That's the only part where I cried, i put so much love and time maxing out my steed MoonKnignt(the doc horse with the crescent moon) that I was truly devastated
Back then, with that type of life, your horse was blood bonded. Everyone came and went but your horse was the one good constant in your life, and that went for outlaws, gunslingers, drifters, rangers, etc. Losing your horse was like losing half your soul.
More often than not, I always try to get to that part with Buell. The horse that Hamish Sinclair gave us. That way, not only is Arthur thanking Buell, he’s also thanking Hamish.

The fact that Arthur refused to abandon his horse when dying says everything about Arthur. He would not abandon his best friend, no matter what. That made me cry soooo bad
@@Christ42yeah I know! That’s why it’s so beautiful because despite it just being a video game it has the same emotional impact as a movie. It makes you feel things, it hits you right in the heart strings, because you learn to love these characters. After all games are just another form of storytelling, at least games like these with a plotline and stuff not like fall guys or among us, though those games are still cool.
Little fact: at the part where Dutch walked away after the fight with Micah, his actor watched the rest of the scene get acted out just off shot and he was crying his eyes out. Technically, you could say even Dutch cried at Arthur's death.
damn that one i didn't knew..i knew about the one where arthur give his hat to john that rob was about to cry at that scene and the producers told him to try to keep up because john marston doesn't cry..and the whole cast was there clapping at the end..beautiful
On a lighter note.. the part with Mary visiting Arthur's Grave, Roger Clark had to stand in for Mary's actor lol I found that funny because he was like "The part where Mary is visiting Arthur's grave, well.. I was Mary" then laughed
obviously they didnt plan this but in the first game you can spare javier and just turn him in instead of kill him kind of a mutual respect thing i think.
My favorite part about this is the outfit and look of Arthur changing between each person, it shows who everyone wants Arthur to be and truly shows how this isn’t just a character, this is YOUR character.
When he is diagnosed with tuberculosis, you become much more attached to Arthur and begin to bathe him more frequently, feed him, dress him well, but at the same time you can't bear to see him pale, thin as a corpse. in the end you just want the story to end in a good way, this is so memorable and sad.
See, that is the scene that KILLED me. I KNEW Arthur was going to die- he wasn't in the first game. So I figured he'd go out in a crazy reckless, gunslinger death. Then, out of NOWHERE, you collapse and are on death's doorstep. There is NOTHING you can do- it's a terminal diagnosis. You just have to watch him die for the rest of the game with no hope. I was WRECKED when he collapsed from TB. I was not expecting the slow burn and feeling of helplessness :(
I don't mean to mention Cyberpunk like how a vegan would mention they're a vegan, but in Cyberpunk they gave the protagonist basically the same death sentence, but never really felt that you were in danger, nor did it change the protagonist in any meaningful way. With Arthur I never connected to a character as much as him. When he has been diagnosed I feel as though it is my life and I should be doing good like Arthur. I smoked a lot before too, and I took special care so he wouldn't even choke on dry food (yeah with dry foods he tends to cough like bread and biscuits), when most other players had him thin I made him overweight so he could at least keep his face not looking like a painted skull. Especially with the nun, you don't need to be religious to understand that death makes you learn things. Not many people get to take their lives in their own hands.
I refuse to do anything but high honor specifically for that final shot. Arthur looking into the sunrise, almost as a showing of the redemption of his soul
Every game after RDR2 just wasn’t interesting and fun for me because it set the bar so high, it’s gonna be a real long time before I find a game on level with this

