I love, as many of you know, shopping at thrift stores, Goodwills and especially Facebook Marketplace. Today I'm sharing a small haul of things I purchased from these places, in hopes that I inspire you to go in and check these places out yourself and find your own treasures.
Enjoy.
ABOUT ME:
Hello, my name is Renee, owner and founder of RB The Garden Nanny and I love what I do as a landscape designer and master gardener. It’s not considered work to me. I look at it as a way of beautifying one landscape at a time. It’s pure enjoyment. There are not many women in this field who not only own their own landscape business but also have a hand in all that is involved. I bring a women’s touch to landscaping.
Welcome to my channel. I look forward to inspiring you in some way through my videos. Please comment, subscribe, like and share. It helps a great deal for us content creators. I appreciate it!

Every time I say I’m going to the good will my Mom says you don’t need anyone’s junk. They only have junk there.🤦🏽♀️ I try to change her mind about goodwill and thrift stores. She will hear none of it. So I will have to go alone. Great finds.👍🏽👍🏽😁

Go alone girl. Go alone. People are always so surprised at where I find my stuff that they complement me on. Thanks for watching.

Thanks Angela. I think we can all say we love a good bargain!!! Thanks for watching.
Great video, Renee! I love thrifting - the thrill of hunting for 'treasures' never grows old. You got some awesome deals here and such useful stuff, too. 👏👏👏
Tulle has worked fantastic for me, protecting my plants not just from bugs, but also from birds, and it doesn't trap birds in it like bird netting can.
Really though, I like everything you found, and I'm especially jealous of those upright carts. I've never seen them before, but they look like they'd be much easier to move around.
You're so right that it's worth it to visit thrift stores - and so much fun, too! 😊 Thanks for sharing! ❤
Thanks Kim! I never thought of the Tulle for keeping the birds out. I will have to keep that in mind when my Blueberries are coming up! I wish I could use it for the ants that get to my figs before I do!!! Yes, thrifting is a wonderful pastime for me. Those carts were a steal!! Thanks for watching.
@@rbthegardennannyllc4219 Yes, tulle works *great* for keeping the birds from stealing your berries! So weird about the ants getting to your figs. I've never seen ants bother any of my plants or trees. I think it must be one of those regional things. The birds though - they *love* to eat my figs if I leave them on too long. 🤨😄
Yes the ants 🐜 get to my figs so I have to always get them before they get really ripe otherwise they cover the entire fig. And who wants that!?!? Yuck!
@@rbthegardennannyllc4219 Do they actually enter the fig, Renee, or just cover the outside? (Just thinking that if it's only the outside, I'd simply spray the ants off 🐜🐜🐜 with water before picking.)
Also, one thing I've learned with less-than-ripe figs is they don't ripen and sweeten after picking as much as some other fruits do. (Not a problem if they're *almost* ripe already.)
One trick is to seal the 'eye' of the fig with a dab of olive oil which traps the ethylene gas inside and promotes further ripening. Being left on a sunny window for a day can help a lot, too. 😎
Figs are so good! I'm growing several different varieties now. It's a shame they don't keep longer for fresh eating, but I've found they freeze super well and make a great jam, too. ❤️ Hope you figure out what works best with your ant problem!
Oooh great tips. I believe they are just all over not inside but I haven’t stopped to check. I just remove and throw them away. Thanks Kim!!!!
