Omg, you're such a great teacher. I had watched several other videos before I came across your video and I've learned nothing from them 🤦♀️. You're amazing! Sending thank you all the way from Belize 🇧🇿.
Looked all over for this! Fixing an old sheet. Some sites said 4" less than the circumference; others said just use 4 yards. You are so right! This measurement makes perfect sense, and worked perfectly.
thank you for this quick tutorial! my mom's mattress is an odd size and i decided to just sew fitted sheets for it after driving myself nuts looking for it everywhere.
Lovely, thanks a lot for leaving your comment! You may also want to see how to calculate how much elastic you will need ruclips.net/video/NiKKJI13Nnc/видео.htmlsi=-zmoP5B_1bKyd-CB All the best with your project. I wish I could see photos of your finished project. 🥰
Hi Valrine, I wonder how to calculate the elastic band, if I only need for the 4 corners of the fitted sheet instead of going round the fitted sheet. Tks
@MaryKoh-g4w you can figure out how far around the corner you want the elastic to go then calculate 2/3 of that and multiply by 4. (Consider the elasticity of the elastic)
Hi shaminali8519, welcome!. This video lesson is about how to make a twin fitted sheet from a flat sheet. It may be helpful to you. Check it out at ruclips.net/video/Y94lCDnC2n0/видео.html Thank you for your kind words! Cheers 🙏😊
Hi Valrine, I bought my 5 yds of elastic. I’ve measured the middle of the two 60 in ends. And Am measuring the two long 80in sides. How much elastic do I use for each length? The long side and the shorter side…IS that also 2/3 of the 60. And 2/3 of the 80 inch as well..MATH is not my best skill! There is a name for that and it eludes me at the moment…mahalo
Hi @KathyinFlorida, if you are going around the entire sheet you will need to make your pocket to string the elastic through. Depending on how stretchy the elastic is, you will need to adjust how much of the 5 yards you use. You may want to watch this video to see if it helps. ruclips.net/video/JOTtap_wsSg/видео.html
Um, I’m trying to get an elastic into a full/double contour sheet without having difficulty. I’ve never had to do this before. Ur talking about a queen contour sheet. I’m not good dealing with math.

Are you in the NY area Valerie?
No, I am not in the NY area. Why do you ask?
What if you don't want your elastic all the way around
Then you decide where you want thecelastic and do the calculations.

What help do you need?
So a twin sheet according to my math would be 4 yards. Does anyone agree with me? Please let me know.
Close enough, with a fraction.