33 year old man, father and husband... the horse scene made me slam my controller and I cried my eyes out. I had to pause the game and walk off for a few minutes. This is why this game has my favorite story ever.
Not even kidding, I just finished the game and cried a little because I knew he was going to die. I tried to play as john and it just didn't feel right. Currently in my feels when I scroll down to the comments, see this and I just start bawling my eyes out. Arthur Morgan is such a good character.
I’m 38 father husband I screamed when I realized my horse was really dead and cried till Arthur died high honor, and I help John escape and as Dutch walked away I cried, like I hadn’t cried in years. This game was truly something magical.
Oh yes that had me crying too, this was the first time i cried from a game, even movies don't get me to that point that easy but this story is just a masterpiece and you really feel it. In my opinion the best story in a game i've ever played, there was really no game wich got me so hard.
The editing you did is astounding. Just each stream flowing into eachother so flawlessly. And yeah, this game is just ahhhhh. Somehow my comfort game. I love it so much
I’ve replayed this game probably 7-8 times. Everytime, before the last couple missions, i always get Arthur a deluxe bath, a new suit, a shave and a slick haircut, because my boy deserves it. Also so I can clearly see the incredible motion capture acting from Roger Clark. Greatest protaganist in gaming history.
I’m on my second play through because I wanna explore as John and I’m having such a hard time with it. The part Arthur starts coughing in San Denis and collapses. I lost it. I couldn’t stop crying. Loaded an older save when things were good. I don’t think I can do it again.
The way Arthur said "Thankyou" to the horse was so touching for me because i only use 1 horse until it end (the American Standardbred bought at stable for the first time).
I had the morgan you buy at the start, it died in a gang ambush, after that i stole a ratty lookin tennessee walker and used that until i caught myself a mustang and rode it to the end

I still used the Standarbred from the first stable, then tried Arabian (it's fast, but easy to fall), then i found Buell and used it until that scene. Damn, it still got me, even more with Buell.

13:34 For the guys who complain about how the game ends after helping john if you have low honor or if you choose to return for the money, I can only tell you that you made your own decisions and at the end, the game taught you a lesson.
I used to like having massive shootouts in town, and get into fights with people who insulted my coyote scout jacket. In the actual story I did all the good choices, but hey I feel like Arthur getting shot is more realistic, no way would Micah have just left him there after all that. But still nothing can beat that sunrise.
Watched the VOD XqCoW was mad because his degenerate chat was still bickering about that he got the low honor ending and that he has no Morals and deserves to die So XQC got mad and in the clip at 13:32 he malds and tell chat that this is why he doesn't play story games
The worst part of this game is you can never play it for the 1st time again. You also know Arthur is gonna die as soon as you find out he’s sick but how he died was a surprise.
Yeah, that was a decision on his actor's part. He didn't feel like Javier was 100% onboard with what was happening based on his character so far, so he just didn't raise the gun.

What makes it sad is all the history Arthur and Dutch have, Dutch raised Arthur and for Dutch to just betray him like that for a guy he hasn't known more than 6 months.
I love john and arthur (especially arthur) but they betrayed dutch first. In a gang you can't disobey orders from the leader and do your own thing even if its morally not right. A combination of john having a kid (jack) and arthur getting TB made them both realize that being an outlaw is bad. If arthur never got TB i honestly believe he would have fought with dutch till the end and not help other people like the indians or john escape. There are many chapter 1 and 2 missions before TB where arthur is criticizing and angry at john for leaving the gang. This proves arthurs extreme loyalty to the gang and is why dutch loves him so much. Later in the story when arthur starts helping John escape (chapter 4,5,6) dutch turns to micah who was the only one (along with bill and javier) he could completely trust in the camp. To complete his 'plan' he needed more people on his side and thats why micah brought in his 2 rat friends (cleet and forgot the other guys name). Yes arthur and john were doing the right thing but dutch has every right to feel betrayed especially by john and thats why he gives him that look at 17:53. I believe he only shot micah because of his love for arthur not because he wanted to save john or sadie. Dutch has suspicions of johns mindset from as early as chapter 2 and dutch probably feels like john got into arthurs head and persuaded him to help him instead of the gang.

Arthur and other members couldn't help but notice that the Law is gonna catch up and they will die and they didn't all want to die for a madman. Imo the ONLY reason Bill and Javier stayed is because they literally know nothing else but fighting for Dutch but right after the main campaign they ditched and took their chances in Mexico One of the western themes of the game IMO is the dangerous game of cat and mouse but in this game the cat will always win. Redemption is a long road that goes less traveled, but once you start the path it never ends until the final standoff

They most likely just did wgat i found fun. Massive shootouts in town. Just kill someonr and see how long you survive. Big problem is it gets you all the way down to bottom honor very fast.
What we didn't see was anyone who got high Honor but went back for the money. Going back for the money does put a big hit on the Honor, but if it was high enough at the point of deciding it still plays out much like "high Honor, help John"...He fights Micah, Dutch appears, Micah & Dutch leave (separately), Arthur still gets to see one last sunset before he dies (& his totem animal is still the buck). Yes, it's possible for *both* choices to end with high Honor or low Honor, which makes *four* different endings.
Man i cried like crazy when I reached Arthur's end. This game is so far above and beyond what any other game has managed to make me feel, it is amazing. What a damn masterpiece in storytelling.
I’m not ashamed to say this game is the only game that had made me cry. When my horse died, I lost all hope that Arthur was gonna live. Seeing my horse cry in pain in his last dying breaths just broke me. Seeing Arthur die under a great sunrise broke me. This game has an amazing story

