    hope your knee is going super well. I bet you are champing at the bit to get back into the pottery Awesome little nativity 💜💜💜💜💜. I love the quote by Ben Carter and I'm going to mangle it but it goes something like this. "Earthenware is like the girl next door, she is warm and homey and really lovely, works with you on just about everything. Porcelain is like that stunning beauty who cheats on you but you keep going back cos you think it's going to be different the next time."

    Hi Tiffany, love this version of the nativity, something to make for my daughter and grandsons. 11 days in, I hope you are home and the pain is feeling much better. You are such a determined person, you will be back in your studio before you know it, just not yet lol. Keep doing your exercises. Keep taking the meds. If I don’t see you before Christmas, have a wonderful relaxed one, let your family spoil you. Take care. Sue x

    I've been working a lot with Laguna Frost, a cone 6 porcelain. I find that if I slam wedge it, it wakes the clay up. Otherwise it can be short. The other thing I find with that particular clay is that it dries quickly, and it soaks up water like a sponge, so I've got to keep a careful balance of adding water when throwing with it. But I love the whiteness and transparency when fired. I also noticed changes with the Standard 365 porcelain. Many clays have been reformulated since the talc shortage. We've got to get used to the new products.
    Your nativities are super cute! I'm contemplating ways to incorporate some of these ideas in my work, and make it my own. Sandy is so creative! And you are also, taking the idea and running in a different direction with it.
    I'm glad the surgery went well and you're feeling better. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, and to everyone else out there who celebrates!

    Hi. WOW, I love these nativity gnome pieces. I can imagine how frustrating it must have been when the clay wouldn't do what you wanted. The idea of using the transfer as a background is an excellent idea. Hopefully, now that you've had your op, you are getting stronger and are on the mend.

      @@hobblecreekpottery so something is wrong with the clay then. I’ve never used this one. The only ones from Aardvark I’ve used are Terra red and Dixon. The porcelain I use are Laguna Frost and Standard 365. They are both very plastic but the 365 is more forgiving.👍🏻💞

      Oh, honey! She does care - more than you’ll ever know - and I know there’s absolutely no disrespect meant here at all. Tiffinie is one of the most beautiful, loving, kindest, most giving, creative souls that I know. Maybe you could just take it as, “To each his own.” See it instead as a woodland gnome family! Okay, it’s not your jam and that’s okay. We are all different but we can all do our best to be kind and accepting of differences. After all, we are a tribe in that we ALL love clay! 😊 Yay!!!

    • @myperfectlyimperfectgarden7233
      @myperfectlyimperfectgarden7233 11 месяцев назад

      Yes, she does seem to be a very nice person, and that's why I stressed that she probably didn't know it was disrespectful. I also acknowledge that she is free to create her art in any way she sees fit. I was merely pointing out that as she does seem to be sensitive to others, that even in art, we should all respect each others cultures and be sensitive to all people. And that's why I pointed out in another post that I'll be waiting for the Mohamid gnome, or the Ghandi gnome, ot maybe the Geronimo gnome??? All beloved leaders should be characterized respectfully and shouldn't be trivialized.
