I’ve been a foreigner fan since the beginning. I’m in my late 50’s. How did i not hear this version before? This is amazing and filled with so much emotion. Beautiful. I loved the addition at the end.

My Dad had "The Best of Foreigner" CD when I was in my teens... and this song was on it... I knew it from "In Deep" and our ENTIRE FAMILY loved Tina Arena... He had no idea she had covered this song, and at tnat stage I had no idea ewhat a cover even was... so when he was playing his Foreigner album and I started singing this song, he was in shock... Beginning of 2021 he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, but beginnging of 2022 he was rushed to hospital and my sister, her partner and I rushed from Mainland to Tassie... The parting gift I was able to give him (and his longest partner) was being able to sing "I wanna knwo waht love is" because of Tina Arena... He was barely aware of anything, but when I started to sing his "last lullaby" as the nurse put it, which was a song he and I held so close... that he told his GF was "their song"... he looked at me for the first few lines, and then turned to look at heron the opposite side of his death bed... and for the first/last time in his last hours he moved and was THERE. This song was special to me before I knew it was a cover, when Dad and I realised that it was something special to us both... for multiple reasons... and then for multiple times... I'll always be grateful for Tina's music... from the first songs I loved (Sorrento Moon & Wasn't It Good - i had the Don't Ask cassette) to the songs on "In Deep" that my lil sis had the CD to... and the last special memory I had with my dad, the last thing I could POSSIBLY GIVE HIM...

I'd never heard of this version or the singer. Saw her mentioned while I was reading about the original song --- an all time favorite of mine. While IMHO it would take a miracle to match or exceed the original, it's pretty good. She has a good voice and I respect that she put her own spin on it. She stripped it down and didn't take the karaoke approach. That's good. There are a bunch of good Australian musical acts we don't hear about in the States: Peter André - I think? Even Kylie Minogue is nowhere near as big stateside as she is in Australia and Europe. But she's great. Clearly Tina Arena should be added to that list.