I'm 53 yrs old, been gaming since 1990 or so. This was the best game I ever played, and it's great to see that it touched these gamers like it touched me. I took my time with RDR2 and played it over about 6 months; a most enjoyable half year of my gaming life! Great video, thanks for creating!
I'm 55 started with gaming in the 90s too and yes ... this game is by far the best I ever played. First time cried my eyes out over a game. Heartbraking stories everywhere - told just through letters or remains in cabins. A world that feels real and alive. So many things to explore and to do. After 4 years I started another round a few weeks ago and already I found so many things I missed when I played the first time. This is not just a game - it's more like a mix between game, movie, novel and history lesson. I hope I am going to live long enough to see another game that is able to impress me so deeply.

Arthur realised too late he needed to change and didn't have time for a full second chance, that's why he saves John, Abigail and Jack, to give them his second chance. John avenged Arthur by killing micha and then led a calm life (from what I know) until rdr. After his death jack takes over. Sorry for explaining the plot that u probably know. But the reason we love Arthur is because he isn't all bad. He tried to make amends but dies too early. Even before his diagnosis he tries to help out everywhere he can, only robbing and murdering when necessary.

Javier not pointing his gun at John and Arthur during the stand-off is a really good catch. Apparently his actor, Gabriel Sloyer, fought the directors to add that detail to the scene because he felt Javier wouldn't actually want to kill his 'brothers' even at the end.
Actually I noticed something also when Bill was on the other side I also noticed that his gun was away from Arthur as well so he was also shaking a bit.

I can’t lie the night I beat this game I cried for hours… I never connected with characters as much, but Arthur had such great character development. The buildup was just wow, this definitely deserved game of the year.

If there was a person I hated more in this game, that was that soab Micah, then Dutch. At the beginning I didn't like Arthur but later I started getting a bond with his character. Only in few games I had this emotional feeling.
Definitely, I played the game for the first time back in beginning of 2022 and I liked Dutch. But as story goes on I started to hate Dutch. Micah was hated the moment I saw him lol felt something bad
I liked Dutch even at the end of the game. But what I never understood is why it took him so long to realize he was wrong. I mean, by the time there was only a handful of his old "family" left, he should have known. Pretty stupid for an otherwise smart guy.

Me too!! That one broke the Levee for sure! And I'm typically not a crier, but that hit hard after all the days and nights I spent getting to know Arthur and the rest of the gang. What an amazing experience this game was.
So many moments in this game that give you an emotional punch in the guts. The deaths of Sean, Lenny, Hosea and Keiren. The Tuberculosis diagnosis. The characters in this game are just incredible. Kudos to the writers who gave us so many friends in the game. I've played good games twice before, but it's probably up to 7 playthroughs of RDR2 now.
One scene that almost equals in the "God damn this is a hard one..." department, is if you have high honor and helped the Priest and the Sister out during Chapter 4, later in the game after a mission with Charles and some army dude (I forgot the exact mission and details) gets on a train, you'll have a talk to the Sister of the church, and Arthur legitimately admits he's dying of TB and he's afraid, he goes from a goofy, blow it off demeanor to a completely broken man by the end of the scene. You see his guard fall for the first time for real in the game, and they executed the timing great.
@@Wildlink123 That's actually the very first time you see Arthur vulnerable, as well as admitting it. I took notice of that scene myself, he even actually said he's scared. I don't think he was scared of dying, he's just scared of how he'll be remembered, and what will happen to those he loves he'll have to leave behind. John, little Jack, Sadie That's why he told John to run, and asked Sadie to make sure they all run. He's lost respect for Dutch, Dutch is just a loose cannon at this point
I went for the money because I was low honor my entire playthrough and then in chapter 6 got up to high honor and when faced with that decision, I remember audibly saying "nah, outlaw for life". Also I played the original so I knew John survived whether I went with him or not. I didn't mind the ending but high honor, help John is definitely the better ending. The knife fight with Micah is cooler than the fist fight though
This made me cry because we did so much with Arthur. Arthur had such a legacy, we bonded with him, the more we played the more attached to him as a character we were. It felt as if Arthur was more than a person, just a soul looking for redemption. Having him die watching the sunset means he didn’t want to spend his last seconds with his eyes closed accepting his fate, and he made the best if those last seconds, using all the strength his body had left to watch the sunrise. RIP Arthur.
I love this comment, here's some interesting lore for you: Early in the game, Arthur was asked how he wanted to be buried. He said to face him west so he could watch the sunset. If you get this ending, he dies facing East watching a sunrise, indicating he had achieved true redemption from his old ideas.
Losing Arthur felt more personal than any other game. We fed him, clothed him, did his chores, and even fucking BATHED him. lol We WERE him... I believe this game straight up helped raise an entire generation of gamers. Most of us were not the same by the end of this game.
I love XQC's logic that Arthur didn't have any family or friends to make helping John worth it, so his best logical conclusion is to spend an absurd amount of money that he won't even live long enough to even hold or make a life worth living, seemingly forgetting the game made it ultra clear that Arthur was going to die soon no matter what happened. Not only that, but he gets ENRAGED that he died after choosing the most logically stupid option at that moment. His mind genuinely is an enigma.
Indeed XQC was absolutely funny to think as if Arthur would still live longer if he goes after the money (knowing that, back then, TB was incurable and antibiotics doesn't exist yet.)

