Velshi Banned Book Club: 'And Tango Makes Three'
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 15 окт 2024
- 25 years ago, two male penguins at the Central Park Zoo bonded, caring for an egg that hatched into a chick named Tango. The true story inspired authors Justin Richardson & Peter Parnell, becoming “And Tango Makes Three,” a feel-good, beautifully illustrated story about family dynamics, love, identity, and acceptance. On the page, readable and family friendly - off the page, an emblem of the censorship and freedom of speech firestorm that has engulfed our nation’s libraries and public schools. The story has become ubiquitous in literary and education circles and the penguin characters - real and in the story -- have become political warriors in and of themselves.

#BannedBooks #Books #LGBTQ
It's a book about freakin penguins. It could be about raccoons or polar bears or whatever. If its a true factual story, why get upset about it?
Because it's easier to get upset about things that don't actually harm anyone than face the issues that do. As long as conservatives distract themselves with things like banning books about penguins, they don't have to think about important issues that put their children at real risk of harm.
I love that book. It’s in my bookcase because I wanted my kids to know the story
I can see how 'banning' children's books about homosexualPenguins is such a bigger threat to freedom of speech than YT erasing all comments about what happened a week ago and even handing out 24 hour time outs for people who persist in talking about something we all saw with our own eyes
The narrative must be protected at all costs.
Loved this story, and read it to my children. So grateful it wasn’t banned at my library.
The children are much more intelligent than the book banners. Let's listen to the children. ❤
The alphabet mafia just can't leave the kids alone. Wonder why ?
I've always wondered about that. They can't have children of their own, so the only way they can have a legacy is adoption or going after other people's kids. For years they've chanted 'we're here. we'reQueer and we're coming for your kids'. They chant that during almost every march.
Statistically speaking christians are far more likely to SA children than any other group in the US- I encourage you and everyone else to look up the stats it's pretty disturbing.
It's a book about penguins. A true story. About penguins. In what world is this harmful to literally anyone?
Because they are P-RIDERS on the P-RIDE.
I love this book! I read it io my toddler often.
I'm not a fan of banning books. Make books age appropriate
I know this network isn’t considered the news, but don’t they have an obligation to telling the truth?
You can't handle the truth.
This book is not banned and is readily available through most online booksellers. That, is the truth. The book is not banned.
Maybe we shouldn't make books that are about LGBT specifically for very young children.
It’s a true story about two penguins that take in an orphan
L
Once again, this book is not banned. It is available online at most booksellers such as Walmart, Target and eBay. The book is available and can be purchased by parents for their children. This book is readily available and not banned.
Oh sweety, you poor ignorant thing :( You have no idea what a banned book is. How embarrassing for you
As a Democrat I'll continue to pretend that it is banned everywhere, not just certain places, and I'll be furious about it.
And why can't the book also be made available through public libraries so kids can read it for free? If you object to having the book be so freely available, then perhaps we should do a full and thorough audit of every book available at every public library and allow people to object and have specific titles removed. Would you be fine with that?
They're talking about these books being banned in libraries and public schools, not the general public.
Did you watch the video? They specifically discussed how most parents in America can't afford to buy a bunch of books for their kids. That's what libraries (public and at school) are for. I grew up in a middle class family but even for me, probably 90% of the books I read (and I read a LOT) were books I borrowed from the school library or the public library. Removing books from libraries is essentially banning them for anyone who can't afford to buy books whenever they want to. Which is most Americans. This is a book ban.
What country is this host referring to? There are no banned books in the US. I can order any book I want online or in any number of bookstores.
huh?
You can also download a PDF of this book for free. There is a also a reading of it on RUclips. No such thing as a banned book in 2024.
All 3 of you are heroes, banning books is shameful
Will never vote *BLUE* again.😢
Tatah! 👋
Ill vote blue because I have tolerance and believe other people should be happy even if their lifestyle is different than my own
How are you able to acquire these books if they're banned?
If they were banned you wouldn't be able to buy them anywhere, parents just don't want our children exposed to age inappropriate books.
If your kid has access to a library, they have access to this book. It is free to download or watch a reading of on RUclips.
@@magicalfrijoles6766 Then it's not banned?
Thank God I don't live in the US, and that my grandsons are pupils at BC, Aussie, and international schools. American society is running backwards to the 50s at an ever increasing pace.
So you like Mark Twain do ya?
❤
hey, not to mentionTRUE STORY!! jeez
UNO
Censorship can be a great thing , and some people should be banned from news media platforms, like Donald Trump for example.
Because you don't like him and are king of the world 😂

😂😅🤤🤣
I read this book to my preschool class. It’s such a sweet book.
Schools teach kids about gheys, but not how to read, write and do math.
@@bob-bobloblaw3469 that’s not true.
@@Michael-z5t3h nope, you don’t even know what the book is about. I actually read it to the class when we’re studying penguins. By your logic though, there should be no books in the classroom talking about families, kindness, caring for each other, peace, helping others etc.
@@bob-bobloblaw3469 I’m a Montessori teacher so my students are with me for 3 years with their kindergarten year being their third year. By the time the kids are doing their kindergarten year they already know how to write and basic addition and subtraction. By the end of their kindergarten year they are all doing word building and reading (at different levels) and many are working on multiplication and division and learning about fractions. I have never heard of any preschool teachers teaching about “gheys”. Unless you think teaching kids to be kind to all people is a bad thing?
@@gabs7506 How about you tell us your take on what it's about?
TRUMP 2024 🥳🥳🥳
Ban msnbc ASAP pls
YT made their decision... MSDNC can say anything they want and people who speak the truth will get 24 hour suspensions
