Nice to see buildings being repurposed instead of simply being sealed off and left to rot! Great video - Toby was very knowledgable and without him you'd never of found that entrance..

I went down there (Harnham) when i was 15 years old in 1981 and it was already deserted but still had loads of furniture, fittings and wall maps, I really thought it would be filled in by now. Amazing its been renovated and used.. Is the second one Groveley Woods. Looks like it, if it is, there is another larger one nearby.
That bunker is freaking unreal. Well done to the group that organised and raised the funds for that. I work for a non-profit organisation and I know how hard it is to do this stuff. But that's awesome. Really interesting and well done.
That bunker we used to get into when we were kids, its far bigger than you think, it was sealed off & access to the rest was taken away, if you go to the other end of the hill to the chalk pits you can still see the tunnel rail access that used to go to the bunker..
Wow I'm lost for words. This is the best one I have ever seen and watched. Who would put thumbs down this is amazing. Brilliant video and work. Thanks for sharing it with us 👍
one of the best explorer videos ive seen. What that company did with it is unbeleivable.fair play to them i hope she wins the award she wants they deserve it.
Nice to see that the new owner of The Bunker has an interest in the the original history of the site plus has extensive technical knowledge of the new features. Very positive use of a structure that previously wasn’t a place of ‘fun’ and creativity.
The first one was like a rabbit hole - double tube tunnel - small & not too much space, especially for beds, eating area, etc. The second was a really cool conversion / renovation to reuse a more spacious bunker ! Thx for the great tours ! Colorado, USA
This was absolutely fascinating. The reuse of the Cold War bunker into a recording studio is wonderful, but the Zero Bunker was really special. Good stuff!
Essex Square just down from the chalk pit was a prisoner of war camp in WW2. When I started school in 1957/8 my classroom was an old Nissen hut probably left from the camp.
My mum was stationed there A.T.S she looked after the “special” prisoners. They were held in solitary cells. They got very well fed. Germans had German style food, Italians had Italian food. She was ordered never to talk to them, but she did as she felt sorry them not being able to communicate with anyone. She especially liked one German prisoner. He gave her a Messerschmitt airplane filed from a coin. She was afraid to keep it in case she got found out so she buried it under a tree nearby in forest. She went to find it when she was demobbed but forgot which tree.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Both parts are awesome, so glad you didn't hurry through either explore and actually looked around properly. The conversion on that bunker is fantastic glad someone has found love and appreciation for it. Thanks for sharing this, will check out your other content. Subscribed obviously :)
I am so glad I watched both parts. I was impressed by the original bunker, but blown away by what had been done to convert the other part into a recording studio. What a great use of a former space. Kudos. I have subscribed to your channel. I love URBEX, and this was a great mix of old and new.
Just watching this after being subscribed for over 5 years and it's great to see the redevelopment of existing Heritage instead of it going to Rot! I have to say that the Youth project and 'Recording Studio' idea is fantastic! BUT It would be like the echo chamber from Hell without Anechoic panelling on the walls!
The Harnham chalk pit is on the OS map of 1901 but by 1923 the map then shows Lime Kiln established, and by 1937 buildings had appeared including one which was levelled with a Cut Bench Mark by the OS surveyors. I suspect the brick remains were those buildings, the tunnel elements were probably part of the lime kilns.
A Good idea for a studio and nice finish with first bunker liked the other untouched bunker in the woods excellent historical Documentary both sites thanks . Definitely women in business award contender .
Ah now I'd forgotten about these boys! I was the person who managed to find the bunker in Plessey Woods, Northumberland. That bunker had been mapped incredibly badly (on purpose perhaps?) and no-one could find it. Long story short I enlisted the help of old time poachers and they sent me onto the right place. The Plessey one was detonated post war but the walls and escape tunnel are very visible. The escape tunnel leads to a 140 foot drop down a very steep slope and into a river below. I couldn't find buried wires in trees (aerials) and a lot of sheet metal had been robbed out. Turned out those poachers of old had taken the arched metal many decades previously and made shelters to sit under - like small canopies! They've painted them black too. I actually found those poachers shelters eventually. The site in your video is very well preserved. Other tunnels I've seen were made of wood like small coal mines.
Are there any pics or vids of this site. There are some lads more up that way who could look into it if you have an exact map ref... email me if you do plz.
