Hello Crafty Friends! Thanks for leaving a comment! Please feel free to leave any tips you may have that I did not cover!! Please check the description box for more information on today's video! Crafty Hugs, Erica
I recommend you flip you cutting plates and shims every time you cut.
Round dies, usually aren't a problem to cut.
Rubbing your dies with tumble dryer sheets help release your paper from your dies.
I'm from the UK. I do die cutting on both electric and manual.
Great tips! The one about the die facing up is one I can’t wrap my logical mind around. It goes through the same pressure either way. Plus I don’t like that you can’t control where it is on the paper unless you use tape every time.
I’ll add a tip… leave the 2 plates rolled into the machine when not in use. This helps with the curving issue.
Clear explanation, no waffle, beautifully filmed - fantasic! Thank you.
You can also use dryer sheets that have been used to help keep the paper from sticking in the die. Great way to recycle.
Thank you for sharing your videos ❤️
Fantastic work and tips...
Thanks so much
Thanks Erica for sharing theses tips it is very useful for me I just open my new sizzix bigshot !!!!
Woot Woot! Exciting!! YAY!!
Thanks. These were great tips
Erica - great tips - I have a couple for you too: replace your plastic cutting plate with an old self-healing mat cut down to size; they don't warp and save on buying those plates.also try dryer sheets on new dies that either don't cut all the way through or stick.
Thanks! I have heard of the dryer sheets, but will have to look into an old self -healing mat! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs, Erica
Yep! I use the self healing mat as well. Works great❤
Fun KREations hi can you please explain or show what is old self healing mat don’t understand
Thank you
I am French !!!
It's your standard cutting mat that you would use with a craft knife/blade. here is an example: amzn.to/2xhsnRI
Donna1165 Perez It is a mat that you can cut on and it doesn't scar with knife marks. They come in various sizes and if you live in the USA you can get them at any hobby store, amazon or Tuesday Morning.
Really appreciate your kindness to share these tips. 💕💕💕
Well presented and demoed info. Thanks you very much.
Hey, Erica! Hope all is well with you today! Love all your die-cutting tips! There are two other tips I’ve learned about using adhesives on die cuts! You can send them through a Xyron machine! After sending the die cut through the Xyron, you have to make sure you give the sticker a good rub before removing the clear strip from the top of the sticker! Then roll up that clear strip and press it on the sticker wherever it may be sticky on top! The other adhesive tip is to use double-sided tape rolls! Because the tape is available from 1/8” to 6” widths, this may be cheaper and easier than using adhesive sheets! You just back your paper before cutting it! I use this method a lot, especially on small dies or word dies! It’s also efficient when using the small die-cutting machines like a Sidekick! There usually isn’t much waste left behind! Another die-cutting tip is before sending the die back through your machine, rotate the die! This works well with stubborn dies that may not always cut out all the intricate details! The machine’s rollers will hit the die in different spots with a different amount of pressure! Hope these additional tips will be helpful! Die-cutting is fun, but also can be frustrating at times! Thanks for sharing your die-cutting knowledge! Take care! Toni
Yes!!! Great additional tips!!! Thank you!! Hugs, Erica

Even if I’m not a beginner there are always room for improvement, and watching this gave me a couple of ideas to try out to see if it works for me,
Thank you so much & Happy New Year!
WOW! I love all the tips I’m a beginner, it helped a lot with the sticky paper that was very helpful because I just made a card and I have some of the glue that came on the side of the card. 🤦🏽♀️
Thank You so much! Excellent tips! I have been die cutting for years and still I learned something today. I love your videos!
Thank you for these excellent tips. I will put them to use
I loved your die cut video. Now I’m inspired to make some cards!
I'm just getting started and this was really interesting.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video!! Great tips!! Crafty hugs, Teri
Great info thank you
Thank you these tips were very helpful. I just learned about the wax paper trick yesterday. Also learned that rubbing a dryer sheet on the die before running through helps also. I have seen the adhesive sheets on Amazon never knew how to use them. Thanks again never to old to learn something new!
Thank you so much! I appreciate your sweet comment! Crafty hugs, Erica
I have been cutting my dies at an angle , but I am not turning it over with the cutting part up. Hhmmm, does that turning it over apply to using a precision base plate instead of the bottom cutting plate? Oops, you did flip it over. OK. Yes, I love that rolling brush tool, I use it all the time!!! Yes, I've tried the wax paper. That works too, just messy ,LOL, but it works! Yes, I learned that foam trick too. When you run the foam too many times, it flattens and stretches the foam. I haven't tried that adhesive sheet from HL. I've been meaning to get it, but keep forgetting. Great tips, BFF!! I'm sure everyone will find this helpful. Great job!!!!! Huge hugs!!!! :D
Thank you for all the tips! Great info!
This tutorial was so awesome! Thank you so much for making this video. I purchased my first die cut machine (bigshot) just a couple of months ago, so this is very helpful to me! :) Happy Crafting, love your videos and thank you for sharing :)
Great to see these techniques together in one video.A couple of new ideas or me to try. Great!
Your the best Erica! Thank you for taking the time to make this helpful video!
