I don't need a hunch to tell that this is a good man with a kind heart. I really enjoyed this video from start to finish. Psychology in general interests me even though I'm an Engineer. I'd be your friend just to have coffee and listen to you talk about all these studies. Thank you for this video.

Wow Nawaf, thank you for the incredibly kind words. They mean so much to me! It's been over a month since I recorded a video, but your kindness has inspired me to get back to it. Subscribe if you'd like to see more and let me know if there are any topics you'd like me to explore in particular!
      You the best Nawaf!

@@PatsPsychologyMSc Hey Pat! I have dabbled on and off and always enjoyed it. But, I had noticed in the past that I got put off by my own negativity when reading back my own thoughts, but I think after re-discovering it again, I feel like I am putting more thought into the catharsis of it. If I write about something upsetting or traumatic, I am noticing that the words tend to end on more positive, action-oriented tones. I am preaching it's benefits from the rooftops to my clients! Loved your anecdote about JP's first control trial, and makes me think that the true purpose of writing is to "out" our emotions, and that is our natural leaning, perhaps?

@@alanmuskett3323 that is brilliant Alan, I'm delighted to hear you're getting more utility out of the practice these days! Perhaps it might be useful for you not to revisit what you've written, and simply discard it when finished writing. What do you think?
Brilliant that it's so useful you're recommending it to clients! May I ask what your profession is?

@@PatsPsychologyMSc That's a good idea, will give that a try. I don't mind at all, at the moment I am a bit of an eclectic mix of mindfulness teacher, hypnotherapist and "resilience coach". I gave up my corporate career two years ago with an interest in people's mental welfare so I am building up my skill base at the moment. I teach mindfulness/resilience to groups, privately and corporate/charity and do 1:1 mindfulness/hypnotherapy.

@@alanmuskett3323 what a fascinating career path! It sounds like you're finding more meaning from your new career. I admire people who make such life changes, fair play to you Alan.
Also, I only now realise that I never answered your original question! Yes I absolutely agree that a most beneficial tendency is to ensure our emotions are expressed, and I'm convinced that writing is a valuable expressive tool. I actually have a wellbeing campaign based upon the importance and utility of having what I call #NothingToHide

Fascinating insight into expressive writing. Thanks for being so open about your experiences. But on a serious note, can I ask just 1 question?
