Holy shit. This is literally the best cover of the Doom soundtrack I've ever heard. As another commenter said, it enhances the sounds of all the instruments while not going overboard and changing a bunch of stuff. Just like a fresh coast of paint on an already-beautiful car. Amazing work!
This is such an incredibly tasteful remix of DOOM's ost. Andrews IDFKA is fantastic and still extremely good to this day, but I like this because while his is good, it's a much more stylistic and modern take. Where as yours is more of a faithful take that reminds me of games like Blood that have a midi and a cd version of some of the same songs. This would be like if DOOM came with a cd quality version of its soundtrack and if Bobby Prince composed more using a live band rather than just strictly Roland SC-55 instruments. Really amazing stuff.
Wow, this is soo good. Too bad its late at night right now. I probably gonna damage my Speaker system/amp tomorrow. RIP AND TEAR (bedtime rn, FIREBLUE nightmare coming up)
Mirko, whose bass I borrowed for this remake (mine being unplayable), has a band. And quite a tough one. Be sure to check them out! ruclips.net/video/RLcQVKD3FkM/видео.html
This is a fantastic remake of the original soundtrack. There are a couple of criticisms I do have though, or rather, suggestions to improve upon a couple of songs: 1) While your rendition of Dark Halls is good, I feel it could be more ethereal sounding like the original was. It feels like it needs just that little bit more reverb/echo to make it sound a bit more epic. 2) The rendition of Sign Of Evil here is spot on, bar one specific detail; the opening notes on the guitar riffs use bending, of which can be heard in the original midi (one example is this SC-55 recording ruclips.net/video/rLvSD5HuIcE/видео.html). Without said bending, it feels incomplete. The rest of the song is nigh perfect Apart from those two criticisms, this remake album is perfect. Out of this and Andrew Hulshult's effort (of which, I think we can all agree, has some beautiful renditions), I prefer this one, especially since your remakes of The Demons From Adrian's Pen, They're Going To Get You and Waltz Of The Demons are faithful to the original midis (As much as I love Hulshult's work, his versions of The Demons From Adrian's Pen and They're Going To Get You are pretty bad in my opinion, especially in the latter's case). Good job ❤
In Dark Halls, maybe just longer notes could've resolved that missing epicness, as I remember them being shorter hits. If going for 100% perfection, ofc the whole keyboard sound is anyways "wrong", but my workstyle in these remakes has been trying to figure out from scratch and create the sound with tools I have, without finding out about the original MIDI instrument or such, so that's closest I got. And I remember when doing Sign of Evil, I had some weird blockade, maybe in my guitar or my ears or my head, because after many and many takes, I couldn't just get those bends to stay in tune every single time. It was really frustrating in ears so kinda went the easy way lol. But yes, you are correct about the bends. Great comment, thanks for that! It's interesting if people search for certain flaws, because I do that all the time, in an educational purpose to improve. It is meant to be faithful, yet at the same time it's my artistic view, how I heard these soundtracks in this kind of "modern" vibe. Got pretty close imo ✌
Do you think you could do the MIDIs for Wolfenstein 3D? I haven't seen anyone else do anything with the music for Doomguy's great great grandpappy except for one dude who used a Roland. I'd love to hear what they'd sound like this way.
I did a banger mashup from the songs I found good imo. Also some songs have already been done with Doom 2 ost remake. Otherwise, didn't strike that much for me. :| Banger Mashup: ruclips.net/video/pxf03M2tLSo/видео.html

Thanks for sharing the vid, bro. Good to get some visibility for this, if there's other Doom OST enthusiasts looking for a faithul mix. 🙏
why am i only NOW finding this!?!? SICK!
Same 😊 but finally we did find it

It’s perfect. It retains the original feel of the soundtrack and doesn’t go overboard. It’s just simple metal riffs, the way it’s supposed to be.

This is really, really faithfull and I love it, the 'Sweet Little Dead Bunny' one is my favorite
Glad you find it faithful and to your liking!
its everywhere
Why is the shotgun hyper-realistic tho 😭

That's what i've been waiting for, that's what it's all about!

Maybe at some point but no promises. There's bangers in that OST as well.

I'll see what I can do
ruclips.net/video/VlJGetwEciM/видео.html
Can we get the songs outside the WAD?
I'll upload them to Bandcamp as soon as I'm able
You can extract them with a WAD editor; I personally use SLADE
sxp-kolibri92.bandcamp.com/album/ultimate-doom-ost-remake
also downloadable for free from my Bandcamp-site
Am I allowed to use this in a game I'm making? Is it distributed under Creative Commons? Would using this music violate an iD copyright? Thanks...
I guess it doesn't violate so far if you give credits, of the originals and remakes.
Tbh not 100% sure. 😅
I wonder who came here for At Doom's Gate and stayed for the rest?
Я
Not I, I came for Hiding the Secrets

Can you do it for TNT ost? 🙈
He already did