That being said, it would take an (in my opinion) unreasonable amount of detachment from the text to just shrug and really think nothing of a choice like that. The only way I would concede that someone doing that ending would be believable within the context of the story, is if the player believes Arthur to actually be that kind of man. And that’d be valid! That’s why the option is there. The valid criticism I empathize with, at the root of that unnecessary hostility, is that of XQC (and some other low honor players’) unthinking detachment from the game. When the literal entirety of the game has been about Arthur finding himself able to be redeemed *despite* his past actions, denying him that redemption is kinda going against the name of the game, no? Also, if I may, I find it a little ironic that we’re talking about how people shouldn’t tell others to “Roblox” themselves, when you have *that* as your profile picture.

I’m glad that most people have the compassion to save John instead of going back for the money. I’m on my second playthrough and I’ve decided I’ll act more like an outlaw in Arthur’s section, but I’m going straight in the epilogue 100%
The last ride made me cry like a baby because I had Arthur’s death spoiled for me so I prepared for that the entire run but I wasn’t expecting his last ride to hit so hard and it threw me off

Even though i finished RDR2 a while ago, watching this brought all the feels back. The story and dialogue in the game was the best ive played, for me it was all about the real detail spots. Some might disagree but i think the game is a work of art. It was worth waiting for, and worth every minute i put into playing it.
This video game had better dialogue writing than a considerable amount of movies. This was like playing a movie, to every little detail. Whoever directed this games cinematography and writing deserves an award.

@@despacitodaniel801 Maybe, maybe not, but the fact is it’s a great scene, and some movies miss the attachment you have when playing the game like it’s your own movie.
This part honestly wasn’t as heartbreaking as the part where Arthur meets the Sister one last time before she heads to Mexico. When Arthur looked dead at her and said “I’m afraid” with a shaky voice and bloodshot eyes like if he was holding back from crying really had me bawling.
That part made me realize that I was not ready for the rollercoaster of emotions coming my way in the ending of the game. I had to take a break for a few hours before finish it, still crying like a baby when that song hit after the rescue of Abigail.
Watching this is bringing back how much this game upset me at the time, i was going through a break up and playing this just after i broke up with my ex, this was released and it was my own way of getting over my ex, this game hurt me more than she did the way arthur was treated. Cant believe how much this story still gets to me.
The fact Dutch and Arthur had been together for almost 20 years or so. Having Arthur as his sort of second hand man to then just be betrayed like that really hits hard 😔

But i just thought that maybe you can save the money for John and help him get a new life, put it somewhere where he can find it. but that was foolish in retroperspective. So i went back to the last save and played the other Ending because i wasn't happy with that, well no ending was really happy but i didn't want to die that way so i went back and chose the other option. But the moment when arthur's shouting all the names and the music plays and you shoot your way back to the Camp, was just Badass and i'm glad i had both (good) endings.
In one of the cutscenes Arthur says: face my grave to the sunset so i can watch it and remember all the good times with my friends.... he died watching the sun set
bro i gotta give you props, you do amazing transitions between gameplay with other people’s reactions. most reaction channels will show one persons full reaction and then the next one repeating the same scene, but you show ALL OF THEM through these super smooth transitions. really making me feel the feels with these guys. nice job man.

