"Don't zoom in on a cartoon *redacted* and go 'Yowza'" Now I need to know what that redacted was. There are only three things I can think of and all three of them are equally hilarious.
Based on the context, I think it was an unwarranted close up of a cartoon illustration of a penis, probably on a childhood cartoon character. I’m not sure why he was reacting that way, but that’s what I could gather from the bleeps
This comment made me feel like I was have a stroke, until my brain worked out that "are you scared" was actually referring to the title of the series 😭
This is like a modern Lovecraftian horror story. The initial mystery, and an investigation that circles back around to the beginning. Solid concept, great execution.
Is there even a way to figure it out? I mean I feel like they’ve covered all bases, censored photo and whenever the ghoulboys said the name, the trail of hints runs cold :/
@@punk_loki4294 honestly that would make sense according to their reactions but the expanse of what it could be is so wide that there’s no way to prove it, and we shall never escape that sliver of doubt
One of my all-time favourite creepypastas because of its realism. Spreading of malicious emails is a real thing. Being utterly haunted by an image is a real thing, and insomnia and anxiety are real things. Really convincing and grounded in relatable territory.
@@manowa3395 I don't know which is more concerning, the fact that you kept this in store for probably years, or that this even exists, either way, the first row on google image was enough for me.
The real scary dog is that picture of a dog with a bald head filter, it gave him human ears and a bald head, truly haunting, the kind that makes me wanna pull my eyes out
Shane: "I retire for a bit, especially if there's a lot of people over... Sometimes I'm like, I gotta sit out for 20 minutes." Certified introvert response ☑️
That's literally what I do at basketball games, if I get too overwhelmed by either the noise or the number of people there I'll go hide in the locker room for a bit (assuming I'm not supposed to be on court at the time)
More evidence of Shane being a demon. He was able to negate Smile Dog's effects with another even more cursed photo. It's so effective that even just hearing about it and seeing the completely blurred out version makes Smile.jpg completely ineffective.
this adds to the demon evidence pile? I'd say it's evidence to the contrary. He knows Ryan is easily unsettled by things - easily in comparison to him. So his brain immediately was looking for things he could show Ryan that would completely override Ryan's fear response, and he found it and gave Ryan a serious case of the giggles. I don't see how that lends credence to the theory he's a demon.
When I was 14-15, I read a lot of Creepypastas. Slender, sleep experiment, that wierd imaginary cartoon cat friend (Not the trevor henderson one), etc. Not a single one scared me, they were just fascinating or even funny sometimes...with the exception of Smile Dog... Holy shit, that image fucking terrified me to no end. I think it was three or four months after turning 16 that i stopped becoming afraid it.

When I was younger. I used to read or watch things I hated, to pretend that I was different, that I was cool. And smile dog was one. It caused me to have horrifying nightmares for months. And now. My worst fear is the uncanny valley. So it all came full circle.
What we know: Photo realistic, cartoon, lustful, spreading? Bright orange image. “Remember this?” Implies they were already familiar with the image. One syllable word. From Ryan’s mouth movements it appears to start with a “P” but I could be completely wrong. What have we got people?

show five of your friends smile dog and get them to show five of their friends, and eventually you'll end up with a creepy pasta pyramid scheme of sorts.
I enjoy how we get a real-life example of memetic contagion in the episode itself, with Shane showing Ryan the mystery picture to provoke a reaction and then Ryan almost immediately wanting to show other people whatever the hell Shane showed him so that he didn't feel alone in his horror.
they mentioned (I think in Watcher Weekly+) that they decided to remove the guessing aspect entirely. I think Ryan said it was because it was too distracting or something; it did used to throw the pacing off for me, and I like them better without it!
It's so wacky that Smile Dog,,, a story about a picture of a dog with photoshopped teeth,,, is one of the best written creepypastas from this era. Jeff the killer absolutely does *not* hold up after all these years. And I remember it being so iconic. It's wild.
That’s normal! It’s just how introverts work, I’m the same. You may develop better or more coping skills as you get older, but it’s totally normal if you don’t. Taking ten minutes to yourself in order to be happy and engaged for the rest of a gathering is useful and very common.
I want a story like the professor puppet started moving on its own when being left alone like annabelle. When Shane wears the puppet, it binds to his hand and couldn't take it off. The puppet slowly taking control of Shane and Shane became its puppet
Someone needs to write and submit that for an episode. Just seeing the realisation dawn on Ryan and Shane's faces would be priceless. The sheer joy and horror would be amazing. Season finale content right there

