Thank you so much!I’m just trying to shorten my corners on a Queen size fitted sheet but the sheet is to big & the pockets way to long.I bought a queen size fitted sheet so I was sure it would fit! Please can you please answer me in inches.Thank You kindly.😢
I am guessing you bou g ht an extra deep queen sheet. Your mattress is not thick enough for it. The best and easiest thing to do is to pin in place and do your alterations.
Thank you so much for sharing this. Purchased fitted sheets always come away from the corners and I’m always fighting with them when I make my bed. This is going to solve that problem, and I can choose any fabric I like rather than only being able to choose from the limited range available in Manchester.

@michlog, you are very welcome! Thanks for watching and leaving your comment, I appreciate you. The length of the elastic will depend on the size of the mattress you are making the fitted sheet for. The elastic will be slightly shorter than the length of the perimeter of the mattress. It is the corners of the fitted sheet that will have most of the gathers. Buy more than you think you need and fit the sheet before cutting the elastic. Hope this helps. At some point, I will try to do a short lesson to show the best way to figure out how much elastic you will need to buy for your fitted sheet. Hi, my great granddaughter (nonverbal and autistic) has a regular twin mattress w 39" X 75" L and 6' deep. I'm all confused trying to figure out how to size your demonstration down to this size! Can you please help me with this? You are an excellent teacher I'm a new subscriber to your awesome channel! Be blessed and thank you all the way from Texas, Debbie
Hi Debbie. You would only need to add the wrap under and allowance for the hem in order to get the fabric panel size to make the sheet to twin size. I can consider doing a twin size sheet in a lesson, using your measurements. However, I cannot give you a time. I will do it as soon as possible. @ValrineVernonHome~ Wonderful tutorial! Quick question regarding the elastic. What is your formula for how long the piece of elastic should be? I love that you made a channel pocket for the elastic. Do you sew the elastic itself at all, or just let in float in the channel pocket? I assume you ran the elastic 360 degrees around the entire fitted sheet, is that correct? I have to either mend/patch 3 different fitted sheets because my husband keeps ripping holes in them where his feet are during his sleep, or I am going to have to make a new fitted sheet. Unfortunately, we have a King Size mattress with 16-18" Deep sides...My top sheet will work on the width measurement, but I will have to piece together another top sheet to make it long enough for the top-bottom length needed. Luckily, 2 of the sheets he has torn are from identical sheets sets and the 3rd is the same color just without stripes on it. It may not look perfect, but it is much more cost effective than buying NEW Sheets!! HAHA Let me know about the length of the elastic & what formula you used to determine the correct length for a good fit. Thank you so much! ~~Christy~~

Thank you, Barbara! You are very kind. I appreciate you. 🙏 🥰
I love how you explained the masurement for the fitted sheet
Thank you!
You are very welcome! Thanks a lot for watching and taking the time to leave your comment. You may also like this video lesson ruclips.net/video/bnvrVWpupuo/видео.html
Thanks for an excellent explanation. How do I get the measurement of the elastic?

~~Christy~~

How much elastic needed
Depending on the elasticity of the elastic and whether or not you are applying the elastic to the four corners only or all around the sheet, you will need 1/3 to 2/3 of the the perimeter of the sheet in elastic
I have gotten a few questions like this. Therefore, I will do a lesson shortly, so you can see precisely what I mean. Cheers!
