Martial Artists React to God of War Ragnarök
I found this Thor so intimating and so much more powerful than MCU Thor.
And more of a jerk.
@@deanospimoniful he had a rough life. can't blame him that much.
i doubt mcu thor was ever meant to be intimidating from the start, he was (in the same first movie) hated at the start then loved at the end, but neither were related to intimidation, and despite what people think (last two movies) he was always meant to be comedic
They picked a good voice for thor too
It's not a competition, both are interpretations of Thor. MCU Thor is based on both myth and comics whilst GOW Thor is just myth, because of this Marvel have many more ways they can make the character
they should have shown off the heimdall fight, there's actually implementation of technique and its wonderfully done
The only noteworthy techniques I noticed while playing is Kratos using elbows and knees against Bjorn, and of course the tenacious boxing against Heimdal.
@@My6119 yeah a better example would be back in GOW4 where he put the hands on baldur in their first fight
@@rupturedtides4831 He came at him like Braun Strowman.
Kratos: I'M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU
When Heimdall fights Atreus the first time the animations of Heimdall parrying and dodging arrows and strikes are some of the best animations in the entire game.
@@Jagernotty it's like as if you're fighting against Ip Man
Kratos isn't holding the chain and the sword, he holds the swords and the chains are wrapped around his arms extremely tightly (they even use to be physically attached and apart of him before)
Edit: after looking at the design of them, it looks like the chains are attached to the armor on Kratos's forearm as well.
yes but when he throws a sword and whips with it, some of the chain has to unravel and he has to pull it back without hitting himself
The chains are still part of him. He can never truly get rid of them as they always come back if he throws them away
I love the Blades of Chaos but I never did fully understand how they worked, I mean ya obviously the chains are supposed to be attached to the blades but they just dont make sense to me sometimes because what they should be showing is the chains attached to the swords and yey every now and then you can clearly see that they aren't, for example when he puts them on his back you can see the chains aren't wrapped up in the handle and so on. So what's the deal there like how does that work or make sense and after they were taken off and he put them back on how does that work too because weren't the chains supposed to be like literally seared into his armes, hence the scars
@@gbtygfvyg how'd you know that?
@@damn6039 It's shown in one of the comics. Kratos tried (a lot) to get rid of the blades after destroying the Greek Pantheon. However whenever he woke up from a nap the blades would teleport to his location.
Disappointed they didn't get shown Heimdall. Would've liked to see if they catch what Kratos does is the 3 scenes where Kratos lands a hit on him.
people would be angry about them showing the spear.
those same people are probably angry having learned that Atreus is a playable character.
@TheoreticalExistence yea, but people find a way to be angry about anything. It still would've been cool since that part was one of the coolest imo, it shows Kratos is not just a brute.
@@theoreticalexistence9630 it's their own fault if they got spoiled. Why would you watch a game content on youtube, you know there will be spoilers.
@@theoreticalexistence9630 yea but why would you click on this video if you hadn't played the full game yourself?
@@rayvincyful1 my point exactly.
I would have liked to see the spear too.
Not even 20 seconds in and we already get a cheeky joke from Gemma. It's why we love her 😂
Yeah, she is the best.
Heimdall boss fight had so much detail to it
Initially he throws some powerful punches to gauge heimdall and throughout their fight kratos switches to fast strikes to overwhelm his foresight and lays one one in, it was very satisfying and well thought of
U beat me to it
Yall don't have proof to of the "gauging" thing, he was just getting out-paced by heimdall. His actual switch-up, apart from the spear, was forcing Heimdall into situations where even if Heimdall can tell what's going to happen, he physically can't avoid the hit
@@CL-vw5bbbro go back and watch that again, he throws those combos faster and faster each time. 2nd time landing on his bracers and third time decking him in the face
@@SpdDemonAL yes..? do you think I missed that...?
@@CL-vw5bb we can clearly see whats going on. He tests his response times the 1st time, takes advantage of this to force him to block a faster attack the 2nd time and in the third he doenst just get faster, he leads heimdell into blocking again but this time kratos grabbed the bracer and yanks him into a punch so he cant dodge.
The Rope Dart MIGHT be a real world equivalent to the Blades of Chaos. When you play as Atreus, you might notice that his moves are much more inspired by existing martial arts. His bow works a lot like a staff or club since it's more of a bludgeoning attack. His combos seem to include something like a spin kick. He doesn't hit as hard as Kratos, but he's more nimble and a bit faster in his attacks.
