i love how in the e6m9 song you can hear the drums from the doom 2 intermission. or maybe im just going insane but im pretty sure those are the doom 2 drums
Hey James! Just wanted to pop by and thank you for the amazing soundtrack! I played this back in December and loved it! I bought the soundtrack the day you made it available and I've been loving it since! Thanks for what you do, your MIDIs are incredible!
I was riding my bike today listening to this video and I just felt like the coolest guy in the world, thank you very much john romero, u did it again u son of a gun
I finished playing Sigil 2 yesterday and honestly your music made the entire experience so much better. Also I do like how "Walls of the Minotaur" syncs up with the CyberDemon's footsteps a bit
I have yet to try the new Sigil, but the ost is awesome! I can't even single out something specific, it just rocks as a whole. E6M9 keeps reminding me of good old Rise of the Triad. [sheds a nostalgic tear]
Kickass soundtrack man! I haven’t played Sigil II yet, but I’m so looking forward to hearing these in-game. I’ve already played The Impenetrable Dark like three times over now. It makes me think of Star Wars: Dark Forces and ‘Mist Ache’ from ROTT at the same time
How did Hexaphobia come to life so to speak? I get really heavy (no puns intended) Dio/Tony Martin era Black Sabbath vibes from it. The grooves in Hexaphobia just hits perfectly. Absolute banger.
I hope to dear christ Romero brings you back for Hellion. I don't know how you do it but you somehow have a perfect sense for what a map 1 track should sound like. I know it was for the previous SIGIL but Hate Machine is one of my favourite Doom tracks.
Any chance we can also get all these songs individually, not in one big video? just asking, still love all this music even if I had my issues with the maps. Wasn't that tragic tho. With this music in the background, you just get such a 90s / 2000s vibe
Is it me or does walls of the Minotaur give me Shawn’s got the shotgun vibes? Edit: the part with the bells in the background on Cathedral Rock is too good🔥🔥🔥
Stellar soundtrack! Any plans to release them as *individual videos,* like with Sigil 1's OST? I would like to have the option to have the OST on Shuffle Mode and maybe even download them for offline listening. :)
No plans to upload them again as individual videos, but the album is *name your price* on Bandcamp, so you can grab everything as a separate audio file there. jamespaddock.bandcamp.com/album/sigil-ii-the-midi-soundtrack
I don't think it has been pointed out, but I assume you took some inspiration from Blood on E6M8's wind up? All of the tracks are really good, but Final Impact and Walls of the Minotaur especially are awesome!
@@MtPain27 the original soundfont always sounded terrible. I always turn off the soundtrack in doom 1&2 to play the same soundtrack in the background, but with normal quality. compare at least e1m8 in the game with regular e1m8. The soundtrack of Sigil 2 with a different soundfont is much better, I just don't understand why James uploads his tracks in compressed midi quality
@@themisterdellou These MIDI tracks (like all of my tracks written for Doom maps) were made with the default General MIDI Wavetable Synth in mind - this sound is still the standard in all PCs. That's generally the only way you CAN write midi compositions and guarantee a consistent sound across platforms. I tried writing with specific soundfonts in mind and found it pretty miserable. Applying a soundfont en masse to a carefully-written midi track basically destroys the intended mix and timbre of the original composition. I realised this myself a few years back and that's why I haven't gone through the (arguably very long-winded and laborious) process of finding soundfonts that **don't** make the original midis sound like a hive of angry bees in an echo chamber (or worse) before prepping them for upload to RUclips. Even finding soundfonts that are supposed to emulate the GM Wavetable Synth 1:1 is difficult, because they tend not to emulate it all that precisely. Now that I've hit upon a soundfont that works well to emulate the GM sound (thanks Doomkid!) I can finally present the tracks the way that I've always heard them, and that they are intended to **be** heard. Going forward, that's how I'm gonna be uploading all my MIDI works to this channel.
Not a single other soundfont out there plays MIDI as clear as this, one of the reasons to love it. But your opinion and taste in other soundfonts is respected.
@@JamesPaddockMusic I know exavtly what you are saying. A few years ago, I spent a lot of time trying to create a personal sf2 out of dozens of free and one payware soundfont (which I regretted buying as it sounded awful despite having great samples here and there). My main reference was the original Doom soundtrack and my old SC-55 card (replaced by a SC-88 module with the UM-One cable later). The same song can sound vastly different if samples or volumes between them are way off. And even if a sample sounded objectively better, it sometimes still failed to work for Doom or in combination with other samples... I do not know how many attempts I needed, but ended up with two sf2 in the end. One pretty close to original SC-55, and one still close in general, but with better quality samples and volumes, which are far less "aggressive" sounding. There are still some samples which I never got to fit exactly right with every song, but I still prefer it even over my SC-88 now, as it sounds a bit more alive and clearer. Your soundtrack is one of the best midi arrangements I have come across in quite some time, and I am happy you are writing them with the Roland samples in mind. Maybe its nostalgia, but the old Sound Canvas cards and modules will always have a special place in my heart and loading up my sf2 with your songs tells me that the time spent working on it was well worth it.
Great! Now I can listen to these bangers without the constant sound of Cyberdemon hooves.
They're backup percussion
Did you by any chance catch what the percussion is doing at 16:59? ;)
@@JamesPaddockMusic lol I did. Can't even escape them while just listening to the midi.
As happened with Sigil 1, playing Doom Sigil 2 with your beautiful soundtrack, I felt the same emotions as the first Doom, 30 years ago. Thank you
Exactly what I wanna hear. ;)
Just like the first SIGIL, you have outdone yourself.
i love how in the e6m9 song you can hear the drums from the doom 2 intermission. or maybe im just going insane but im pretty sure those are the doom 2 drums
Good spot. :)
We makin it out the E1M8 death exit room with this one! You smashed it once again Jimmy, amazing tunes
Must be amazing to be working with a great legend like Romero!

