XFX Radeon RX 7900 GRE Merc - The best value for money GPU in SA

  • XFX's Radeon graphics cards are often the best bang for buck AMD GPUs in SA par none. However the XFX 7900 GRE as sold by ‪@WootwareComputers‬ makes a fantastic offering that's impossible to beat right now in SA. At R12,999 you'll not find a faster GPU and as is, represents the most obvious choice for those looking for a GPU upgrade.
Add FSR3.1 that's coming soon with AMD Frame Generation and we have a GPU that should last years on end.
The memory OC is impressive and brings plenty additional performance to the otherwise bandwidth starved GPU.
If you're in the market, this is the most obvious place to start.

only a heads up, because the merc models of the 7900XT and XTX suffer from thermal paste pump out, some revisions supposedly fixed that problem, but in the xfx forums they are still decently prevalent, so in case they haven't fixed that problem, expect having to repaste the gpu in around 4-6 months after purchase, maybe more since it uses less power than it's bigger brothers

Just bought a 7900gre for my girls pc, paired with a 5600x that thing is a freaking beast, smashes EVERYTHING in 2560x1440p, paid 570usd/euros for it. Best gpu on the market for the money.
Altough, my 4070ti zotac amp extreme with a 10900k, beats her in 9 out of 10 games tested in 2560x1440p, tho in most wins we are talking about mostly 5-10fps in most games, and when you already have 90-100+fps that doesnt really matter, and then being 150-250usd cheaper msrp than the 4070ti just makes the 7900gre absolute insane.
you basically get 4070super performance for 100-200 bucks less than a 4070super, and 16gb vram. We are very happy with the buy and i think her 5600x will hold this card for atleast 3-4 years before we decide we need to change anything. Has no problem pushing the 7900gre to 99% usage in most games.

Good stuff. Can't argue the value of such a GPU. The system you put together for family is awesome, can't imagine any game in the next 3 years not being able to reach 60FPS 1440P at high detail levels.

Hmmm I'd say go with the 4070Ti if you are able to pick between the two depending on your games. That Ray Tracing achilles of the RDNA GPUs is a bit much, and DLSS simply has more room to grow it seems than FSR. And you can use FSR Frame Gen on Nvidia GPUs as well
