Cool vid! Try this: put a couple cups of white vinegar in a quart jar then take some very fine steel wool in jar, kinda torn up. Let it sit for a couple weeks and get really rusty. Strain it off and wipe it onto a deglazed piece of veg-tan. Turns it a really cool blue gray.
That's how I like to finish pine for an antique look! one of my old shops had a full wall unit built using an iron stain, never tried it with leather - I'll give it a go!
Corter Leather, yep. That’s why I had it to begin with. I got into leather work last year and didn’t have any dye. I thought I’d give it a try and it came out really cool. Keep up the great work!!
The old way of dyeing your veg-tan black was using a tea bath with an iron nail in it. Just get a bucket of water and add a few black tea bags to it. Drop in a non-coated iron nail in and wait a few weeks. The liquid broth/tea with turn your leather a blue-ish black.
It occurs to me that 'indigo' is the color we associate with 'blue' jeans...which often use yellow stitching. Perhaps yellow thread will give a more blue-jeanie feel to the piece. I enjoy your work. Thanks for taking the time to post videos of what you do.
Hey !! love you're videos, you make leather working look so easy. Whenever I have a bad day of leather working I look at your videos and get a lot of motivation. PS what is the glue you use, what's it called
yep, we use citric acid :) I've tested a bunch of stuff, and I've even got pieces from 2010 that were not neutralized that have lived long, happy lives so far and are still going strong!
You have a great tools I am too fare from you But some day I'll buy them and return to make a beautiful lither work I hope 😊 Keep the good work you do 👍👍
Gotta respect a man who wears toe rings!
I think that was the wife...

I do that same trick to age wood. Works great!
I just started working with leather. These videos are wonderful. I can't wait to get to this level.

That was an awesome work! I love the variety of dyeing techniques used in your channel! Tank you, keep going!!👏👏👏
Incredible craftsmanship. question- is the edger you use in the video a CS Osborn 125 Common Edge Tool? If so, is it the 5/32" or 9/64'?
hii, do you have any suggestion what liquid to fix the color ? so its not bleeding?
The stitching on the flap lines up perfectly with the bottom portion Well done!
Thanks so much!
Also, the top stitch matches the bottom it seams....er seems..
Do you get colour transferring?
This has spiked my interest big time!!!!!!
This was a top notch video!

I love your channel! Can’t stop watching.
Beautiful color, no more chemicals on my leather, thanks...
nice work.
plz more videos about dyeing
SIMPLY AMAZING ALWAYS INCREDIBLE WORK I LOVE IT THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS FANTASTIC VIDEO I REALLY ENJOYED IT
Did you neutralize the indigo? If not, your leather is going to decay. Citric acid will do the job, then rinse with water.

Those rings look cool AF
AWESOME technique very creative🤗
Do you know where I can get that dye online?
that looks great! Ty for sharing
I m still wondering why dont u use a stitching clamp ? or is it just for the vdo ?
Nice work as always
Cool video 👍 what technique do you use for stitching?
Do you have a showroom?
I like video, but what is this for ?
just a simple pouch wallet, or card pouch, or pouch to hold anything under 4" x 5" :)
Looks Nice. I was wondering how old was the dye mix when you dipped the leather into it? It looked pretty funky.
It's not a dye. It's a chemical reaction that causes the color to change. It starts off black, then turns green, then blue.
You have a great tools
I am too fare from you
But some day I'll buy them and return to make a beautiful lither work I hope 😊
Keep the good work you do 👍👍
And again in the air of the restless couple. In the next series. Painting the chicken right in the egg in yellow. Don't miss out!!!
What kind of stitching are you using there? It seems you are using just one needle.
it's a 2 needle saddle stitch, just without a stitching pony. We're going to do a video about it some time soon~ish!
6:08 proper skills!
Most of your audio is in the right channel only. I always watch videos with headphones on with the left ear on and right ear off.
