  • Cromer is a seaside holiday town near Sheringham and Norwich in North Norfolk, England. With a great beach, the famous Cromer Pier, and a fantastic seafront it's a popular holiday destination for those looking for a day trip or holiday at the seaside.
Cromer is often considered a great holiday destination for several reasons:
Cromer is a picturesque coastal town located on the North Norfolk coast in England. Its beautiful sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, and charming pier offer breathtaking views of the North Sea. The coastal setting provides opportunities for coastal walks, beach activities, and enjoying the fresh sea air.
Cromer has a rich history as a traditional seaside resort, and it has managed to retain its old-world charm. Visitors can experience the nostalgia of a bygone era with its Victorian architecture, narrow streets, and quaint shops. The town's traditional fisherman heritage is still evident, and you can sample some of the best seafood in the area.
Cromer Pier: The iconic Cromer Pier is a major attraction and offers entertainment for all ages. You can watch live shows at the Pavilion Theatre, including comedy acts, musicals, and plays. The pier is also famous for its end-of-the-pier show, the Seaside Special, which has been running for over 40 years.
Cromer is renowned for its local delicacy, the Cromer crab. The town is known for its fresh seafood, especially crab dishes, which are a must-try for seafood enthusiasts. You can find numerous restaurants and cafes offering a wide variety of delicious seafood options.
The surrounding area of Cromer is known for its outstanding natural beauty. The North Norfolk Coast is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and offers stunning landscapes, nature reserves, and wildlife. Visitors can explore the Norfolk Coast Path, enjoy birdwatching, or visit nearby nature reserves like Blakeney Point, which is home to a seal colony.
Cromer and its surroundings offer various outdoor activities for visitors. From walking and cycling along the coast to golfing, fishing, and water sports, there's something for everyone. You can also take boat trips or hire a crabbing boat to try your hand at catching Cromer crabs.
Cromer is a family-friendly destination with plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. Alongside the beach, there are amusement arcades, a traditional fairground, and a mini-golf course. The town also hosts various events and festivals throughout the year, including the popular Cromer Carnival.
Cromer's combination of stunning coastal scenery, traditional charm, delicious cuisine, and a range of activities make it a great holiday destination for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway.

Have spent many happy holidays in Cromer with nice walks along the cliff top to the lighthouse and golf course and beyond to Overstrand. The town has character with the air of a typical seaside resort. An added bonus of course is just a few miles along the coast you have another very nice place in the form of Sheringham. Two for the price of one! Definitely a mark of ten for both.

The lifeboat station is actually right at the end of the pier. The old lifeboat station that you saw I believe is part of the museum 🙂. At the start of your walk you missed the goats that graze on the cliffs where the white steps are that take you up to the road. Thanks for a beautiful video from a Mundesley dweller 🙂

Does anyone remember in the early 1960s watching the new lifeboat arrive at Cromer? I am not sure if it was the Henry Blogg or if that was the out going boat, and it being very unceremoniously damaged before it could be accepted? It was very sad because all the town Dignitaries and a great many visitors were watching. The boat had to return to the boatyard for repair! No one seems to remember, perhaps it was one of those things best not remembered!
