One of my favorite videos ever. The content was good as usual, but I very much liked the approach of adding a tool to your shot making. I liked the addition of the "why I am adding this to my game", and the idea that it is a skill in development. You could do a follow-up video that features the same shots, but highlights the refinements you've made as well as problem points you've encountered (and probably overcome). Thanks, I'll be watching this one twice.
This is so good! The two handed backhand dinks, drops, and drives is what I’ve been drilling on and slowly implementing into games. When drilling you’re so right in starting with just your left hand when dinking and then two hands and it translates into the drops and drives. Offensive transition zone, yes, I like it! Overhead angles, left to right has been working good, opponents don’t expect it. Your content and videos are so good. Thanks so much.
Your videos are absolutely my favorites. I learn so much from you guys. I write these things down and try to get a lesson with a pro to help me with it. I’ve been stuck in a 3.5 level for over 2 years now and I want to be able to progress to 3.75 to be able to play in some more groups. Sometimes I feel like my age has a lot to do with it but it really shouldn’t. I can still move on the court and can hit all the shots required. I have a 2 handed and 1 handed backhand. I usually use the 1 handed when running for a ball and both for dinks and drops. Love to hit overheads and will try to get more angle on them. I Miss that tennis alley for that. Sometimes I feel a good overhead down the middle might be better for me and let them fight for it. Keep up the good work guys!
Such a great video. I am sure if varies, but about how long does it take to make a new shot 'match-ready.' I find that I can do a new shot well in practice but it is much harder to make it a regular part of an intense game.
Great video. I love how you both say they’re shots you are working on and a work in progress. It makes you very relatable. I’ve been working on all the backhand shots mentioned since November. A big thing I had to get over was thinking I wasn’t ready or consistent enough to use the shots vs better players in open play and even in my next tournament. I tell myself that it’s a journey, I can’t be afraid to make mistakes. They’ll happen but i’lll be better off in the long run. I’m not as consistent as I would like, but I like the direction I’m headed.
Question regarding Angled Overhead: Do you position your feet differently to hit this shot, similar to the TENNIS overhead? If so would love you guys to do a video specifically on how to best position your self for Angled Overhead 🙂
Great content as always! For the 2hbh do you guys have additional tips on getting the right hand to be more passive? I've tried playing almost exclusively lefty on the backhand side to get the left hand motion down but once I switch to 2h the right hand still takes over. I've thought about maybe wearing a write brace or something try to get the right hand to act more as a pivot point than directional control (probably a bad habit in tennis that's coming over)
It is tough, but one thing that has helped is to not really “hold” the paddle at all with my right hand. On the scale of grip pressure 1-10, my left is about a 4 or 5, and my right is a .5
Always excellent guys. I have found a practice partner. Been playing for 8 years and at now 80 have NEVER practiced. Will take these options to the practice session
Briones man your vids help me so much!! I've added topspin on my dinks because of your lessons. Question: is it ok to Speedup on a ball that is below the top of the net level? I noticed on your backhand Speed-up Dinks that it appeared you were below the top of the net when you sped up. Is that because the topspin arcs over the net allowing you to do that? Or do you recommend never speeding up if below top for the net?
Good content. A short while back, I had shoulder problems and my choice was either to try to develop my left hand or give up playing for a month. I played left-handed. Now that I can play on the right side again I'm doing exactly what you're talking about. I find that I'm taking what I learned playing leftie and applying it to the two-handed backhand from the right. Drives, drops, and dinks. Now I'm feeling a lot more confident and consistent returning any ball from the backhand.
I have an eastern forehand grip. Do I need to switch to continental or eastern backhand to properly execute the 2 handed backhand dink, drive, speedup, etc.
You guys are great duos. Backhand is definitely my weakness. Been wondering how I am going to improve this. My wish been answered So thank you souch coaches
It's interesting to hear Caden say that he was a left handed thrower who hits right handed overheads; I'm the opposite, and just this week I was thinking about whether it makes sense to switch hands for an overhead when I have time. I often end up hitting a left-handed backhand overhead, which doesn't tend to have much pace on it, but I can place it well, so I trust it. Thanks, as always, for the excellent instruction.
It looked like Kayden was feeding you backhand cut dinks while you practiced your 2 handed top spin dinks. Do you think it would be more difficult if you were getting a dink hit to you with more top spin on it?
A shot I notice with Anna L when she's playing the left side--the opponent hits a good shot deep to her backhand side. She's able to reach behind herself with the 2 handed backhand and still be offensive with her cross court return dink.
No really, his follow through is not putting enough topspin on the ball because its over his shoulder instead of being next to his earlobe. Tighten it up!
When Caden says "I'm lefthanded", does he really mean "I'm ambidextrous"? Why on earth would you choose to play pickleball with your right hand if you were left-handed?
He throws, baseball, football and golf left handed, does all other sports right handed. Not sure, he’s confused lol. He played ping pong growing up right handed, so that’s why he learned PB righty
What % of your viewers are 4.0+? Kind of surprised that 8 out of 10 of your viewers are only 3.0-3.5. Is that just based on the skill distribution across all pickleball players generally, or do you have those kinds of analytics about your viewers specifically?
Generally, this is players across the board. And based on content that we produce, this is true. Although everyone thinks that they are .5-1 whole level more than they really are
dumb question, but why 2 hand BH and not just a single? Able to get more topspin with 2 hands? 2 hands just feels so unnatural to me like trying to throw a baseball or football with my left hand
It’s way more efficient to get topspin by adding the left hand. With a single handed backhand, you would have to use a lot of your wrist, which makes it that much harder to hit consistent topspin

