Pl[‘ Shaye’s solo on this jazz classic is itself a jazz classic filled with the love this wonderful girl has for this fabulous music and for the fabulous city that created it for us to enjoy and treasure.
They make it look so easy, ... but this is split-second, complex arrangement and rhythm requiring everyone to be master of their instrument , with a constant eye and ear out for the rest of the band . And they have a huge repertoire, constantly varied, with new tunes every few weeks. This IS traditional jazz, ... none better.
You've got my vote. Have been waiting for something like this to come along for years. Captures the traditional NO sound perfectly ... and with taste and lots of energy. Bravo! Stan Vincent, New Black Eagle Jazz Band
@@thomastimlin1724 They all are! I used to play in a Dixieland band (clarinet), and they have it down to a science! As authentic as one can get! PS. I love Ms. Cohn. Fabulous trumpet, pianist, etc. She's got the "sound' just right!
He certainly cooked on his solo on this one. I think they're all fabulous musicians and when they put it altogether they create a stellar sound. Hoping they tour my part of Canada again soon.
I want to hear from the three idiots who gave this the thumbs down. If you don't like the genre, fine but these musicians are all masters in their own right and when they get together their sound can't be beat!
Dizzy also plays with Shake Em Up Jazz Band with Marla Dixon, Chloe Feoranza, Haruka Kikuchi, Molly Reeves & Julie Schexnayder. Check them out here: www.shakeemupjazzband.com
@@peterallmand2952 Shaye may be the very best of all time but every member of Shake 'Em Up is special. At least three good vocalists, excellent leader, world class trombone and clarinet super rythem. If you like Tuba Skinny you WILL like Shake 'Em Up.
Mark Horton I am thrilled that Shaye and Marla Dixon have both been invited to the Australian Jazz Conference in Dec this year in Albury NEw South Wales. This is the first time in 30 years that the AJC have been able to invite overseas artists so our two favourite New Orleans gals are in exalted company. I will be travelling 1800kms round trip to spend the week listening to them. They will be performing with some of Aussies best jazz bands. Bring it on!

As former music teacher, I have been looking for this for decades. Finally someone who understands "Authenticity." Ms. Cohn is a master.

I like watching the trumpet player run the band!
think She may be I/C but why not, Her is just Brill bless Her
She plays the cornet not trumpet.
The cornet player is a great musician, and a very good leader of the band, and has the best legs. A real winner.!
WOW! AMAZING!!!!
Love their music especially this song, I wear it out on my CD. I bet if Shaye ever got a cut, talent would pour out. Fantastic! Love you Shaye.

When were they in Canada?

Dizzy also plays with Shake Em Up Jazz Band with Marla Dixon, Chloe Feoranza, Haruka Kikuchi, Molly Reeves & Julie Schexnayder. Check them out here: www.shakeemupjazzband.com

Who originally recorded this skng?
Joseph 'King' Oliver's band in October 1929. It is available on RUclips and it is said that the composer's were Oliver and Dave Nelson.
Apostrophe in 'composers' was a mistake!
Do black guys play this stuff anymore? It's a great band but do black guys play this stuff anymore or have they all moved on to Burger King?