The whole Journey of arthur was truly artwork From beginning to end we really get more attached to this fictional character So much so that the idea of him slowly dying was unacceptable And then theres markiplier who constantly gives arthur and Schwoomple multiple concussions

The relationship arc between john and Arthur is beautiful. At the beginning of the game Arthurs blasts John for leaving the gang and by the end of the story all Arthur wants is for John to get away 😭😭😭
This is my FAVORITE, FAVORITE game of all time!! Just like the gamers in the video, I cried so hard when he passed away at the mountain when I played, and I cried just as much watching this video. Maybe its a game, but the connection you get to Arthur doing the gameplay, is insane, which makes his death even more sad. I really felt like I lost a dear friend. Rockstar did such an indescribable good job with RDR2. In my opinion, no game will ever compare with this one. Truly blessing! How I wished he would't have died.. Imagine the story we would've gotten, when it was all over, if he survived

It’s weird to describe my reaction to Arthur’s death. I wasn’t sad, deep down maybe i was. But the only feelings i felt was hate, and dissatisfaction with not being able to kill Micah. So for the entire prologue of the game, that anger never went away. Even after killing Micah, it felt too easy to let him die so quickly. I was filled with anger and rage and it wasn’t until i sat down as John and red all of Arthur’s journals that i finally broke down into tears. I finally got to grief for a fictional characters death. I finally was able to feel at ease over his death. I guess, at the end, my blind rage and hatred still ended up costing John’s family and potential future they may have had. Making feel even worse knowing I was more then happy to go after Micah knowing the outcome of the first game.
I was so mad Arthur dont kill Micah. I like the epilogue but I would prefer killing Micah as Arthur, even if Dutch had killed him would be better for me but I understand that they had to save him for the epilogue, I got the shotgun to shoot him in the face but sadly the cut scenes didn't let me

My favorite part about this is the outfit and look of Arthur changing between each person, it shows who everyone wants Arthur to be and truly shows how this isn’t just a character, this is YOUR character.

When he is diagnosed with tuberculosis, you become much more attached to Arthur and begin to bathe him more frequently, feed him, dress him well, but at the same time you can't bear to see him pale, thin as a corpse. in the end you just want the story to end in a good way, this is so memorable and sad.
See, that is the scene that KILLED me. I KNEW Arthur was going to die- he wasn't in the first game. So I figured he'd go out in a crazy reckless, gunslinger death. Then, out of NOWHERE, you collapse and are on death's doorstep. There is NOTHING you can do- it's a terminal diagnosis. You just have to watch him die for the rest of the game with no hope. I was WRECKED when he collapsed from TB. I was not expecting the slow burn and feeling of helplessness :(

I DID EXACTLY THE SAME THING! I was feeling so bad for Arthur and because I liked him from the beginning! Seeing him go pale and weak crushed me...
I don't mean to mention Cyberpunk like how a vegan would mention they're a vegan, but in Cyberpunk they gave the protagonist basically the same death sentence, but never really felt that you were in danger, nor did it change the protagonist in any meaningful way.
With Arthur I never connected to a character as much as him. When he has been diagnosed I feel as though it is my life and I should be doing good like Arthur. I smoked a lot before too, and I took special care so he wouldn't even choke on dry food (yeah with dry foods he tends to cough like bread and biscuits), when most other players had him thin I made him overweight so he could at least keep his face not looking like a painted skull.
Especially with the nun, you don't need to be religious to understand that death makes you learn things. Not many people get to take their lives in their own hands.

33 year old man, father and husband... the horse scene made me slam my controller and I cried my eyes out. I had to pause the game and walk off for a few minutes. This is why this game has my favorite story ever.

