I was 13 14 back then but i do remember the remixes coming on about a month after the original and keeping the song hot for another couple of months. Remixes back then wasn't a bunch of more rappers on the mike saying the same thing, but they kept the song but reworked it and made it better... I never heard a late 80's/early 90's remix that was garbage.
