Just watched again after maybe 20 years! Have it on DVD 📀, thank God 😊 🙏 😀 Classic now to those of us born around 1970's!😁 Absolutely a practically G rating movie that needs to be remembered ❤️ feel good, funny 1982 comedy. If you haven't seen it put it on your bucket list 🤟🎬❤️
It's a sweet funny yet sad movie from the early 1980's.. They sure don't make a movie like this anymore these days.. My recommendation is this have a chance to watch it.. Do so..
It is a remake of Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands (Dona Flor e Seus Dois Maridos in Portuguese), a 1976 Brazilian film, based on Jorge Amado's book of the same name. ruclips.net/video/GGDMXJgl8I0/видео.html
I loved this movie - the wistful song, the old fashioned attack on the script. It could've been done in any period, but Sally Field and Jeff Bridges at their most adorable, James Caan at his most suave and his dancing holds up... the guest cast were seasoned regulars like they used to cast (I mean Claire Trevor and Mildred Natwick!!) I'm a little sad I sold the dvd now.
@@lurodrigues817 Right? And the fact that he was a Broadway choreographer makes it a no-brainer. Can you imagine how the line, "They're my Aunt Edna's" would resonate with a live audience????
Does anyone know where that little Bed & Breakfast that they stayed at is? You know where the other honeymoon couple is there and the new husband is acting/mocking Jeff Bridges that he sees a ghost of a former lover and the new bride gets mad. Does anyone know the place?
0:16- Ugh, Sophie's First World Choice. 0:44- The Cinema Snob has ran into a lot of movies that are better versions of terrible movies that would come after, as this movie, let's just say it's a lot better than the Bo Derek movie, Ghosts Can't Do It.
EtchedInStone with his current child bride bleeding his finances dry, and the fact he has publicly complained he cant retire now @ almost 80 yrs old. I bet he wishes he could make easy money for movies like this.
He had to thank the movie for being what it is, if it was like in original there would be scenes of him having to walk naked down the street at the end.
Don't hate me for saying this guys I love it but one thing make so made's that women if she not get over her death cheating husband don't involved with someone else he a good guy and she walking around so crazy all about her cheating husband
It is a remake of Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands (Dona Flor e Seus Dois Maridos in Portuguese), a 1976 Brazilian film, based on Jorge Amado's book of the same name. The first husband despite being a trickster, he was good at having sex and that made his wife put up with everything.
James Caan said this was the most miserable experience of his life making this SH$T show of a 80s pop movie calling everyone incompetent and mediocre. I tend to agree though I love Jeff Bridges but eh this movie was weak for a comedy like most late 70s early 80s comedys were not very funny with lots of corny gags thats about as funny as a dude on stage with a sock puppet.
It's a romantic comedy and well executed. I was just a kid when I saw this movie and it stayed burned in my memory. I love it so much. No violence, nudity, or profanity. It's perfect.
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie!!!! Rest in Peace James. You will be SO missed.

I remember this movie as a kid. It took a while to find it but I did and still enjoy it to this day.

The original with Sonia Braga called "Dona Flora and her two husbands" was also really great.
Great and with less clothes!
Its better. It's shows the "malandro" and part of the brazilian culture of the 40s.
Its strange for me, like a travel to the past of my grandparents
I've loved this movie for years. Then I became a widow. Now I love it even more. So much truth
One of the best movies of all time!! I wish I could find it! I have been looking everywhere!
Its available on DVD. Just received my copy today!
Yes i agree love Sally field
I have always loved this movie since I was a little girl.
I miss it! Nostalgia ❤❤❤.

RIHP to the great James Caan!!! I loved his character, Jolly!! 💃 💘 He was handsome, charismatic, popular, a great dancer & dresser!!
I love this movie
This brings great memories 💕 and I've been in love with ghosts too!
Love this movie classic
I was watching this with friend the other night and we both agreed that this would make a fantastic musical.
It would. The book is Amazing and I totally see it as a musical.

@@showguyusa somebody's gotta to make this happen!
They already did. It's was called "Sarava".
Brings me back to my childhood
This was my favourite movie growing up.
I'm always discovering a new Jeff bridges movie
Inspired by Jorge Amado's novel: Dona Flor and her two husbands
This looks very interesting and a very good movie.
Haven't seen this at all, sure I do though. Looks like I'll be going to Barnes & Noble
I would always pick Jeff Bridges over anyone.
Dona Flor e Seus Dois Maridos. This is interesting...
The dude was hot when he was young!
Yessssss 😉
Anyone know where to watch this streaming?

Amazon has it for 6.99
How in the HELL can you live in a house where your dead husband died with your new husband? HELL to the NAW!❤😂❤😂❤😂❤
😇👍
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😂😊
Just for the fact that his name is Jolly makes me wanna punch a hole in my wall. No wonder he hated this fucking film...
Funny film. Good actors. Not everything is "the godfather" or "Brian's song". At this point, the character he plays here, is dead on. No pun intended.
Cute..everybody remakes movies of ghost returns...
OMG, they made movies without profanities? Weird.
Weird, right?!...lol
I remember Rupert calls the woman at inn a dumb b word. Then Jolly repeats it.
@@timriggins70 … Now compare that to today’s movies.

@@britishsecretagent0078 I'm referring to an interview from 1991. Whether his feeling have changed, I would not know.
Maybe he and the director didn't exactly hit it off, but it's not a horrible film by any stretch.

I dont think she knew Jolly cheated until the friend confessed.
