VERY Solid choice for top theme here. It was so bone chilling hearing it for the first time and losing control of myself. Nice pick! Thanks again for having me on my dude.
Lavender Town is so Spooky. Especially with this creepy Pasta, a rumor that some kids were brainwashed into selfcide after hearing the first version of that song back in the day, etc.
This channel should have so much more subscribers! Thank you for the Halloween vibes, I spend an amazing hor and a half with you and this video) Beams of love from Ukraine)
Haven't seen Keits in ages! I really loved the updates he did when Killer Instict was being developed and updated. Give them back the franchise! They'd rock a KI sequel.
Keits is the man! Also that Hisako theme has been one of my favorites ever since I heard it. What a great character and theme. Also, when it comes to Metroid, the idea of outer space in general is very creepy, uneasy, and unknown. And I love that. The music here fits that a lot.
I understand your confusion about Metroid's tone if you're mostly familiar with the box covers, but it's not sci-fi as in inspired by Star Wars, it's sci-fi as in inspired by the Alien franchise (To the point that one of the recurring bosses is named after Ridley Scott)
Man, I wish I had the money to spare to request and boost requests, but there's more XI goodness I'd recommend for the season like Caedarva Mire, Arrapago Reef, Ve'lugannon Palace or Pso'xja. Definitely some spooky stuff, and a few areas that were actually pretty damn scary to explore. Man, I could go on about XI forever. I'm glad you've liked the tracks you've heard so far.
Shoutout to a couple of my spooky favs from Secret Of Mana, an otherwise extremely colorful game: Ceremony, with the spookiest bells, and The Oracle, with Indonesian Kecak chanting.
In my opinion, there are a few themes in Majora's Mask that are even MORE unsettling than Final Hours. One of them is an instance where I can actually say I felt genuine fear from playing a video game, like it gave me the creeps and made me look over my shoulder. There were even times I listened to it as an adult and felt that way. Won't say what it is, but it's late-game. Another one, which is the theme for a certain character, is also pretty chilling
Thank you for listening to Grant Kirkhope, he is one of my fav composers, Mad jack did take me long to beat as a kid but I did ended up beating it, furthest I got in the game was the end of Hideout helm which is right before the final boss, but couldn't progress further because I couldn't find a special N64 coin. there are other songs and boss songs in Dk 64 that are more diverse then just a boss version of the level though the motifs of the level are always there but makes the songs extra catchy, accept for final battle which is just a very diverse sounding theme kinda like banjo kazooie final battle. This game got more themes within levels depending on what rooms you go in, but the motifs are the same generallly. Boss songs like Army Dilo Armageddon, or King "Krusha" K rool etc are more diverse then Mad Jack Madness just throwing that out there. I'm personally biased because I like the boss songs better in general
Damn, I think Ba'al Battle from Bravely Default got forgotten since it was one you reacted to as well. A spooky theme that is also an excellent battle theme!
A couple spooky tunes from games that I can remember is the graveyard music in one of the Monkey Island games (2 I think) and it would get creepier once you did something, and The Dungeons from Last Ninja on the C64, that was really scarey as a kid.
I haven't watched the top music of FFIX video because I haven't finished the game yet myself, but I have to say that "Iifa Tree" has been one of the more creepier music pieces in the series. That synth wave almost reminded me more of the Terminator than some steampunk-ish fantasy game, and I love how that place game something sinister feel to an universally positive thing like life.
More good Halloween vibes soundtracks come from the N64 version of Glover. The “Fortress Of Fear” world has 3 main level tracks and a boss track. In fact, the entire game soundtrack is unique and very underrated, but the “Atlantis” world soundtracks are the most popular, so you really should give those a listen, definitely! 😁
There are some great spooky songs in Pokemon, but my favorite one has to be from gen 7. It's called the Thrifty Megamart Abandoned Site, and it's a trip hearing it for the first time.
I think an Honorable Mention in the Fighting games category goes to Tekken Tag Tournament 1 with Unknowns theme along with "Tekken 4 - Fear" that had a creepy vibe for the Laboratory entry way of the Mishima Zaibatsu
The "DJ scratching record" noise on Unknown's theme blew my mind hearing that first time as a kid. (And Unknown as a character is hard to forget too, especially being a fan of Jun since Tekken 2...😅)
I would highly suggest listening to both Giygas’ theme and ‘The Place(cave of the past)’ from earthbound as those songs are ones that actually me to feel frightened and scared. It also was the direct inspiration of the undertale song that was featured in this video. It’s a must hear in term of scary songs
You owe it to yourself to record yourself playing Undertale. Don't stream it, the chat will not be able to contain itself. But you can do a Let's Play series and beat it in like 6 hours. It's absolutely worth playing.
Love Gothic Neclord. Can’t beat the Lord of the Neck. Was hoping to see The Castle from FF8 though. Fear/Monk Zonk from Ragnarok Online is one of my favorite spooky songs. The Forgotten City from FF12 is great too. It’s like you’re visiting the FF equivalent of Chernobyl.
For other spooky themes in Pokemon I recommend the abandoned ship from Pokemon ruby and Sapphire. It's just a side area in the game you can find. It's a crashed ship wreck and definitely had the spooky vibes. Also it's a bop.
Fantastic vibes! I haven't played MGS enough to get to Mantis, but I do know what happens. Since I never played it I didn't know what the music was like, can only imagine how freaky that sequence is when you get to it and you don't know what to do. Also does this mean you got al isten to those Smash Castlevania remixes? They're really good.
Most of the Zelda games are completely separate from each other except for certain concepts and references, but Majora's Mask is one of the few direct sequels in the series. It takes place right after Ocarina of Time, so you were right on the money in assuming you should play Ocarina of Time first. Ocarina of Time is one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time, so I would say it and Majora's Mask are definite must-plays. They aren't super long games either, so I'd highly recommend checking them out 👌
aww nobody mentioned the Old Chateau theme from Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum??? It’s so delightfully creepy and spooky and takes place in an abandoned haunted mansion in the woods….
highly recommend diablo 2, esp if you are just playing for the music. the gameplay is pretty simple you can really focus on the music, also its pretty fun.
Little surprised there was no Betus Blues from Super Meat Boy or maybe even Hot Damned. Heck, you can basically pluck many out of Crypt of the Necrodancer. All Danny Baranowsky. Other one for me would be The Final Combat in Darkest Dungeon or The Decisive Combat in the second game--same song different name basically. And god, if he reacts to basically anything from Darkest Dungeon 2, I'd lose my mind. One of my all-time favorite video game soundtracks overall and I basically never see anyone outside of the game talk about it ever. Composer Stuart Chatwood. Think the last one I'll give for my personal list would be Alien Power from Streets of Rage 2 by Yuzo Koshiro. I always remember thinking that area was creepy as a kid.
Metroid is all about creating a feeling of isolation on a distant alien world where NO ONE is coming to save you. You're entirely on your own, and you're the only person who can do what needs to be done. Samus is a powerful bad ass, and is a 1-woman army. But she's alone. The OST delivers on this feeling in MOST games. Since you frequently say you don't have a lot of time... Metroid is a good short game. I doubt you're gonna do an sub 1 hour speed run your first play through, but Super Metroid can be finished in about 8-12 hours on a first play through.
@@TarvouldsQuest Ah I should have recognized it, that was one of my favorite seasons too. I'll need to remember this buff trick when it's my time to become egg.
So about Silent Hill, no one is gonna say any game from SH 1-4 is "bad" maybe not the best, but not bad. My personal list goes Silent Hill 3, 2, 1 and finally 4. Being the worst of the best ain't nothing to scoff at. In my opinion, of course.
Damn man… sadge… I know my comment for it was too late but I hope you’ll check out Forgotten Foundation and Gloom Hands from Tears of the Kingdom. These tracks are really amazing for the atmosphere and the feeling of dread. They are really quite creepy.
Damn, 30 spooky themes and no sign of this iconic banger: ruclips.net/video/MFj8RsljbCQ/видео.html Just goes to show you the sheer volume of well-loved spooky themes in games.
My badly drawn pumpkin that Jesse commissioned on the title cards