Another one I'm thinking of is the kusarigama, the sickle with a chain attached to the weight. If I remember correctly though it was more about swinging the weighted end to entangle your opponent before closing in to attack with the sickle. Still, I'd imagine the weighted end could do some hefty bludgeoning damage too and may be the equivalent to swinging heavy blades attached to a chain!
"Blunt" lol bludgeoning, holy 5 word essay to describe how a teen uses his fully body to exert force.
No, the best equivalent would be chains with no blades on them, since that's how Kratos uses them. In reality the blades would be nearly useless because it's impossible to control the edge alignment, so you'd just be smacking foe with the chains.
No spear combat? I feel like it’s one of the most accurate portrayals of spear combat I’ve seen in games.
Barely any barehanded combat either. I'd imagine these two would have a lot more to say about spear and barehanded combat than bow melee and blades of chaos.... 🙄
Thor and Kratos fight is one of the best fight in the gaming history so far
It was not that good calm down😂😂
How was it the best fight? It was good at most and mediocre at worst
@@senatorstevenarmstrong6703 it was amazing. Your bugging. God of thunder vs god of war. The hype building up to the fight. The scaling, the music, they way they both talk trash to each other as two of the strongest gods fight to kill each other. It’s so badass y’all are hating big time
@@senatorstevenarmstrong6703 if you're talking about the gameplay, it's the guy playing the game that's the problem, he doesn't know how to be creative in a game
The dialogue was CRINGE 😬
Why didn't you have them react to Kratos vs Heimdall? That boss fight had actually an interesting combat with Kratos testing Heimdall's abilities and adapting in order to get a hit.
"are those swords? or they're like whips!" bruh imagine watching god of war and not knowing about the blades of chaos.
1:00 quote of the year
The beauty of that Thor fight is Thor at this moment is basically in the same place as Olympus Trilogy Kratos. He's basically fighting his past self, and Thor has that same fury and relentlessness that Kratos had as he raged against Olympus and the traitorous Titans.
But the thing is, Thor isn't as strong as kratos nor was he going full power, he wasn't even going full power in the last fight and was throwing Thor like a ragdoll
Gemma's OST is 100% played using a kazoo.
Since shocking a stopped heart does nothing it implies that thor hit kratos so hard that he had a heart fibrillation event. Basically thor gave kratos a heartattack and defib'ed it for him because it would have been boring otherwise. :D
For the Blades Of Chaos the chains wrap around these guards on his forearms as he only holds the small hilts of the blades in his hands
A bit of story about the blades that Kratos uses which are swung around like whips : they are called the Blades of Chaos and while it seems like Kratos is holding the chains, they were originally fused to his flesh in his younger days.
As such, while the swings look smooth and controlled, they are literally an extension of Kratos to the point that it wouldn't be far-fetched to say he might actually be able to control their trajectory mid-swing given how accurate and deadly he was using them both in and out of combat.
Though by the time of God of War : Ragnarok, those aren't fused to his body anymore, it's somewhat understood that they can still be used like they were while the chains pretty much keep themselves wrapped to his arms when he uses them.
I love the new GoW games and just came across these Martial Artists react videos yesterday, what are the odds lol 👌🇨🇦 happy new year!
really enjoyed the hell out of this game
Simple: I see Gemma and Yoshi, I thumbs up.
The Blades of Chaos that Kratos was using in the 2nd half are bound with magic, so the chain retracts and extends when Kratos himself wants it to, allowing him to use a two handed style weapon (chain with one hand blade for the other) with just one hand/arm, and in turn allow him to dual wield two blade-chains.
"Is this the final battle?"
This shows how bizzare and long this 1st fight is
Oh this games fight scenes are so good and I love that they got all the gods accurate according to lore like how thor is actually fat Not buffed
9:30 the chains are attached to his arms (they used to be burned into the flesh, but now they are just bound with magic)
2:50 I like this shoulder throw, it’s sloppy and probably can’t do it like that in real life but when you have super strength you can get away with that.
I was very impressed with the fights in this game. Singular attacks can seem very wild and committed, but the contrast with the perfect execution of a complicated combo is beautiful
If your first boss fight has people wondering if it is the final boss fight, you have one of the biggest wins.
I wish they had explained the Chaos Blades.
I would've loved hearing their takes on the realism of the chains being wrapped around Kratos' FOREARMS, with the Blades in his actual hands.
1:13 his belly fat acted as an extra layer of natural body armor which saved him from a lethal blow. The axe just pierced a layer of fat or 2 while not hitting his vital organs.
