I've been riding for 30 years and each time I hit the track, I still get the same feel when I first threw a leg over a dirt bike. It never gets old! Best advice I can give you my friend is ride within your limits and try to hold your line, especially when there's other riders. Don't worry about how fast everyone else is going or how high everyone else is jumping. Your safety is top priority.
It’s amazing how much harder motocross is than it looks. First time riders, even really athletic people feel like fish out water on a track, this shows how tough it is to do this, especially at a high level.
Once Covid lifts I’ll be back on a bike for first time in 35years. I dream riding as well as you just have. Pleasure to watch and a great confidence giver. Thanks.
Cool buddy! Some real good progression there! I’m exactly where you’re at! Just posted my own video at my very first try at an MX track! Fun isn’t it! 😄
Usually when I watch these videos at the track, there’s a million bikers screaming by when someone like you would be trying to practice. It’s nice that you had the open track to improve. I’m curious when and where you went.
This is how I need to learn I went for the first time to a big boy tack for practice day and I was very sad with myself 1foot deep ruts crisscrossing on every turn very very hard to learn by yourself with 50 other 250s screaming past you lol I won’t give up
My first time last week here in Vegas. I felt the jumps were a bit steep for a Vet/beginner track but still doable as opposed to the main track in Mesquite that I had to only roll over because they were so big and you actually have to jump them to make it (or roll over like I did).
Mathias Hamre oh lol there use to be some kind of trend some years ago where a whole bunch of people had his avatar but not his name and you’d see them eeeeverywhere. But I guess it died out and Hes all that’s left😂
An update: the 9/4 date for my 1st MX ride got changed to 8/28, so I was out on the track yesterday. Two take-aways: (1) You need a real dirt bike (not a duel sport); (2) If you have trials riding in your background, you will have to “unlearn” some habits, especially about keeping your feet on the pegs at all times.
Nice track to practice on, good progress ...planning my self soon to start back riding since i was racing 50’s on tracks back in the day lol you riding a 250f??
I rode a couple times in 2017, my first video on this channel is from then actually. But I decided to really commit to the sport when I picked up a new bike just before the 2018 ride season started. This video was posted in May of 2018, so I would say I had about three or four months. I did quite a bit of freeride mountain biking growing up, so maybe that helped me feel a little more comfortable in the air.
I think it's a bad habit to get into hitting jumps 1-2 gears higher. You want the gear to determine your speed, not the motor. Should you ever come up short or start to lose it in rollers or something, you want to have that power to keep the bike straight. Also in the air having the motor spinning keeps the bike a lot more stable. It's just a bad habit in general to ride in higher gears, one that becomes increasingly hard to break, and it actually ends up being more dangerous.
Question. Is jumping hard? I’m getting a dirt bike next week (Yamaha yz85) and it looks awesome jumping! I’m just wondering if it would be hard or not.
Bruh Moments just watch some tip videos on how to jump, start off small then try to go farther ( it’s not that it’s hard but its fear that stops most people) but if you just starting to learn to ride, jumping shouldn’t be your concern
This track is pretty casual. It just happened to be really quiet day when this was filmed. I don't know about other tracks, but I imagine there is something like that.
Been watching a lot of first time videos since I’m heading to track first time in 10 years and this was by far the best in terms of skill. Good job.
How you Making out at the track?

Having a buddy there to give you tips and tricks is a great way to learn!

Good progression in one vid!

Great for first time bro!! I love the track something about the smell and atmosphere is just the best.
Keep up the good work, lots of progress in one video!
That was really satisfying to watch. You could see your progression and being a new rider myself it was inspiring to watch.
💪
That’s good stuff
I can totally relate to this and my first time. My home track seems a little more extreme with jumps but I keep trying to build myself up
I remember this feeling. Best feeling in the world bro. Once you get past that first jump fear it’s game on from then on out.

Great progression, the 85 track is good to get your bearings!
Keep up the good work
Good job man! Better than I am progressing haha!
Good Job!

Great learning shift up once in a while
man i wish i had someone to teach me lol i had to learn literally from blood sweat and tears

Very nice
It all takes practice. Sooner than later it will be my turn to hit a track for the first time! Time makes perfect.

Mathias Hamre have you seen him everywhere or have you seen the avatar picture everywhere 😂
@@BigElly12 i have seen his name and his profile picturen in alot of motorcross videos

Whoever rides at motocross track just know that I admire your courage
It’s not that hard. You should try kt

this track looks excellent to learn on. where is it?!
first time hitting actual jump feels kinda magical
Man nice job! I’m getting a bike soon and doing some serious refreshing on riding. How long had you been riding before doing this?

Derp agreed lol if ur just starting try wheelies, try getting comfortable, etc. Not as scary as it looks. Its kinda like a mindset for me
Is that the blackpines track?
is this somewhere in tennessee or ky?
Western Canada 🇨🇦
Thats cool. Do tracks typically have times when newbies can come dick around without getting ran over by the regulars ?
This track is pretty casual. It just happened to be really quiet day when this was filmed.

Is it a terrible idea to want to take my ttr250 to the jumps?
Every one rides fancy yz’s and stuff but i want to jump. Will my suspension hold up
I used to jump a ttr 230! It's probably not as nice but it will work, especially if you can make it to the double landing.
you did
