    The fact that you can pick up any Blackmagic camera with one lens (and a pocket of batteries) and shoot anything from commercials to documentaries in such a small package while still having access to XLRs, full-sized HDMI, and proper timecode without any silly dongle is incredible! Not to mention the flexibility we get from BRAW, which has saved me countless times in documentary situations. People love to complain.

    A backup camera is a must. I learned this from working on TV shows in LA. We always had one camera standing by ready to go. It was built up with out a lens and battery. Time was money on these shows and it came in handy on numerous occasions.

    Thank you for your suggestions. I have been following your videos for a very long time, and your testing of all cameras has been so thorough. I read that the bmcc6k FF has 4 internal microphones with wind noise cancellation and shock isolation, but I cant hear from any of the reviewers about it. If you can let us know about the quality of the internal mics it'd be great. I make travel videos and internal microphones would be so good.

    One thing in regard to the size that you didn’t mention (unless for some reason I missed that) is that you have a 5” monitor on the back, so nailing your shot is so much easier. I like that they basically include a usable monitor.
    Also, great thing with L Mount, is there’s a hole that you can screw your PL adapter on to so it is more stable and less likely to fidget around.
    Basically, this really is a fantastic camera, and seems like people just wanna complain about certain things.

      I attribute this largely to many younger DPs and camera ops have come of working age in an era where AF (not for cinema shooting) is considered a necessity and having something that weighs literally almost nothing is a standard as well. The more I have used AF, the more I have begun rejecting it for anything creative. Sure, if you are shooting a bread and butter event, wedding, even some kinds of documentary coverage, AF can reduce headaches for a OMB type of situation. But if you are shooting anything where you are creating and controlling a visually driven story, manual focus is essential and will be for the foreseeable future. AF is just too simple and arbitrary and it doesn't look human, at all.
      As far as size and weight, I began with a 30lb Betacam in the late 90s, added in a loaded Arri SR2 package so size and weight are all relative. To me, the size and weight of a loaded 6K FF is a dream. Not too small and heavy, not too large and heavy and I am going to add a handle, baseplate, V Mount, FF anyway. The form factor of the Pocket 6K make shoulder mounted shooting almost impossible but that's okay as I have recently picked up an Easy Rig and a rigged out 6K Cinema FF will be perfect on the Easy Rig Mini Max.
      This camera is definitely the biggest bang for the buck available right now, short of the Ursa 12k and what you get for a mere $2,500 is simply amazing. You're right, people do love to bitch and moan. There are so many choices available right now that are so high quality, just pick your poison.

    The CC 6K seems like a good starting point for Blackmagic going into full frame. A camera I keep not being talked about enough is the Ursa Broadcast G2. It's essentially the 6K Pro in an Ursa body. It's Super 35 sensor with the EF mount, but an Ursa that can shoot 6K with Gen 5 color is something not to sleep on if you're looking for an Ursa model camera.

    Ciao Matteo!
    I love your work and I really appreciate the knowledge you share here in RUclips.
    I’ve been shooting with Sony mirrorless cameras for 7 years or so. They pack a lot of features in small bodies. They are quite convenient. But I’ve always been drawn to Blackmagic colors and texture. I mainly shoot corporate and documentary work. I’m considering the purchase of the BMCC 6K full frame for personal and documentary style work. I could easily pair it with my Nikon AI-S lenses with an adapter. There are two factors that hold me back: the lack of stabilization in the BMCC 6K and the fact that I edit with FCP and I don’t know if it can handle Blackmagic Raw and/or make the most of it Vs DaVinci Resolve. Could you please shed some light on these topics? Grazie!

    Hi Matteo , why the Sony a7s3 is good enough for shooting the movie the creator , with an rs2 and a ninja v , but not even good enough for your holiday video ? This is a true question. I like what you do with the BM.

    • @matteobertoli
      @matteobertoli  10 месяцев назад +1

      The Creator is the biggest marketing stunt in recent history. It’s a movie that nobody would have ever cared if it wasn’t shot with a FX3. On top of using insanely expensive lenses with an external recorder, they probably dropped a couple of millions in color grading and VFX, and at that point, they could have shot it with a 5D Mark II. So the only point in using a FX3 is because they did a case study and realized it was probably the most sold camera in the past couple of years. By shooting with that camera they knew all the media outlets would have talked about it. As simple as that. I don’t buy any of the things they said regarding color science, easy to use etc. They could have easily used a FX9 or an Ursa or a Pocket, or a Komodo for that matter. For my line of work, where I don’t have millions to hide the issue of a camera, Sony simply doesn’t work. At least with the internal recording the dynamic range is not as good as a Pocket, roll-off is extremely harsh and the skin tones don’t look as natural as Blackmagic. On top of that the FX3, like any other Sony, does a very poor job in managing mix color temperature lights, for example in the street. Did many tests with all kind of Sony and I really wanted my ZV-E1 (same FX3 sensor) to be good enough for me, but it simply isn’t. Not even with my Leica Rs.

    • @donnieyen4
      @donnieyen4 10 месяцев назад +1

      The movie is great , so if they shot on Alexa , people gonna watch it as well. I watched it because I like the director. He shot the movie by himself , with a very small set up. Basically a ronin rs2. Not even the rs3 pro haha
      That’s why he didn’t use an fx9 for example. Too heavy for their set up.
      They used the cheapest anamorphic lenses on the market , and some laowa as well.

    • @jockturner1547
      @jockturner1547 10 месяцев назад

      The reality is The Creator could have been shot on an FX3, BMCC6k, LUMIX s5iix and anything else that has internal cooling and raw over HDMI. Tilta has a new cage system specifically for the BMCC6K (FF). I opted to by the parts individually to make my own custom system. But in typical Titla style, the new cage system isn't completely compatible with the older parts - you need to visually inspect and RTFM to confirm compatibility with your existing Tilta parts.