When he first said that I thought it was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, like no drug addict is going to waste their stash on that, but now I've had nightmares about it thanks Shane
This has me dying 10/10
@@julieshipman4690 they better have some good dexterity cause I think you have to be pretty accurate when getting it into a vein if that's comforting 😂 I watch way too much intervention
@@black4ever018 oh girl I'm a RECOVERING heroin addict, I've been off it for almost 6 years and my fear is that some asshole from my past is going to stick me to try to get me addicted again. And if it's really good stuff you don't always have to hit a vein, it will absorb in your muscle, you just won't get as high. That's why when I first heard that I was like "there's no way an addict would waste their stash on a stranger" and I still think it won't happen, but I've had nightmares about it. Especially about people who I thought were my friends but when I got clean they got mad and almost jealous because they couldn't get off it. Now I have nightmares those people are trying to pull me back in to that world by sticking me with a needle. Which again, will never happen. THANKS FOR THAT IRRATIONAL FEAR SHANE.

Based on the context, I think it was an unwarranted close up of a cartoon illustration of a penis, probably on a childhood cartoon character. I’m not sure why he was reacting that way, but that’s what I could gather from the bleeps
I suspect it was his carbuncle

Somehow the drawn version of smile dog is scarier than the actual creepy pasta image
I agree
Yeah i never found the creepypasta image that scary but this drawing actually made chills go up my spine haha
I agree but I also found the sound effect really helping to amplify the scare
Yeah I've seen plenty of versions of the smile dog image but that drawing actually scared the shit outta me.
Ikr, give the artist a raise.
This is like a modern Lovecraftian horror story. The initial mystery, and an investigation that circles back around to the beginning. Solid concept, great execution.
I find it so hard to believe that some people don’t immediately recognize old creepypastas

Maybe it's so old, that younger people don't know it anymore

Holy shit, that image fucking terrified me to no end. I think it was three or four months after turning 16 that i stopped becoming afraid it.
What's the cartoon cat one? All I can find when I google it is Trevor Henderson
@@2fortsmostwanted I don't remember it that well, but it was either a cat or bear. The thing would befriend kids as their imaginary friend and convince them to commit suicide.

When I was younger. I used to read or watch things I hated, to pretend that I was different, that I was cool. And smile dog was one. It caused me to have horrifying nightmares for months. And now. My worst fear is the uncanny valley. So it all came full circle.
Smile dog was a consistent nightmare of mine for a decade. They really shouldn't have given nine-year-olds access to creepypasta. Traumatized me tbh

What we know:
Photo realistic, cartoon, lustful, spreading? Bright orange image. “Remember this?” Implies they were already familiar with the image. One syllable word. From Ryan’s mouth movements it appears to start with a “P” but I could be completely wrong. What have we got people?
Garfield probably , the cat. But drawn like hentai
I’m pretty sure he says “photo realistic cartoon pen*s” ..... not sure you could really narrow that down though lol.
Quick a list of orange cartoon characters
Also Ryan says "the position he's in" so we know it's male

Step 1: have/make 5 friends

I enjoy how we get a real-life example of memetic contagion in the episode itself, with Shane showing Ryan the mystery picture to provoke a reaction and then Ryan almost immediately wanting to show other people whatever the hell Shane showed him so that he didn't feel alone in his horror.