Marvellous midi magic as always. Cathedral Rock intro Slayer's South of Heaven inspired?
A lil bit, yeah. :)
@@JamesPaddockMusicI’ll be honest, I thought it was inspired by Cast Down.
I was riding my bike today listening to this video and I just felt like the coolest guy in the world, thank you very much john romero, u did it again u son of a gun
Sleep of reason, Cathedral rock, Fractures, Hexaphobia are my favorites....very well done as usual Jimmy. ☆☆☆☆☆
E6M7 and E6M9 rocks too hard that I can't stop listening them. You rock Jimmy !! Godly work done !
Cant stop listening to E6M9, its so good. Phenomenal work all around!
it's like the perfect son between rise of the triad and doom
Hexaphobia is absolutely amazing. Hell, the whole album is amazing! Some of the best MIDI I've ever heard!
Wow man. AWESOME Music. There's a several tracks I love but the last one... uhhh! FIRE
I love those mid 80's early 90's Thrash era style.
I finished playing Sigil 2 yesterday and honestly your music made the entire experience so much better. Also I do like how "Walls of the Minotaur" syncs up with the CyberDemon's footsteps a bit
Great work !
My favorite is Sleep of Reason (E6M2) so good
Love the sombreness of e6m2
This whole thing is amazing but Cathedral Rock is a fucking banger. Thank you, sir!
Can't stop listening to Nightmare Overture! The part 2:36 - 2:51 got stuck in my head for 3 days.
21:25 had to stop for a while for the midi headbang (mouse included), proper stuff good sir.
Another set of clean bangers!
Fantastic work!
E6M5 is phenomenal.
E6M3 is a straight up banger. Nice job 👍
Hell yeah the second time a DOOM soundtrack has done a South of Heaven rip
this is sooo awesome!! it should be in Spotify!!
Absolute bangers all around, well done
Sleep of Reason would have been amazing for Duke Nukem 3D's Lunar Apocalypse episode. It also has Map05 song vibes from classic D2.
I have yet to try the new Sigil, but the ost is awesome! I can't even single out something specific, it just rocks as a whole.
E6M9 keeps reminding me of good old Rise of the Triad. [sheds a nostalgic tear]
came here from That Trav Guy and instantly gravitated towards Sleep of reason, it's sooo good... i think it would make a good banger.
Kickass soundtrack man! I haven’t played Sigil II yet, but I’m so looking forward to hearing these in-game. I’ve already played The Impenetrable Dark like three times over now. It makes me think of Star Wars: Dark Forces and ‘Mist Ache’ from ROTT at the same time
Loved hearing these bangers on the new levels! Are there any plans to release individual videos for each track?
Nah, I think just this one video suffices.
You can hear the songs on repeat if you grab the album off of Bandcamp, though!
How did Hexaphobia come to life so to speak? I get really heavy (no puns intended) Dio/Tony Martin era Black Sabbath vibes from it.
The grooves in Hexaphobia just hits perfectly. Absolute banger.
I listened to a bit of Soundgarden for inspiration. :) The triplet sections in particular came from "Somewhere" off of Badmotorfinger.
You've knocked it out of the park yet again.
I hope to dear christ Romero brings you back for Hellion. I don't know how you do it but you somehow have a perfect sense for what a map 1 track should sound like. I know it was for the previous SIGIL but Hate Machine is one of my favourite Doom tracks.
I hope Hellion uses doom 2 enemies
Cathedral rock sounds like the remix of an unused doom song
Great callback
Great work as expected from you
Amazing!!
Absolutely fantastic
I'd be checking out Sigil II pretty soon and listening to these soundtracks
Any chance we can also get all these songs individually, not in one big video? just asking, still love all this music even if I had my issues with the maps. Wasn't that tragic tho. With this music in the background, you just get such a 90s / 2000s vibe
The tracks are uploaded separately on my Bandcamp, if that helps?

Damn!
What a great OST, man! Truly awesome to hear when killing demons
Geez! Nightmare Overture is underrated! Easily my favorite metal song... as someone who only listens to game OSTs
Very nice soundtrack, a huge addition to the wad…
"Sleep of reason" sounds similar to Unreal 1 ost 😊
Is it me or does walls of the Minotaur give me Shawn’s got the shotgun vibes?
Edit: the part with the bells in the background on Cathedral Rock is too good🔥🔥🔥
Romero's big mistake was to include the BETTER soundtracks for Sigil and Sigil II in the free versions, lol.
Stellar soundtrack! Any plans to release them as *individual videos,* like with Sigil 1's OST? I would like to have the option to have the OST on Shuffle Mode and maybe even download them for offline listening. :)

FUCK YEAH BABY
Sound more like a Duke 3D sound track at times.
Mi favorita es E6M5
Только ваша музыка и вытягивает Sigil 2
Original soundfont is bad
Shush

E6M6 is actually badass, that intro melts me every time! Could we can collab sometime? I've always wanted to use DOOMs soundscape!
Good job, dude!
Nooooice!
