It's on the DC CAB SOUNDTRACK and I know I'm not the only one who rembers MR T
I want this on record. I once owned it. This is one of their best songs

Remember this sounds like pointer sisters im so excited and neutron dance did shalamar come first.

Alex, it's on 'The Very Best of Shalamar' CD released by Castle Music/Sanctuary in 1995 (CCS CD 803) and then a re-release in 2000 (CMRCD 038).
@Apollo Zero :This is definitely not a drum machine; but really a Simmons electronic drum kit... This undoubtedly sounds like it's played on a drum kit; when it's programmed on a drum machine, you can hear it
I thought that Deadline U.S.A. was to be found in the Friends album;therefore it seems strange to me that it's "1984"...
You don't find this Shalimar song on many greatest hits album.
No;it's not on the "Friends" album,and has never been ! :-) it IS 1984 !
