I swear, Roxette had the most haunting songs of the late 80s and early 90s. Between this, "Fading Like A Flower", and "It Must Have Been Love". There's just something about their music that makes me feel something that no other artist does. It captures that sad but happy, haunting but hopeful feeling from my childhood that I didn't fully understand but I loved.

We went to Sweden last year and by accident we visited Borgholm Castle in Öland. I recognised the place from this clip. I saw them live 4 times. 3 times in Antwerp Belgium and the first time in Brussels. She sings in heaven now. Thank you Per and Marie for all the beautifull songs.

My high school sweetheart and I danced to this song when it first came out....she was just 18 then....we had already been together for two wonderful years......we went on to live for 36 years together......she passed away recently and I am not sure why but this song brings back a flood of memories of when we were starting out, and tears......thank you Roxette for having this online so I can relive those memories. I'm sorry for your loss, David, but happy that you had 36 wonderful years together. This song holds special, bittersweet memories for me for the one that got away, that I left behind. I regretted it for many years, and wondered what my life would have been like if I listened to my heart. It haunts me every time I hear it. I just found out a couple years ago that he had died the year before. We weren't in contact for almost 20 years, but I did get to see him 14 years after we broke up, and I was able to apologize for how I had left him so abruptly. I moved across the country to be with my family, being only 21. This is such a wonderful song. The other great Roxette song, "it must have been love" has a similar theme and is very nice. It was redone by another singer (can't remember his name this second!) and shows what a classic song it is.

This song means so much to me! I met a girl on September 15, 1989. It was fun. She was great. The most beautiful girl I'd ever seen. But I knew it wasn't going to last. She was way out of my league. I met a girl on September 15, 1989. It was fun. She was great. The most beautiful girl I'd ever seen. But I knew it wasn't going to last. She was way out of my league. I knew we were just hanging out for fun and that it would be over soon. I didn't want it to be over, but I knew she would figure me out sooner or later. She'd realize I was just as worthless as I felt.
Earlier that day, we had been walking on campus and she asked me, "Why do you always look at your feet when you walk?"
"I dunno," I said.
"You know what," she said, "This is your world, too. You deserve to be here as much as anyone else. Look up. See the world. You belong here."
I cannot even describe how much that changed me as a person. I was a totally different guy after that. I never believed in myself, but she did. She believed in me.
That afternoon, I took her to visit my family for the first time. They liked her as much as I did. I could tell. Especially my dad. He gave me a great big smile when we left.
I remember the moment I heard this song the first time. I was backing out of my parents' driveway. This song came on the radio, and she grabbed my hand and sang it to me. I'll never, ever forget that moment.
I remember thinking, "Who is this girl? And why am I so captivated?" She sang "listen to your heart" and it was over for me. I was hopelessly lost in her. That was it. I was done. When she left, I knew it would break me. But I didn't care. I was all in. I was going to live every second of it she gave me.
35 years later, four children, three grandchildren.
She's still everything. She's still out of my league. But I no longer feel worthless.
