Rick is my older brother. This interview is so “Rick.” Self deprecating and so unimpressed by all the amazing things he accomplished. He almost for sure didn’t see it that way, but I do. Thank you for posting this. It was super cool for me to be able to watch and almost feel like he was still here.
I just learned yesterday of his passing. Rick was my next door neighbour on 19th St. in Brooklyn and we'd look after each other's cats when one of us was going away, and chat over the fence, talked a little bit about music, stuff like that. He was always so quiet, so chill, and then the first time I saw him playing in Manhattan at a Hot Snakes show I was blown away that this intense madman on stage was the same guy I'd strain to hear when we were talking. Sorry for your loss. He was über-cool.
Firstly, I am sorry for your loss. Your brother has touched a lot of people around the world with his art- I live in Australia. I find his art, music and even listening to him compelling.
I've just found out about Rick's death. I'm in shock. Drive Like Jehu's albums are singular in music. For me particularly the first album is a favourite but they are both masterpieces. Rest In Power you genius.
Unbelievable. Have vivid memories of blasting Yank Crime through my headphones in the subway while I was angsty teenager. Rick will truly be missed. RIP
Holy shit. I didn't know Rick died. Fuck me. One of the greats. I have had the art from Yank Crime tattooed on my forearm for years. Phenomenal artist. Music, art, etc. Big ups to him & all that he created. What a loss. Cheers!!(A)
RIP Rick. Was fortunate enough to see Jehu and Hot Snakes several times. Meet Rick a few of those times, and he was always kind and humble. Also, got to meet Jim back in the 90’s in El Paso when I was with selling merch for a band on Dr. Strange. He put us up for the night and gave out some ATDI 7”. Then got to see them briefly before as a monsoon swept through El Paso and took one of their friends through the street river. Just great times back in those days & great people. Nice to get nostalgic about it. Thanks Rick and Jim for the lasting impact you’ve had on my life. My damn near 50 now and your music still feels like yesterday
RIP Rick. So great talking to you in RVA so many years ago. You bled rock and roll. Thank you for the music and art. The drive like jehu tour (short) bus has stuck with me.
jim, thank you for this interview. like you DLJ/hot snakes are very important bands to me. Rick is one of the punk rock greats. The rick/john reis guitar partnership is unrivalled.
In tucson - where I saw em twice - they would have so much fire and in some seriously sketchy venues, plus orgies and pig guts.. it was a lot for 19 year old me.
Holy smokes! I just realized that's Jim / James Ward from Sparta / At The Drive-In. EPIC. Two of my favorite frontmen from this era, and in general. What a treat!
Fitting that you pick their most obscure, AND FUCKING BEST SONG, as the intro. Those dissonant guitars and trombinos fills go so hard. I still can't believe Rick is dead. I got into this band too late.
Oh man this was amazing. Rick was just a special guy who didn’t really want to acknowledge that. Guy was a huge part of a lot of stuff. Truly enjoyed watching this
Exceptional interview. I was so excited when this dropped! I got into Jehu and Hot Snakes in my late 20s and haven't looked back. He died 20 days ago. 55 years old and he was still looking forward. Rick saying he " just wants to live a good life" hit like a cold knife. Live it to the fullest folks.
It freaks me out - that i'm 5 years younger than him (i love jehu / hot snakes) - saw them not long ago - they were amazing. and he "died suddenly of natural causes"..

My condolences about your brother. May he live on in your memory and the music.
Did he get the Vax?

Your bros vocals will always ring true in my soul. one of the best ever!
RIP Rick, jamming hot snakes and drive like jehu today in your honor ♥
Rest Easy Rick. So sudden. An SD legend. Thanks for all the great tunes!
This guy's sense of humour is hilarious. I know guys like him, very realistic and down to earth, not phased by much. RIP

Rest in power RIck! You were an inspiration to so many.

Humble AF. Rick inspired so much. Fuckin' legend.

Rest in Power Rick, what a blessing to be on Earth the same time at this guy
Rick will be very missed. RIP. Not one thing can replicate his Art / Music / Guitar playing & Voice. So Unique. Inspirational. Perfection

I'm sad beyond anything he shaped many of generations...
Thanks Rick you can rest easy knowing you are a hero in rock
Much love to Rick and his friends & family. Rule in Peace.
I'm glad I drove 4 hours a couple of years ago to see a show with Hot Snakes. RIP Mr Fröberg!
RIP Rick. So great talking to you in RVA so many years ago. You bled rock and roll. Thank you for the music and art. The drive like jehu tour (short) bus has stuck with me.
Perfect interview to document a humble, inspirational bloke that has left us with cool art and music 🔥
Oh, Rick. You are missed… thank you for everything.
RIP Rick, you were awesome!
I just heard the news. I'll never forget the first time I listened to Yank Crime. Rest in power Rick

So humble. What a great interview. RIP. Saw Hot Snakes once in Philly. They ruled!
Saw them here in Australia about 20 years ago, amongst the best shows I’ve ever attended
jim, thank you for this interview. like you DLJ/hot snakes are very important bands to me. Rick is one of the punk rock greats. The rick/john reis guitar partnership is unrivalled.
Damn man. Thanks for sharing with us while you could. Super bummed about this news.
Aw, the question about the future 😭 RIP Rick Fork
Great Interview. You summed up and stated a lot of my thoughts about Rick and Jehu/Snakes very, very well. Really great Episode.
The inspiration from DLJ to ATD-I is obvious and beautiful. This is very wholesome. Rick is already so sorely missed. Great episode, Jim
Saw Crash Worship a few times, Rick is really underselling how crazy their live shows were.
VERY VERY VERY much.. i saw em twice and they scared the shit out of me.
They had a giant live snake, like a python that they would bring out of a cloth bag and hold up it was BIG
In tucson - where I saw em twice - they would have so much fire and in some seriously sketchy venues, plus orgies and pig guts.. it was a lot for 19 year old me.

Really not remotely obscure for dlj
excellent interview. RIP Rick!!
RIP. One of the best
Oh man this was amazing. Rick was just a special guy who didn’t really want to acknowledge that. Guy was a huge part of a lot of stuff. Truly enjoyed watching this
What great luck to get this interview in before Rick’s passing. Love Rick’s vocals so much. He was so awesome.
Jim is fanboying so hard and Rick isn't having it.
Thank you so much for this, Jim. Such a true genuine conversation. The part he says "I´m still here" is so emotional.
Legend! Rip Rick
The interviewer looks like a young Norm Macdonald! I dont know his band, but will check out after watching this - Great interview - RIP Froberg.
totally heartbroken. R.I.P. Rick

great interview, can't wait for the next one!
I'd say Rick is a howler rather than a screamer, but what a great howler
cool interview jim, will miss rick as long as i live.
i had NO idea he was in crash worship. RIP Rick, it's so fucked up he's dead.
Amazing! Love Rick's projects and art! Keep them coming Jim!
If I stop reading YT comments all my favorite artists will live forever...

Pitchfork as well.
Also, nice pick with Chameleon playing. One of the best songs ever recorded by humans...
It freaks me out - that i'm 5 years younger than him (i love jehu / hot snakes) - saw them not long ago - they were amazing. and he "died suddenly of natural causes"..
Love you Rick! Fuck....

Insert clot shot💉 emoji here
R.I.P. Rick.
No one wants to think about it cause most people got it but its crazy how often the ''suddenly'' thing is happening.
Dammit!! Love this dude and Jim as well. What an inspiration to so many and myself included.