Not even kidding, I just finished the game and cried a little because I knew he was going to die. I tried to play as john and it just didn't feel right. Currently in my feels when I scroll down to the comments, see this and I just start bawling my eyes out. Arthur Morgan is such a good character.
I’m 38 father husband I screamed when I realized my horse was really dead and cried till Arthur died high honor, and I help John escape and as Dutch walked away I cried, like I hadn’t cried in years. This game was truly something magical.

I’ve replayed this game probably 7-8 times. Everytime, before the last couple missions, i always get Arthur a deluxe bath, a new suit, a shave and a slick haircut, because my boy deserves it. Also so I can clearly see the incredible motion capture acting from Roger Clark.

I still used the Standarbred from the first stable, then tried Arabian (it's fast, but easy to fall), then i found Buell and used it until that scene. Damn, it still got me, even more with Buell.

I used to like having massive shootouts in town, and get into fights with people who insulted my coyote scout jacket. In the actual story I did all the good choices, but hey I feel like Arthur getting shot is more realistic, no way would Micah have just left him there after all that. I love john and arthur (especially arthur) but they betrayed dutch first. In a gang you can't disobey orders from the leader and do your own thing even if its morally not right.
A combination of john having a kid (jack) and arthur getting TB made them both realize that being an outlaw is bad. If arthur never got TB i honestly believe he would have fought with dutch till the end and not help other people like the indians or john escape.
There are many chapter 1 and 2 missions before TB where arthur is criticizing and angry at john for leaving the gang. This proves arthurs extreme loyalty to the gang and is why dutch loves him so much.
Later in the story when arthur starts helping John escape (chapter 4,5,6) dutch turns to micah who was the only one (along with bill and javier) he could completely trust in the camp. To complete his 'plan' he needed more people on his side and thats why micah brought in his 2 rat friends (cleet and forgot the other guys name).
Yes arthur and john were doing the right thing but dutch has every right to feel betrayed especially by john and thats why he gives him that look at 17:53. I believe he only shot micah because of his love for arthur not because he wanted to save john or sadie.
Dutch has suspicions of johns mindset from as early as chapter 2 and dutch probably feels like john got into arthurs head and persuaded him to help him instead of the gang.

Arthur and other members couldn't help but notice that the Law is gonna catch up and they will die and they didn't all want to die for a madman. Imo the ONLY reason Bill and Javier stayed is because they literally know nothing else but fighting for Dutch but right after the main campaign they ditched and took their chances in Mexico
One of the western themes of the game IMO is the dangerous game of cat and mouse but in this game the cat will always win. Redemption is a long road that goes less traveled, but once you start the path it never ends until the final standoff

What we didn't see was anyone who got high Honor but went back for the money. Going back for the money does put a big hit on the Honor, but if it was high enough at the point of deciding it still plays out much like "high Honor, help John"...He fights Micah, Dutch appears, Micah & Dutch leave (separately), Arthur still gets to see one last sunset before he dies (& his totem animal is still the buck).
Yes, it's possible for *both* choices to end with high Honor or low Honor, which makes *four* different endings.

Man i cried like crazy when I reached Arthur's end. This game is so far above and beyond what any other game has managed to make me feel, it is amazing. What a damn masterpiece in storytelling.

2018 was a good year
I'm 53 yrs old, been gaming since 1990 or so. This was the best game I ever played, and it's great to see that it touched these gamers like it touched me. I took my time with RDR2 and played it over about 6 months; a most enjoyable half year of my gaming life! Great video, thanks for creating!

I'm 55 started with gaming in the 90s too and yes ... this game is by far the best I ever played. First time cried my eyes out over a game. Heartbraking stories everywhere - told just through letters or remains in cabins. A world that feels real and alive. So many things to explore and to do. After 4 years I started another round a few weeks ago and already I found so many things I missed when I played the first time. This is not just a game - it's more like a mix between game, movie, novel and history lesson. I hope I am going to live long enough to see another game that is able to impress me so deeply.

The high honour ending is sooo good. I always get so emotional as I've spent time reforming Arthur and then u have to see him die. A good man doesnt deserve to die because of micha

Arthur realised too late he needed to change and didn't have time for a full second chance, that's why he saves John, Abigail and Jack, to give them his second chance. John avenged Arthur by killing micha and then led a calm life (from what I know) until rdr. After his death jack takes over. Sorry for explaining the plot that u probably know. But the reason we love Arthur is because he isn't all bad. He tried to make amends but dies too early. Even before his diagnosis he tries to help out everywhere he can, only robbing and murdering when necessary.

