- The Sand Monster is a great first truggy for kids. My 4 year old Henry had a ball with his and that is about as early as you could get a kid in RC. He still bangs it up but he also got the hang of it, now he just needs practice. It has two large bumpers on the front and back and doesn't go to terribly fast, so it is less. One tip, go to an open lot and avoid curbs - set the youngster up for success from the start.
Back to the truck buggy (truggy) review. This goes about 5 - 7 mph top, does fine on dirt and pavement but will not make it through grass. It does not have the ground clearance or power to be able to accomplish this. If you will primarily be driving your RC vehicle on grass I suggest a 4 WD monster truck that will have the clearance and the 4 WD to power trough when some wheels get stuck or spin. The bigger the better as well, 1/10th scale is ideal.
The truggy is well put together, as I mentioned before the large bumpers are key for a beginner, as well as the slower speeds. It comes with a 4 wheel independent suspension, 2.4 GHz radio control which is great and has a range of about 120'. The 2.4 GHz does not have any visible antennas, so nothing to break. There is a small antenna on the transmitter but it is flexible. It comes with a 6.4V rechargeable battery and charger which gives it a 15 - 20 minute drive time depending on how hard you push it. I think the graphics look pretty cool too.
I would like to see a throttle trim so a parent could turn this down until the little guy gets a hang of it and then can turn it up to full speed. The truggy moves six different ways, so it is also good for a child to learn how to reverse and reverse and turn as well. I would also like to see some extra bumpers come with this unit, that way if he does crack one a replacement is right there. I think throwing a second battery in there as well wouldn't hurt. This way when you get done with one you just pop the other one in and go.
So, there you have it. A great starter truggy into the hobby. Set the little guy up for success and choose a good place for him to test it out. I also reviewed the Jet Panther buggy, this is good for 6 years and older if you are looking for something for an older child.
This toy is ideal for a 4 - 6 year old. Anything older than that and they will want something faster, maybe not at first but eventually.
Hi mate how much are these selling for? Because I brought one from a yard sale and it came with no battery didn’t know if it was worth the money to buy a battery for it? Thanks
Joseph Daly, I really like your channel

Como puedo pinerle un nuevo motor a mi carro es igual que ese y un cargador
Do you know where to get replacement parts for it ??
Joshua Snider not a hobby grade rc, its a rip off design and is complete trash. The whole brand designs knockoff rc's.
this is a rip off of the sand shark the sand shark came out first..but I'm 16 it works fine..perfect for messing around
this this was a piece of crap. it broke in 2 weeks. wheel fell out and it wouldn't go straight after the first run
Agree. And no replacement parts so one mistake and it becomes trash ready.
