- What makes a monster? What does a monster really mean? What is a broken heart? Vince Staples made an insanely good and thematically consistent album which I try to explain while saying "cohesive" probably about 24 times too many. @vincestaples

My name on Reddit is "losermobile" for a weird reason.
That's still my favorite Vince Staples album. "Dark Times" is amazing and maybe it'll take over as my favorite album but I play "Ramona Park Broke My Heart" all the time still.
You might be my favorite RUclipsr at the moment. You’re no frills and you’re just an authentic personality. You’re also consistently using your platform for good and its rare I see people from around where we are doing that.
This deserves a billion views
Thanks!
FD Signifier fan? incredible
Hell yes!
Vince has been one of my favorite rappers for years, and seeing him get his respect and flowers has been amazing. Your viewpoints and understanding of his music legitimately makes me happy. He is a heartbreakingly great artist and this album is probably the greatest testament to that. 💔
Also, my only criticism is that Vince is very much so a Crip. He talks about being from the set and his “crippin’” being intact. Check his cave freestyle with Kenny beats. It’s insanely good, but throughout that and his music, he is very much so “taking a side” as a Crip. So if anything, it further reinforces how these tragic situations and gang ties lead to someone having so much loss and sadness spread throughout his music.
Again, phenomenal video man.
I’m from LBC & I gotta say this is an Incredible video
On "PAPERCUTS", there's another layer...The line "We don't wanna hear that bull****, Sharif!" is a reference to the positive religious character in Menace II Society who ends up killed in a crossfire despite all of his efforts to follow God out of the ghetto.
Billy Woods next Professor!
absolutely love this album, awesome job on the review as well ! this has easily became one of my favorite channels
i see u with the BH profile pic Connor.
Man I reluctantly clicked on that fd signifier video after I had just been drowned in will smith nothingness for the past two weeks, but god I’m I so glad I did, one of the best essays on this platform
Me too in 2024 😂
I didn't want to watch it but I love the video
You're magic to me, Professor Skye.
Will have to revisit this one after I take a few more listens. Listened through once and it really resonated
If you like his more “pop” songs you should give big fish theory a listen. He raps over a lot of dance beats. You would enjoy love can be
Thanks for the link to FC, Gonna do exactly what u said and disregard your video for a sec and watch his. I'll come back tho!
aight I'm back, watched a few of his vids
I hope you review the new Yung Lean album ! You had so much to say about the Bladee and Ecco2k album and Yung Lean has had arguably even more influence in hip hop !
I second this
I know you loved Armand Hammer, are you going to review the new Billy Woods album? Incredible writing as always.
I appreciate you.
What you said in regard to familial love really resonated because I can relate to growing up a struggling family and that affecting my family relationship. fortunately my mom got a degree so she was earning a decent amount and still able to see us but my father had to work all day and by the time he got home us kids were asleep so I never got to know my dad from a young age and now at 20 yrs old we have an awkward relationship and only because we share a few interests
omfg this review is fucking AMAZING
Professor Skye shouting out FD Signifier is the epitome of greatness recognizing greatness.
i think this is my favorite album of the year so far
I’ve been listening to this album on repeat this is just desert :))))
This album is amazing but I can’t help and express how much I adore Daniel Rossen’s new album. I love grizzly bear and each of their albums but this quite literally surpasses any of those! Please professor do yourself in a favor and review it, not because I selfishly want to see a video about it but because I think it will genuinely be worth your time!
Here's a great interview with Vince: ruclips.net/video/rnOizcYx1fo/видео.html He talks about how many of his friends have died and how he wouldn't even be a rapper if Mac Miller didn't force him to and present him with opportunities. He also gets into the cycle of violence and performance in rap.
love this review! I have 2 recent album recommendations btw:
1) Will Crooks - Running as Fast as I can
2) Material Girl - i85mixx21-22
Both great albums that are not getting enough love.
Can you look into reviewing an album called "I'm in your Walls" by Death Insurance?
DJ Quik was actually scratching on DJ Quik
Please review Ivory by Omar Apollo
please review that new Billy Woods record
Dollar menu 2 next hopefully
I wont tell whats magic for me 'cause u told me to not tell expecting me to actually tell
This made my perspective on this album completely flip
Nas fans, stand down! Hear the man out.
Did you ever watch Beyonce's Lemonade? It might rewire your memories