Javier not pointing his gun at John and Arthur during the stand-off is a really good catch. Apparently his actor, Gabriel Sloyer, fought the directors to add that detail to the scene because he felt Javier wouldn't actually want to kill his 'brothers' even at the end.
Actually I noticed something also when Bill was on the other side I also noticed that his gun was away from Arthur as well so he was also shaking a bit.

Yeah, XQC’s personality is very straightforward. He did nothing but rob, kill, and do main missions, picking each and every least honorable option.
Fair to say I've been a gamer since PS1 i played everything and more but only this game with the horse scene at the end with and the sunrise at Arthur dying got all my tears out of me 💔
I can’t lie the night I beat this game I cried for hours… I never connected with characters as much, but Arthur had such great character development. The buildup was just wow, this definitely deserved game of the year.

If there was a person I hated more in this game, that was that soab Micah, then Dutch. At the beginning I didn't like Arthur but later I started getting a bond with his character. Only in few games I had this emotional feeling.
Definitely, I played the game for the first time back in beginning of 2022 and I liked Dutch. But as story goes on I started to hate Dutch. Micah was hated the moment I saw him lol felt something bad

Me too!! That one broke the Levee for sure! And I'm typically not a crier, but that hit hard after all the days and nights I spent getting to know Arthur and the rest of the gang. What an amazing experience this game was.
music still gives me chills to this day. This game forever holds a special place in my heart
So many moments in this game that give you an emotional punch in the guts. The deaths of Sean, Lenny, Hosea and Keiren. The Tuberculosis diagnosis. The characters in this game are just incredible. Kudos to the writers who gave us so many friends in the game.
I've played good games twice before, but it's probably up to 7 playthroughs of RDR2 now.
One scene that almost equals in the "God damn this is a hard one..." department, is if you have high honor and helped the Priest and the Sister out during Chapter 4, later in the game after a mission with Charles and some army dude (I forgot the exact mission and details) gets on a train, you'll have a talk to the Sister of the church, and Arthur legitimately admits he's dying of TB and he's afraid, he goes from a goofy, blow it off demeanor to a completely broken man by the end of the scene. You see his guard fall for the first time for real in the game, and they executed the timing great.
I'm on my 4th Arthur won't even get sick this time around

I took notice of that scene myself, he even actually said he's scared.
I don't think he was scared of dying, he's just scared of how he'll be remembered, and what will happen to those he loves he'll have to leave behind.

I have completed the game once. Now i'm aiming for my version of a perfect play through. Restarted about 5 times now.
99.9999999% chose to follow their heart and help John.
00.0000001% chose the money and only did it to see what happens.
I went for the money because I was low honor my entire playthrough and then in chapter 6 got up to high honor and when faced with that decision, I remember audibly saying "nah, outlaw for life". Also I played the original so I knew John survived whether I went with him or not. I didn't mind the ending but high honor, help John is definitely the better ending. The knife fight with Micah is cooler than the fist fight though

This made me cry because we did so much with Arthur. Arthur had such a legacy, we bonded with him, the more we played the more attached to him as a character we were. It felt as if Arthur was more than a person, just a soul looking for redemption. Having him die watching the sunset means he didn’t want to spend his last seconds with his eyes closed accepting his fate, and he made the best if those last seconds, using all the strength his body had left to watch the sunrise. RIP Arthur.

I love this comment, here's some interesting lore for you: Early in the game, Arthur was asked how he wanted to be buried. He said to face him west so he could watch the sunset. If you get this ending, he dies facing East watching a sunrise, indicating he had achieved true redemption from his old ideas.
Losing Arthur felt more personal than any other game. We fed him, clothed him, did his chores, and even fucking BATHED him. lol We WERE him... I believe this game straight up helped raise an entire generation of gamers. Most of us were not the same by the end of this game.

I love XQC's logic that Arthur didn't have any family or friends to make helping John worth it, so his best logical conclusion is to spend an absurd amount of money that he won't even live long enough to even hold or make a life worth living, seemingly forgetting the game made it ultra clear that Arthur was going to die soon no matter what happened. Not only that, but he gets ENRAGED that he died after choosing the most logically stupid option at that moment. His mind genuinely is an enigma.
Indeed XQC was absolutely funny to think as if Arthur would still live longer if he goes after the money (knowing that, back then, TB was incurable and antibiotics doesn't exist yet.)

