What a wonderful lesson. A true teacher can explain the most difficult connections simply. You have revealed a secret for me - with simple, logical words - and opened up a new world for me. Thank you so much for that!!!
Thank you so much Kevin didn't know much about tritone sub but now it's really cool. Thank you. My favourite passing chord is the passing diminished and the 251. But I have a feeling it's about to be the tritone sub lol
Best explanation of passing chords, love how you explain the theory. I watch this video every time I practice so I can practice all 5 essentials. You all are Amazing teachers at Pianote!
So much packed into one 13 minute video. And you mentioned modulating into another key so fast it was like a blip on the screen. Wish you would do a video just on that.
Finally someone explained in a way I can understand why ii V I is such a frigging useful trick to have.... wao! Thanks, and thank you for leading with what these SOUND like ❤
Thank you!! I love to hear all the beautiful possibilities that await me when I get a little more advanced! I started piano lessons only 4 months ago and after spending a lot of time on basic music theory and learning all the major and minor scales I am practising chords now. This video makes me want to focus on chords even more! I am getting a little impatient though because it takes so long for my brain to translate the absorbed information to my fingers. There is so much to learn and I am eager to finally being able to play smoothly without having to think 5 seconds about every next move... 😅
Incredible lesson. Just what i was looking for to take my chord progressions to the next level. I play guitar but looking forward to playing with these ✌️
Immediately I want to try combining techniques: what if you approach the ii (or even the V!) in the ii V I itself with another ii V relative to that ii, or with a tritone sub, or ...
Great video! I was wondering though, if I want to go from C minor to F minor, how would I utilise ii7 V7 I when the 1 chord is minor? Do i use II maj7 v7 i?
Great question, a ii-V-i to a minor chord is a slightly different progression with the same root notes. The formula is with 7th chords is: iim7(b5) - V7(b9) - imin7 In this case, F minor is your target chord. The progression is: Cm7 - Gm7(b5) - C7b9 - Fm7
Amazing lesson today but please could you slow down and also in addition to the music scale please put down another table for the notes you play and their roots since the fingering is very fast🙏🏻💯

Hey Peter! You would want to use a Gm7 (ii) - C7 (V) - F7 (I)
Thank you👍