Thanks for the feedback!!!
“Try not to judge me” as Caden hits absolute heaters lol
😂
There's no judging here. We watched, learned & shared
Have a fun day
😂😂So true!

Happy to help!
Helped me a Ton too!
Thanks!
I really really appreciate this!
Thanks so much for the continued support! 😊
Why do you twirl the paddle between shots? Does that help you finesse your grip?
Helps keep my grip loose

Thanks! 😊

It definitely varies. It can take months at times. Gotta work hard !
Thanks guys. Love your instructional videos. Can you explain how you place your hands on the handle for 2-hand backhand shots. Thanks a bunch!
We’ll have to make a separate video of this !
Ok, thanks guys!@@BrionesPickleball

You can, but not necessary. Maybe another video!

At higher levels, everyone speeds up from below the net.
Good footwork and technique is necessary to do this consistently
great video content guys thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Good video. What paddle is Jordan using with the 2hand backhand
Selkirk LUXX

You can make it work with that grip. Although I use a continental for these shots
Caden snuck that ATP on y'all at 7:37 and you didn't even know it! Great piece you guys!! 👏
lol thanks
good video, I've been working with my two hand backhand for the past three weeks and its finally clicking. I feel more comfortable with it
Glad it helped!
You guys are great duos. Backhand is definitely my weakness. Been wondering how I am going to improve this. My wish been answered
So thank you souch coaches
Keep it up!
Love your videos. I'm 3.5 but make silly mistakes, decisions. Can you please do video on eliminating unforced errors.
Great idea. This should eliminate a lot of them:

Good Stuff, thank you gentlemen.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Greetings from Hilton Head, always good to see both of you and your tips and OMG shots. Regards to everyone in AZ
😎🤙🏼
please do a video on grip adjustments for top spins and cut shots and overheads
Maybe in a future video!
This is literally everything I’ve been working on adding to my game as well ✅
Sweet!!
what do you guys recommend for shoes? I just started playing Pickleball
Lots of great ones, I use Wilson pickleball shoes

😊
Wondering if you put lead tape on that paddle? I’m getting one soon
Around the 4 and 8 o’clock position
All really good shots. Now put a video out with each one in Super Slow Motion as a Part 2
Good idea
I noticed that both of you guys have a finger on the paddle for the two hand backhand. Just preference or feels better that way?
Preference. Although i find it does give players more control
How do you get so much power on the backhanded snap?!
All in the hips and a loose wrist ! 😊
That’s funny. Those are the shots that I have used from the beginning but I don’t have a slice shot yet.
👍🏻👍🏻

She’s amazing
I saw that ATP, Caden 😂 7:36
lol
Jordan,
Thanks for pushing our envelopes. Now challenges, but worth the time to practice, practice, practice.
Absolutely!
Which pro has the best two-handed backhand dink? James Ignatovich?
Garnett and Ignatowich
Great session. Cadence needs to work on his follow through on 2 handed backhand.
lol thanks
No really, his follow through is not putting enough topspin on the ball because its over his shoulder instead of being next to his earlobe. Tighten it up!
Are you purposefully using the Pickleball Studio music in this video? lol
Didn’t even notice lol
Please make another video addressing women in their late 60's (who are heavier).
Stay tuned, we have new videos coming out every week !
imma try ALW's running serve next time i play 🤪
Haven’t seen that lol
legit decided to take 2 months off of tournaments to work on all the exact same skills
Awesome!
I am seeing a common theme of two handed shots.
Yes…
Caden says he is left handed. But he plays all right handed. Maybe he should play left handed????
At this point, it’s too late
@@BrionesPickleball😂

I would guess 20-30 percent of viewers are actually 4.0-4.5+
@@BrionesPickleball but that would leave 0% left for 3.5-4.0, which I would bet is actually your most engaged subset of players.
Sorry I meant to say most players are 3.0-4.0, with the average player being 3.5
It is a wide range
Hmmm....love Ben but I would say ALW is the #1 player.
Men’s and women’s #1 players. Two different categories
This game is slowly turning into tennis with a paddle. Which is fine, I love tennis…… sigh. Tiny tennis.
It is, and it isn't! I assume you've played both. Tiny tennis - cute!
I would disagree…
Yeah, you're right. There's still way more differences between the sports.