If he was built like Chris Hemsworth he’d be dead.
Fun fact, Roman Gladiators would put on weight in their chest and stomach areas so that fat acts as an extra layer of protection against blows that are landed in order to protect their vital organs, they’ll get hurt but they’ll still be alive to keep the fight going as the weapon would only penetrate the first few layers of fat, this would not be for through and through wounds.
Which Mythology should the next God of War after The events of God of War Ragnarok for me Egyptian Mythology
I thought he came from Egypt before Ragnarock.
@@SpoodMajin No He is from Greece
@@joshualedesmasegovia watch the video by comicstorian before he came to the Norse mythology he was in the Egyptian mythos.
He’s already done that
@@SpoodMajin ehhhhh? but still… will GOW6 take place at Egypt Mythology?, i was really curious….
I don't want to be spoiled so just gonna drop this here.
Can we please have Martial Artists react to Bloody Roar? Please
Have they reacted to Bloody Roar? That would be cool to see their reactions to that :)
Yes especially since the characters all have fighting styles, and stances based purely on real martial arts.
I second this, that game has impact in the moves, and some are brutal, they would love it!
Idea: Have Tim "Spike" Davis and Kinga Philipps react to something together. I'm really interested to see them teach each other in their own fields.
That fork-like weapon is a 'mancatcher'. It's designed to pin a person to a wall or the like around the neck with those tines.
Hell yeah! Gemma in GoWR? ..rad.
We are STILL waiting for these guys to react to Lost Judgement
Not sure why we needed martial artists reacting to this but cool
8:17 shorty really said whip me daddy 😭😭
7:00
"Is this the final battle?"
Nah this is just the opening
If only they got GBG to do the gameplay for this, they would be mind blown from the combos
Good stuff! Would have been fun to see a couple more runic abilities, though
Gamology please make Gemma & Yoshi react to 'Lookism Anime' or 'Lookism Webtoon', cause they would both love the abundant and mix martial arts that's in there, plus a lot of viewers would also like it a lot
Johnny Cage: “Kratos, I thought you’re dead.”
Kratos: “I was.”
Sonya Blade: “What are you doing here?”
Kratos: “Trying to stop that.”
Thor: *appears* 🌩
For those who want to see Gemma's placement in the credits: ruclips.net/video/tJcJ-6fYi2Y/видео.html
So she acting like she doesn’t know blades of choas is ..😂
gameology are the only game journalists that arent trash at the games thank goodness
I'm surprised they didn't make a comment about atreyus using leg sweeps on the enemy during his section
Bro for all u people that want Heimdall they still don’t wanna spoil the game cuz it’s that good. This Thor fight happens literally at the beginning of the game 2 boss fights before him
its upsetting they didnt know his signature weapon
The blades of chaos stand above all video game weapons truly iconic
1:10 thor is alive because the axe really missed his vital organs, I mean he doesn't have a liver anymore but with the way he drank he probably hadn't had one for a while
I'd like to see them react to the finishing moves of the different weapons in Ragnarok
I'd love to see these guys react to and possibly play Virtua Fighter, since it draws from so many real fighting styles
Some weapons within mythology, or fan written stories of mythology, can only be used by those with extrasensory capabilities. Basically anyone above the average mortal.
It's not exactly clear how the Blades of Chaos are used with such precision and dexterity, but my personal theory is that the chains for the blades can be mentally controlled to some extent, and Kratos instinctively knows their positions as they swing around. Part of this can be explained by experience and training. But to prevent the chains from tangling up, releasing just the right length for distance, making micro adjustments mid swing, something supernatural is at play.
Science has its place. Magic changes science as it wants to.
They need to react to lost judgement because they could identify and critique the techniques better than this one
That weapon with the two points is possibly a Bident. Think Trident 🔱, but with no middle point. Hades had one in the actual mythology.
I just developed a huge crush for Gemma, damn.
the red blades on chains are the blades of chaos and magically stay wrapped on his arms so they dan come off
"Whip me daddy"
NOT WITH *THOSE* WHIPS, GEMMA! SAFE, SANE AND CONSENSUAL!
*points at Claws of Hades* Use those ones. Much safer.
Kidding aside, didn't expect a video on GoW featuring this fun duo, considering how the usage of fantastic weapons is more prominent in moment-to-moment gameplay compared to deeper hand-to-hand fighting such as the likes of God Hand or Kya: Dark Lineage for example. But I suppose the cinematics do show some good stuff, and it's nice to see them enjoy what's on offer.
he has the chains connected to his arms from like the first god of war game from hades
Well it would have been even more awesome if both of them were back in one room reacting together.. but still awesome to see em back reacting here
I love how you two have never played any GOW games so you appreciate it that much more. And those aren’t whip blades. them there are CHAOS BLADES. A staple of GOW. and I recommend you watch the first fight in the previous one where he gets punched through his house.