I always do a last run through with dryer sheets and it makes it so much easier without any mess
Some really great tips. I'll have to remember the wax paper one. I also love the foam cutting tip. TFS your tips and tricks and you have a wonderful week.
Thanks for the tip on the foam. Have tried this before but thinking it wouldn't cut because of the thickness, I'd run it through multiple times only to squash the foam. But your tip worked perfectly.
Thank you Erica for sharing your tips! You shared some awesome techniques that are helpful! Thanks for taking the time to share this! Big hugs! Siv
This video was great! I’m going to order everything you showed today. Got some small dies like you and gave up on them. Getting those plates could be life saver!
Thank-you for your tips and tricks. Very helpful :)
Thank's so much for those highly useful tips & tricks! Sometimes I feel so confused about die cutting techniques and it's wonderful to find good advices. 😄👏🏻❤️
You are welcome! Thank you for stopping by!!
Thank you for making the sticker I needed to learn to do that.❤
Thank you for sharing all these tips. I always have trouble die cutting intricate dies. TFS
Thanks for all the great cutting tips. Very helpful
That stick it is not for making stickers, originally, but for making it easier to remove intricate dies. That was the original use & if you’re just using for stickers (unless intricate) you’re wasting that “stick it “ is not cheap. Watch Stephanie Bernard, who designs for Sizzix as l think she’s the one who invented it. She introduced it on her show. You put the stick it on your cardstock before die cutting & then you van peel it right off. Especially good for those thin line word dies. I use it all the time for that kind of thing. For stickers l use my “Ziron” sticker machine.
Tfs this was a very informative video! One tip I learned from you that you didnt mention was using more than 1 piece of paper when die cutting and you need more than 1 color paper. That tip has helped save me so much time!
Yes, That is another helpful tip! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs, Erica
Flip plates every time you run them through. Mine don't bend like yours. I always alternate & have been flat. I don't need to buy a self healing mat. Hope it helps. Tfs your tips
Thank you! I have heard of that as well!! Looks like I need to a part 2 video!! :) Thanks for stopping by!! Hugs, Erica
Great tips regardless, learned about the wax paper. Thank you 😍😘
Great tips Erica, thankyou for sharing. Think ill have to get a roller brush
Gr8 vid. Can you give me some pointers on the weight of card stock you would typically use for cutting stickers. I think I am using to heavy a card stock as I can’t get a clean cut when I try. Peter
Fantastic tips and very helpful! Thanks Erica for doing this video!
Thanks for the tips.. I never heard of using the self healing mat..I am going to get one and see if it lasts longer than the cutting plates..My plates always
Curl up so badly..
I tried everything thanks again for all the comments as well...😋
Thanks I will try the wax paper for one that is having trouble coming out of die.
Found this very interesting ..some great ideas. Do you have any tips for when you are using the negative part of a die cut how to stop indentation marks around it? Thanks
Thanks for the great tips I will definitely be trying these
Thanks for the tips....I will try your methods tonight...gracias

Thank you.. I have a problem with some metal sectors that do not work properly. They only destroy time and do not give the full shape. Is there a solution with such cheap metal sectors. I follow you from Saudi Arabia
Amazing tips... thank you so much for sharing.
You could try self healing mat as a top plate .
Great tips Erica! Thank you for sharing❤️
Thank you
Thanks for the great video! I have no experience with die cutters but just got my hands on a Spellbinders Grand Calibur. I was wondering if you or anybody reading this has experience with a Spellbinders Grand Calibur and the wood steel dies? I have my eye on one and it says it works in most name brand die cutters but it doesn't mention any specific die cutter. I'd like to be sure before I buy it as it isn't cheap. TIA!
I am sorry I am not sure. Contact Spellbinders directly they could help you.
Thanks for the helpful tips! Tfs, 🤗 Sandra ... love your nails! ☺️
Great tips. 😍👍🏻
Thank you so much for this video!! I’m pretty new to crafting and all these tips and tricks will help me.
Great tips! I always look at the instructions written on the Precision Base Plate before I use it. Always have to remember to put the plate on die cutter so instructions don't show. TFS
Im new to die cutting and struggling to get a good cut. What is the purpose of the shim and the precision plate? I've watched many use my same cutter and get perfect results. Thank you for the great advice.
Love the tips🙌🏻😍 i need to use those sticker sheets! Ive hauled them and havent used yet🤣
Yes, Pull out those sticker sheets!!! LOL! TFW hugs, Erica
Thank you so much for this video. It is super helpful!💜
Awesome tips
Awesome tips, thank you.💕
Great tips and tricks!!!! Thank you for sharing 😊
I am fairly new to this die cutting thing (got my machine for christmas 2018) and I am trying to learn more about how to use it.
I have a couple of questions:
How to cut in felt with it? I mean, the common craft felt can be quite flimsy... So how to prevent the felt from moving around and getting a crooked result? Also, how many times would you run felt through the machine?
I don't have any stickers-paper... Could I use double sided tape instead?
What would be the best way to store cutting dies?
Is it better to do cutting die/paper on top? Or is paper/cutting die on top better? What is the difference?
Sorry for asking so many questions 🤔🙃😉😊
Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰😊
Awesome tips Diva❤
Thank you! :)
