    Finally someone who actually sets the date on this watch. Thank you :)

    Man, that dial! I’m sure you can stare at that all day, in various lighting, while wearing. Sweet!

  • @Mrtellitlikeitis
    @Mrtellitlikeitis 25 дней назад +2

    The dial needs tons of light, otherwise it’s just a dark blue dial. I sold my Negroni in red, because unless your out in bright sunshine, it’s just another watch. Please keep that in mind. If it’s a normal day out, or overcast, the dial WILL NOT look like that. However, when all is nice outside, it’s a stunner. But, that’s not very often

    That's a gorgeous dial. I'm sure pictures don't do it justice. I have the "espresso martini" cocktail time and you could never capture how cool it is on film.

    I already had the Presage 'Negroni' cocktail watch which is such an incredible shade of red transitioning to black )all depending on the amount and direction of the light to it). I really hadn't planned to get another watch from the same series, but after seeing the 'Blue Manhattan' (Seiko calls it the 'Old Clock', but I see both names used for it), and wanting a beautiful blue-dialed watch in my collection, I shopped around and found one at a really great price and ordered it yesterday, so it will arrive by Christmas!

    Seiko is a stunning watch maker and affordable comparable to luxury brands

    This is based on the 'Old Clock' cocktail from Tokyo's famous Star Bar and thus Seiko named it after this.

    I own the same watch, and it looks fantastic. I put a Milanese bracelet on it and it suits the watch perfectly. As far as spec and value for money is concerned, it stinks

      Oh! Yeah a Milanese would look great! So maybe hunt for a deal on these, or go used. Sad re:spec/value/$$. They do look amazing tho!

    Gorgeous dial but i would not put the date complication, it breakes the harmony...

      I nearly always prefer no dates. So I don't disagree.... Sometimes the rest of the design will outweigh that preference for me. heh

    • @balesjo
      @balesjo 2 года назад +1

      @@KillingTimeWithNorman I usually prefer dials with no date mainly because on many watches, the date window is so small that I can;t read it without a magnifying glass! I've seen some upscale watches with the 'large date' that are legible and often work into the design.

      @@balesjo I agree - large dates are usually great looking - others just come off as after thoughts :/

    It is a crying shame that the previous good image of the Seiko brand has been tainted by bad QC. These days, for a mechanical timepiece on a modest budget, Tissot is hard to beat.

    • @KillingTimeWithNorman
      @KillingTimeWithNorman  2 года назад +1

      I haven't experienced a Tissot in person, but been tempted by a few models for sure!
      Yeah, agreed re QC issues :(

      @@KillingTimeWithNorman I love Tissots but the company seems to design with a minimum diameter of 40mm. I have a small wrist and a 39mm is about the top of the range that dos not overpower my wrist. I have two others that run from 40mm to nearly 42mm, and while beautiful, I just don't wear them due to the size. Wish Tissot would design some of their 'Gentleman' line in a 37-38mm diameter for those that have small wrists or prefer a smaller diameter watch.