Considering Kratos has lived most of his life as a spartan general, and then the remaining as a God of War, He should be more than skilled enough to wield the blades of chaos even though it is highly impractical.
Shout out to Eric Jacobus who does mocap for kratos who also has a RUclips channel
I'm a die hard marvel fan....like through the good and through the bad....and I gotta say....THIS THOR IS THE MOST SUPREME THOR!!!!!!
Yo, if y'all can edit out the bugs, I think Gemma and Noah and Yoshi would LOVE Gotham knights gameplay!!! Let me watch Noah fangirl over Nightwing
This is going to be great!
Actually blades of chaos moveset are practically impossible in real life until you have retractable chains like the game
there is actually aslot of game lore to explain how his weapons work if ur every curious
Man, I really need them to react to Godfrey/Hoarah Loux from Elden Ring
I always figured the Blades of Chaos were something like a kusarigama.
They should make a video with title "Real God's react to God of War Ragnarok"
Two things I would've liked for them to include was
1. Kratos slo mo haymaker punch Thor
2. The fight between Kratos and Heimdal.
You two should do an analysis of Jet Li and Jackie's movies like Wheels on Meals, Once Upon A Time in China 2 or Drunken Master 2. Those are considered some of the best Hong Kong martial arts flicks in the 90s. Or maybe modern Donnie movies like Flashpoint and SPL aka Killzone.
PLEASE, make them react to Ninja Assassin movie! The choreography in that one is amazing.
Fun fact, The guy who is named yoshi, played the blue power ranger in power ranger Dino charge
Dang, was hoping for the Heimdall fight
Bro, wtf was that "whip me daddy"💀
Yeah see in the past those were seared onto his arms so he could never remove them and when they were they were removed by force by ares in god of war 1
I mean when Thor says he seen and felt this before if you haven’t played the god of war game play the story until you save freya brother and save the camp wait till you get freya brother boat and follow the pig to find a hidden area in the game that the game doesn’t tell you can go too without doing that mission with the pig
They are called the blades of chaos
2:58 ladies and gentlemen, this channel literally just bleeped and blurred out the word “dumbass”. Incredible
Loved the gameplay that you chose for this vid, admittedly you guys at gameology choose some bad gameplay sometimes but this time it shows off pretty much all of the core combat done really well. Just wanted to let you know that we appreciate that
Surprised you didn't show off the draupnir, but I guess it would be spoilery
Can you do a Street Fighter or Martial Arts react to The Warriors? I love that game
These two should do a reaction video to Kamen Rider; Memory of Heroez next.
Die Schwerter von cratos sind mit ketten an seinen Armen befestigt. Also wenn er die Schwerter wirft sogesehen bleiben die fest da sie an seinen Armen fest sind.
The blades are called the blades of chaos
the blades of chaos are forever chained to kratos and will never leave him, he has tried to get rid of them even by throwing them in the seas only to survive a storm wake up later and the blades ended right beside him
THE BLUE POWER RANGER AAAAAAA XD
The blades of chaos are burned on to his arms
They should’ve shown the fight with Heimdal
Shame they didn't include any fight vs Heimdall (Him dodging attacks actually looked kinda cool)
They need to show them the spear and Heimdall full fight
How do they not know they are blades of chaos?
Would you know the name of some weapon from a game franchise you never played?
This game was the best I've ever played man the combat the story and levels are perfect if u didn't play this yet its a must play I promise u you will love this game
Masterpiece
I wish there were more broken pieces going everywhere when you use the pillars and trees.
Thor from MCU is made more for children, perfect body, good hero, funny and frendly. The Thor from GOW is very strong, intimidaiting, he really looks like a worrior, someone that lived hundreds qnd thousend of years fighting, seeing death, an horrors of battle. He plays with Kratos at the begining like a toy. He know to fight like he breaths. This is how Thor should be depicted. Let's not forget that he was worshiped by the vikings, strong worriors.
They should watch combat gods II next
finally they found someone that knows how to play the game they show holy shit
And the gameplay still sucks
@@Dctctx true
They would have loved to see the end of heimdall
its sad that they didnt get to see the spear
10:00 that’s kratos he knows how to use it lol