That being said, it would take an (in my opinion) unreasonable amount of detachment from the text to just shrug and really think nothing of a choice like that. The only way I would concede that someone doing that ending would be believable within the context of the story, is if the player believes Arthur to actually be that kind of man. And that’d be valid! That’s why the option is there.
The valid criticism I empathize with, at the root of that unnecessary hostility, is that of XQC (and some other low honor players’) unthinking detachment from the game. When the literal entirety of the game has been about Arthur finding himself able to be redeemed *despite* his past actions, denying him that redemption is kinda going against the name of the game, no?
Also, if I may, I find it a little ironic that we’re talking about how people shouldn’t tell others to “Roblox” themselves, when you have *that* as your profile picture.

I’m glad that most people have the compassion to save John instead of going back for the money. I’m on my second playthrough and I’ve decided I’ll act more like an outlaw in Arthur’s section, but I’m going straight in the epilogue 100%
The last ride made me cry like a baby because I had Arthur’s death spoiled for me so I prepared for that the entire run but I wasn’t expecting his last ride to hit so hard and it threw me off

Even though i finished RDR2 a while ago, watching this brought all the feels back. The story and dialogue in the game was the best ive played, for me it was all about the real detail spots. Some might disagree but i think the game is a work of art. It was worth waiting for, and worth every minute i put into playing it.

This part honestly wasn’t as heartbreaking as the part where Arthur meets the Sister one last time before she heads to Mexico. When Arthur looked dead at her and said “I’m afraid” with a shaky voice and bloodshot eyes like if he was holding back from crying really had me bawling.

That part made me realize that I was not ready for the rollercoaster of emotions coming my way in the ending of the game. I had to take a break for a few hours before finish it, still crying like a baby when that song hit after the rescue of Abigail.
Watching this is bringing back how much this game upset me at the time, i was going through a break up and playing this just after i broke up with my ex, this was released and it was my own way of getting over my ex, this game hurt me more than she did the way arthur was treated. Cant believe how much this story still gets to me.
The fact Dutch and Arthur had been together for almost 20 years or so. Having Arthur as his sort of second hand man to then just be betrayed like that really hits hard 😔

But i just thought that maybe you can save the money for John and help him get a new life, put it somewhere where he can find it. but that was foolish in retroperspective. So i went back to the last save and played the other Ending because i wasn't happy with that, well no ending was really happy but i didn't want to die that way so i went back and chose the other option. But the moment when arthur's shouting all the names and the music plays and you shoot your way back to the Camp, was just Badass and i'm glad i had both (good) endings.

bro i gotta give you props, you do amazing transitions between gameplay with other people’s reactions. most reaction channels will show one persons full reaction and then the next one repeating the same scene, but you show ALL OF THEM through these super smooth transitions. really making me feel the feels with these guys. nice job man.

This is my FAVORITE, FAVORITE game of all time!! Just like the gamers in the video, I cried so hard when he passed away at the mountain when I played, and I cried just as much watching this video. Maybe its a game, but the connection you get to Arthur doing the gameplay, is insane, which makes his death even more sad. I really felt like I lost a dear friend. Rockstar did such an indescribable good job with RDR2. In my opinion, no game will ever compare with this one. Truly blessing! How I wished he would't have died.. Imagine the story we would've gotten, when it was all over, if he survived

It’s weird to describe my reaction to Arthur’s death. I wasn’t sad, deep down maybe i was. But the only feelings i felt was hate, and dissatisfaction with not being able to kill Micah. So for the entire prologue of the game, that anger never went away. Even after killing Micah, it felt too easy to let him die so quickly. I was filled with anger and rage and it wasn’t until i sat down as John and red all of Arthur’s journals that i finally broke down into tears. I finally got to grief for a fictional characters death. I finally was able to feel at ease over his death. I guess, at the end, my blind rage and hatred still ended up costing John’s family and potential future they may have had. Making feel even worse knowing I was more then happy to go after Micah knowing the outcome of the first game.

I was so mad Arthur dont kill Micah. I like the epilogue but I would prefer killing Micah as Arthur, even if Dutch had killed him would be better for me but I understand that they had to save him for the epilogue, I got the shotgun to shoot him in the face but sadly the cut scenes didn't let me
