her pulling my hair out when she was shampooing it. I never see a hairstylist not detangle you hair start before shampooing and never had one that comb your hair with shampoo in it. Even when I was relaxed they never did that.

    For me personally, that would’ve been too much, I literally would’ve freaked out and probably never come back again. Which is why I just trim my own hair, I would never trust a stylist with short hair to trim my long hair. She even admitted at one point that she just likes short hair. So why would she care that you wanted to keep some of your length??
    However, the woman in the video didn’t seem to mind, just like I have friends who would be like girl just cut it off, I don’t care how much. So it really depends on the client I think.

    Her ends were not as sparse as this stylist is making it seem to be. This video is full of misinformation, which has a tendency to plague the black hair community. Comments were made regarding over the counter products, which were false. Oh and-hair can be blow dried STRAIGHT and TRIMMED AFTER. I do it all the time especially when I feel the flat iron has been in my hair too much. Ladies, just because a person is a licensed stylist that DOES NOT MEAN that their word is "final.say" for what's best for YOUR HAIR.

If you are trying to grow your hair out and the stylist cuts 6 inches off your hair because it’s uneven…then she’s not the stylist for you.

    It shows that alot of you guys havent been to a good beauty school or had been taught by ppl who actually care about your hair . With alot of dead ends , length would not matter !! The longer you wait to have them ends trimmed the more they travel up your hair shaft . Lets say she did only cut off half of an inch to an inch it wouldn't make a difference. She'd still have long hair but unhealthy long hair , thin long hair , even with layers in her hair it would've made it look a lil fuller but her length would still look stragely. Not saying that you cant gradually cut it off , which you can . You can do 1/2 and inch to 1 inch off and gradually go from there but you would have to do that every month , which would cost you more money than just taking majority of those dead ends off. Trust me i know , before i even decided to go to beauty school i barely trimmed my hair and it was BAD!!!! i had to cut it all off bc of how far i let them ends go , even if i cut off 2 to 3 inches that wouldnt have made a difference especially bc i have 4C type hair, and im natural so that was super bad . Alot of yall talk about shrinkage for the naturals but yall dont know that the more shrinkage you have the healthier your 4 Type hair is . So many of us are so blind when it come to our hair and i get it , thats who we are ! But Ladies its JUST HAIR ! lol it grows back if you take care of it very well and dont have any underlying sickness or w e that'll prevent your hair from growing .

      It may be to you but remember it on their heads and they paying you. If they want uneven spit ends it on them, tell them if they don’t agree do as they want but tell them what can happen. Think about going to the doctor and they do surgery on you without your approving it first. Some people don’t want the treatment but they should still have a choice and it should be respected. Everybody know ratting McDonald’s everyday is bad be you don’t see McDonald’s saying you earring here way too much going away and only eat here twice a month and be sure to workout everyday. They let the people choose if they want to eat themselves into a early grave so be it, remembers me of the doctor that got so mad with his patients he made the restaurant Heart Attack where they mascot dead of a heart attack and a few people had heart attacks at his place. Even putting it out there his restaurant become beyond popular. I tells you the mind set of people. Some will listen, so have to go there it the hard way and other just want to do what they want. There was a white woman with spit end up to her shoulder and hair down to her butt and she told me she never want her hair cut even though it look beyond bad. If that make her happy I love it, but I not going to lie for the longest I want to just cut it when she not looking. It look a thousand times worst than the lady in this video. I'm not sure what the stylist meant by keep a trim schedule obviously, if you notice that you're getting split ends in an area.. take care of them obviously but, personally if you taking good care of your hair especially if it's natural you keeping it VERY moisturize, you're sleeping with it covered at night, you are finger detangling instead of using a comb, and using protective styling at least 70% of the time.. then, you shouldn't need to trim your hair more than twice a year if, twice! if you are triming your hair more than twice a year, more than a inch or two when you do trim then, you already know the answer to why it's not growing!! you're cutting off the growth... Simple! ****I am not as stylist**** I am just a natural hair enthusiast.

    Lol i guess I’m the only one that didnt think her hair was THAT long. I guess it just goes to show you who regularly goes to a trained stylist. Or who has cut a decent amount off and seen it grow back. It always. Grows. Back. Lol. I’ve learned the hard way, just cut it regularly. Also split ends don’t style well. I can’t believe there are ppl in this comment section who are like “it woulda been too much for me”. YOU COULD SEE THROUGH HER ENDS. It looks so much better. Just get a trim once a season. It’s just not that serious. And those naturals with long hair that trim their own hair, just bc they are able to get away with it doesn’t mean YOU can 😂

    Wow!! It looks like she cut WAY too much hair off. Although I understand she is very knowledgeable about hair and just wants hair to be healthy.

      Doris Sharp Or maybe the client wanted her hair short? There’s no such thing as “she cut way too much off” the client wanted that .

    The minute she cut it, it looked 100% thicker! Gorgeous hunny! Just stunning!

    I have made the mistake of not wanting to cut off the extremely damaged hair and things got worse. I finally cut it to a layered bob and it has grown out some. I have changed my habits. Now I want to have a pixie cut because there is still some damage and I want to regrow my hair to my hips in a healthy way. I use a home made hair masque to help with dryness. I get my hair trimmed every three months.

    I realize that it's not healthy for your hair to go without a trim but with the prices of getting your hair done some of us can't afford it.
