Does Nayib Bukele's reelection violate El Salvador's constitution?

  • Incumbent President Nayib Bukele has declared victory in El Salvador's recent election, claiming over 80 percent of the vote in a record-breaking outcome. Over 76,000 Salvadorans have been detained without trial under Bukele since a state of exception was first declared in March 2022. While a majority of Salvadorans approve of Bukele, critics have long decried his government's authoritarianism, and are now raising questions about the legitimacy of his recent reelection. The Real News reports from El Salvador.

Violating the rights of criminals is apparently not one of the largest concerns of El Salvador citizens. Most governments try to tackle crime with one hand tied behind their backs. The primary responsibility of a legal system should be to protect the innocent, not the rights of criminals.

Funny to see how the previous “democratic” govern, ents didn’t address the security problem in 30 years after the civil war, but profited from the problem letting the common citizen abandoned to their fate under the gangs dictatorship.
The human rights of the majority was increasingly and systematically violated by the gangs with unwilling and impotent governments. Under the gangs dictatorship there was no right to transit, no right to life, no right to due process, no right of expression, no right to education, no right to enjoy the fruits of their labour, no right to peaceful enjoy, ent of life, no right to safety.

Repost because Tony Mena in the comments reported my comment because that would proven him wrong, well you cannot silence the truth :
"Actualy I am from El Salvador & I am from the most dangerous part, Soyapango. I grew up there during the worst of times & I know what I am currently seeing where it will lead us.
Bukele has brought safety but no PEACE. Safety but at what cost? A history that EL Salvador left behind many years is now repeating itself in the form of a dictatorship ( which is nothing to be proud of ) . Do you know what other country locks up it's own people without a fair day in court? North Korea & now my country El Salvador. The only two countries in the world who do this & admit it.
I am not a bad person for asking my country & my president to do better than what is being done today. IF Bukele changes a few things like not putting our pople in jail without a fair day in court & to stop breaking the consitution as he sees fit then & only then can he be acknowledged as the greatest Presidente of all the Americas but until then ... Stay safe & fight for your freedoms Amigos.
      Hasta la Mu3rt3 "

The Opposition should stop bitching about little things... Try to appreciate that the daily murders have stopped or would they rather it continue? If those "innocents" were running free before the murders were apprehended, they could've been dead by now anyway so why the bitching? Some things take time to process 💪

This is very interesting. Remember folks, “By their fruits we shall know them.” Let’s see how this unfolds, Bukele might be another wolf in sheep’s clothing.