The music studio was awesome. What a fantastic use of a derelict space.Well done to all concerned and to yourselves for featuring it. I would really like to visit and record a track there.
There was a room in the other bunker just like the one he described here room with a window and a red light Hum that was some kind of studio or video conferencing room for who ever to stay in touch with control !. Thank you 🙏 blessings ,,
That's a brilliant recording!! From exploring the original ruins from wartime`s. Then a walk around as it it now after development .. impressive !! It would have been really nice to see if you/developer could have merged image and recordings of how it was all done.. ( images will be tucked away for sure ) This has to be a construction nightmare , but they did it !!
Wow!! What a bunker was such amazing to see from transformation Old to New a recording studio I loved All the airline pipelines along the ceilings and also all the ultra modern fixtures and furniture and what about the oak wooden flooring that was original I have never seen that before in a war bunker before 👍🏻😊
I've lived locally/near/around Salisbury all my life and never knew about the other bunker featured in this video! I know 'the bunker' well however. The owners live a few doors down to me, I almost got a job there as a teacher. I was a little over familiar with my friend (who I've also known for years) who interviewed me and swore a bit too much! Lessons learned 😆 but a very interesting, historic place and Interesting to learn more about it. I seem to recall meeting Kayleigh too. They were still working on getting the rooms finished when I was there. Ross and Kayleigh were in and out. But Ross gave me a tour after and was also present for the interview. I believe she rather kindly made me a cup of coffee. Nice, friendly lass. 😊
There used to be a music practice area in Grosvenor House by the railway station. But GH is now shut down and I wondered if it was the same group organising the bunker studios.
Your channel is fascinating. Thank you for these videos. I'd been in the cold war bunker near Shrewsbury (the ladders down are now VERY rusty and your at serious risk smashing your legs up if you fall) and from what I'd been told, they never used it at all, and at one time, even left behind old early forms of hazmat type gear.
Another super documented place that should now have a future. How fortunate are they to have got hold of this place and have the funds to convert. I cant help but imagine if I owned it, how cool to live inside. The silence we all at some point long for. Super camera work, it never felt anything other than professional. Hat of to you again for one hour and thirty minutes of video pleasure. Keep up the good work. Many thanks.
That is one truly interesting explore Matthew and well worth a watch. Nice to see the old Cold War bunker has been turned into something useful rather than a vandalised wreck, a shame it’s lost some of its old features but hopefully they are in a museum somewhere locally. Keep up the good work.
its great how its being used rather than just decaying into rubble. the girl said maps etc were found and i do think it would have been nice to see them framed and hanging on walls around the bunker but im glad however they are in a safe place for generations to view.
@@TheSecretVault No its a pretty normal looking building tbh, it was close to the Kirkby amunition factory. If you search 'Simonswood industrial estate kirkby' on maps it's the building to the left as you go in. There may well be other parts left intact in the vicinity, I think there was a large explosion at the amunition works during the war.
The old bunker which is now a recording studio was a communications centre in WW2 my Aunt worked there during the war. I haven't been out there for years but am 69 and grew up exploring Harnham Hill, near the bunker there are steps that take you to the top of the hill and about half way up there was what looked like an old well, when I was young it wasn't sealed up and you could open it and see the metal ladder going down into the bunker. It isn't deep enough to be an effective shelter in a Nuclear war but in WW2 it could protect vital communications from and air raid.

You can get a Lidar unit thing for your drone and be able to search the lightly to medium overgrown structures there is also a chance in summer weather or a sunny day in the winter you could locate some of the structures with thermal imaging that is also a not to bad investment for a drone commercial pilot tool box.
The Fire Brigade used to do excersizes in the bunker back in the 70's until there was an accident.. I heard from the fire brigade that the bunker was many levels..
Regarding Savernake forest it was just an ammo dump, there is just one of the old buildings remaining there is an old gun placement near the edge of the forest as it was serviced by trains, I know foresters that have been working in there for years and they have never come across anything.

Exactly what I thought. That studio control room and annex were what we in the MoD would've called a 'Comcen'.
What a great way to make use of the space, I worked in Amazon studios near Liverpool back in the 80's and that was built in an old amunition store.