Thank you so much for asking me to be included. I had great fun and I hope I could encourage at least one person to try more visual novels. 😊

Thanks for hanging amigo 🤝
Hisako from Killer Instinct got me into fighting games and her song and character being both so amazing and detailed really captured me
Lavender Town is so Spooky. Especially with this creepy Pasta, a rumor that some kids were brainwashed into selfcide after hearing the first version of that song back in the day, etc.

I almost considered that since I reacted to them a while back, then I noticed I was nearing 40 songs and had to stop myself lul.
Mantis is one of the most unique bosses of all time!
In my opinion, there are a few themes in Majora's Mask that are even MORE unsettling than Final Hours. Ikana Valley, Song of Healing, etc. There are so many foreboding and creepy songs in that game
Hisakos Village of Whispers is one of my Favorite Game OSTs of all time tbh

We eating good today folks, 2 of my top 3 games are here (FF7 and Majora's Mask). That being said YOU BOUGHT UNDERTALE, JESSE? playthrough when
I've owned UT for like a year and a half just collecting dust in Steamville.

Didnt expect Keits to show up here haha.
Can't believe there isnt a single Resident Evil song in this. The police station first floor or suspended doll, for instance.
I thought of that but it's not been requested to Jesse yet, sadly.
Really expected Pumpkin Hill to make its debut here, even if it's goofy.
Great list personally i think trails of blood from ff7 is the spookiest that song legit gave me nightmares as a kid 😂
