reminds me of modern psych rock album covers, probably might be a sign that it's just objectively beautiful to the human eye. it's not too much sensory information, but it's vibrant, active, organized, and speaks to symbolism we all understand
Hi everyone! This is a screenshot from tomorrow’s TED-Ed video: ow.ly/4nkeUT. Can you guess what the lesson is about? Winner(s) will get a shoutout in the comments tomorrow!
I loved your animation. It reminded me of my childhood days. Recently you all are coming with varieties of animation styles. I am loving all these variations. Topics are also great. Keep up the good work. I love Ted-Ed.
Invisible No because without communication we would probably starve to death, and the entire world economy would collapse, people would die and never reproduce e.t.c the reasons should be obvious
katten elvis believe me if they couldn't talk people WILL invent a way to communicate like it or don't.. so basically .... no problem will be solved at all as long as human race survives. as easy as it is
The cells inside the body of a brain dead human also communicate with each other, and a brain dead human will exhibit a chemical defense when doctors try to harvest the organs for donation.
No, the cells in a human body can only communicate for a couple hours before they run out of atp. That would happen way before the organs were harvested.
I think plants just look at us like an average person would look at a school bully, sigh & think "they'll be gone next year, just ignore them!" They've been hear millions of years, our existence is just a blink of an eye to them
+ciao ciaoi They haven't figured out that plants are alive. I want to see one wearing cotton or cutting their grass and just yell "PLANT MURDER!" at them.
+ciao ciaoi If you are serious, or downplaying them in any way; You might need to realise the difference between chemical exchanges between non sentient organisms, like bacteria, PLANTS, etc *&*, Actual verbal and physical communication of thoughts or emotions, and interpretation. lel *Oh, looky, I can Already see the cross validating (no need for facts here) herd gathering in this place, time to get some popcorn with salt and no butter, lololo.* I'm surprised to see uneducated idiots on a ted ed video....snorting whatever their confirmation bias can leewl. -*V. cool jokey otherwise
i find it awsome that even though plants dont have a nervous system or a brain each individual cells works together to reasure the survival of the the plants as a whole. even though it doesnt know why it wants to live, nor probably does it have a concept of death altogether it still fights to survive. not to different to what happens in each of our individual organs 24/7 for as long as we're alive. crazy how all of this is happening on the microscopic level and we are conscious and lucky enough to observe all of it
Anthony Morado No she's not. Basically all criminals in there have their own reasons, yet instead of trying to understand and learn what caused them to behave, all trying to either inprison them or put in Arkham Asylum. Kind of the same what we have in our present days.
is this why people say that some herbs act as insect repellents for other nearby vegetable plants? The herb acts as a sortof mine canary for the nearby vegetable plants, alerting them of any incomming insect attack?
Plants can also communicate with each other.Just like animals, plants produce all kinds of chemical signals in response to their environments, and they can share those signals with each other, especiall when they're under attack. This signals take two routes: Through the air and through soil. When plant leaves get damaged
Hi,I have a question , how did plants evolve from simple ancient eukaryotic cells that makes up life. And why is it so different than how animals evolve ?Is there any evolutionary pressures that contributed to these ?
+Syed Ariff The closest thing (I know) about how higher organisms can have evolved out of "ancient cells" is the endosymbiotic theory. The endosymbiotic theory states that at the "begining of life" there were certain structures (Proteins etc) that came together and formed "closed" organisms that were able to replicate the structure of every component of that organism. These were the first "cells". These cells sometimes combined for example because of the massive environmental changes when oxygen became more prominent in the earth athmosphere. The big difference between plant and animal cells is, that plant cells have 1. a cell wall and 2. chloroplasts, which are the components that allow the plant to perform photosynthesis. According to the endosymbiotic theory chloroplasts were once autonomous organisms which were consumed by archae (=ancient cells). Ancient "animal cells" simply did not consume these chloroplasts. I hope this isn´t too long and I havn´t made any major mistakes in my attempted explanation. Have a good day.
+TimesNuRoman Not really, because animals eat plants, and if animals give plants pain by eating them, eating meat gives pain to plants and animals. I'm not a vegetarian, though.
Vegetarians eat plants for a healthy and more beneficial alternative to meat and avoid animal endangerment. But I'm not vegetarian, this is just my common sense.
Plants can also communicate with each other.Just like animals, plants produce all kinds of chemical signals in response to their environments, and they can share those signals with each other, especiall when they're under attack. This signals take two routes: Through the air and through soil. When plant leaves get damaged whether by hungry insects or an invading lawn mower, they release plumes of volatile chemicals.

there's a latest research showing that plants are so much more symbiotic than mere competition for sunlight...they actually shares their carbon, nutrient to other plants thru underground network....
+PrussiasGirl Well, human's are an accident too, and that's basically what evolution is. Some stuff just was beneficial and it stuck through survival and bad traits died off. It's not like the plants are doing this on purpose.

There is a theory that plants work together. -- Simard now believes large trees help out small, younger ones using the fungal internet. Without this help, she thinks many seedlings wouldn't survive. In the 1997 study, seedlings in the shade - which are likely to be short of food - got more carbon from donor trees."These plants are not really individuals in the sense that Darwin thought they were individuals competing for survival of the fittest," says Simard in the 2011 documentary Do Trees Communicate? I dont know why, but this animation style is just so wonderful :)
+ Abraham Animations yeah it's genious to use calm and slow video to figure plants
reminds me of modern psych rock album covers, probably might be a sign that it's just objectively beautiful to the human eye. it's not too much sensory information, but it's vibrant, active, organized, and speaks to symbolism we all understand
It's yukai's ♥️✨
I was thinking the same thing
this video is so quiet and peaceful
yeesss almost like in an ASMR video :))
I loved it too ❤
I should tell my plants to tell plants of my neighbor to stop climbing over the fence.
No eat it its healthy
You have to be silent but also wise, also avoid all the violence humanity displays against each other and against nature and animals.
firstly, how will u tell ur plants ? secondly why will ur plant obey u ?
firstly, how will u tell ur plants ? secondly why will ur plant obey u ?
Hi i am from 2021 year
This actually proves plants have perception. It is just different from ours. Not less relevant.
Visuals were amazing, the music and background sounds were pleasing and the information was interesting. 5/5 👍
The animation is awesome!
Yaas
As always.
his voice is so soothing
"What Plants Talk About' is a great documentary on this subject.

About xray or animal/plant testing?

this video is a work of art

if people were as silent as plants .. 90% of world problems would be auto solved
And Trump is a bug
10%-ish but it would cause more problems than it solves
katten elvis as long as we'll live in a beauty of silence the sacrifices are worth it

Why is this video making me happy for no reason 🤔
Very interesting how so much is communication is going on even though it looks as if there is none at all!
why is this so relaxing, makes learning fun XD
this is just...really pretty...

I am obsessed with these videos
The music in this one is great!
gorgeous ilustration and animation :3
Pixar should now make an animated film about "Plant Story" instead of pumping out endless "Toy Story" sequels
The animation is so great. I don't know why its making me so happy!
