For example many of the IDW and Boom characters mentioned in Frontiers are in english script exclusive dialogs. (EDIT: It turns out that characters like Tangle are mentioned in Frontiers Japanese dub, just Sticks isn't. I guess there is greater synergy between the American Japanese scripts than I thought. Either way, it's still cool and if you had told me 5 years ago that comic characters would become canon in the Sonic Team made games, I would have not believed you. Good stuff. Glad to be wrong.) 6:14 I’m pretty sure this isn’t a retcon. The alien blood reveal in Shadow The Hedgehog would still be something he didn’t know about due to his amnesia. That said, it’s still fascinating to know that SA2 Shadow was aware of his alien blood the whole time. It makes for this nice moment between him and Maria. It’s also nice to know the Gun Commander’s name is Abe.
I don't think SA2 Shadow would have known/remembered where his origins came from, as Gerald tampered with Shadow's memory at the last stages of Shadow's development with only a revenge driven narrative in his mind/memories in the Prison Island, after Maria was killed. And towards the end of SA2 he only really remembered Maria's promise, rather than his own origins before he fell back to Earth 😔

If anything I'd say Gerald wanted Shadow to focus on the goal of revenge only, without having anything else change his mind, which if he started to get glimpses of the Black Arms and how he was created, would have made him start questioning who he was, what he was doing, why he was doing it and eventually make him more hesitant. Of course this happened regardless because his memory with Maria started to come back, but this of course is what I think (^^)

The gun commander form shadow the hedgehog was a nice surprise. Seeing the mech that says the line “you know what they say the more the merrier” was great especially and when Omega called dibs on it was funny.

Usually in voice acting you try to silence the breaths, but when Maria speaks you can explicitly hear her having to breathe in between each sentence because she's struggling to speak She's genuinely exerting so much effort just to talk to shadow omg I'm gonna cry It's such a small detail but it goes such a long way to selling her character

It makes it make more sense that he’s not that social because he’s a bit ashamed that he was made with Black Doom’s DNA and he despises Black Boom and feels “othered” but as Maria said he will and has found people that he does trust and have some bond with being Rouge and Omega. I also like that Maria is finally getting more characterization as well. We always knew she was a sweet girl but man it Shadow really lost not only his only friend but a beautiful soul.

I'd love a new full-fledged 2-D animated Sonic show, but I think the reason why we haven't gotten a full show with traditional animation for so long is because, from what I understand, 2-D traditional animation tends to take a lot more production time compared to CG. Maybe we'll get one someday since Sega is aware that we like the mini-series that they've been making. However, CG is generally quicker to produce, especially when you take a TV show's budget and deadlines into account. That's why CG is used more often nowadays compared to traditional animation.

Just realised, Black Arms are a hive mind and a biomass. Meaning if that ONE larvae didn't get blown up with the Black Comet... it's going to regenerate into a full sized Black Doom. I think I cracked it fellas.
Then that type of story could happen on its own without Gens. The fact that Shadow Gens is tying in with Sonic Gens almost completely debunks your theory, since they're seemingly using time traveling effects to bring back Black Doom instead.

Loved this episode, once again animation and looks are beautiful, voice acting is great and the characters interactions are so good. Super happy we got more time with Maria. Seeing the Gun commander as a kid again and a returning boss from Shadow the hedgehog game, super cool. Didn’t expect to see another Flashback to Shadow and Maria with Abe that’s the Current GUN Commander that was like a Brother to Maria and despite Shadow After her Passing but it’s unclear if they both let go of the Past and if the Commander will be in Sonic X Shadow, he’ll I love how Rouge and Onega are Protrayed that it will seem that this Prologue will end with Shadow going to the Ark, plus Shadow is more than a Alien Weapon and Maria Knows This, 10 out of 10, Sega are Cooking with these Animations.
Omega calling dibs was just freaking amazing lol. Also a cool little detail I noticed was that the "present day" stuff takes place before Generations. The game before Gens was Colors where Eggman had these kinds of Egg Pawns as his main troops. So seeing them here guarding a base of his, specifically the samurai ones from Aquarium Park, is really cool and makes a lot of sense. Really cool as well to see that giant Egg Breaker mech boss from Shadow 05 make an appearance here. It's not being piloted by Eggman though, looks like he modified it to work autonomously.

My girl Rouge is lookin so good and sounding so clean. Easily my favourite character in Sonic (together with Silver). God I hope she is in the movie or plays a bigger role in upcoming Sonic media. But this animation is so good and also does her character justice. Especially her having the final line, as well as how it is delivered. Oh I am so excited.
This episode was very interesting with the appearance of the commander for GUN as a child here and seeing one of the Black Arms creatures in their disposal. To be honest, I thought Shadow contacted Rouge and Omega for assistance but what she said makes complete sense. Plus, I like the little callback/foreshadow of Sonic Generations when she invited him for Sonic’s birthday party. I concur, how is it that all this happen in a span of a few minutes of footage? Very impressive. 2 down, 1 to go.

I felt the same way as you, I blinked and it was over! Really loved this episode. Only weird thing was Shadow being cruel about the Black Arm creature... Loved the Team Dark interaction especially.
Little detail I like is that since this takes place after Colors the robots are based off the ones that were seen in colors. Eggman has no appearance cuz he's in space with the time eater. Continuity is truly outstanding.

Agreed. It makes it make more sense that he’s not that social because he’s a bit ashamed that he was made with Black Doom’s DNA and he despises Black Boom and feels “othered” but as Maria said he will and has found people that he does trust and have some bond with being Rouge and Omega. I also like that Maria is finally getting more characterization as well. We always knew she was a sweet girl but man it Shadow really lost not only his only friend but a beautiful soul.
I loved Omega here. He got his personality back.

I think this makes the scene in SA2 where Shadow gets pissed when Sonic calls him a "Fake Hedgehog" have more impact because in Shadow's head he was being reminded that he's not different from the Black Arms and Maria telling him that it's not true is probably the only thing that convinces him he's a living being with feelings

I like how when Ian writes Omega, he's able to strike the balance of Omega being an efficient logic-driven war machine and a big sassy metal kid that likes making things go boom. I'd love a new full-fledged 2-D animated Sonic show, but I think the reason why we haven't gotten a full show with traditional animation for so long is because, from what I understand, 2-D traditional animation tends to take a lot more production time compared to CG. Maybe we'll get one someday since Sega is aware that we like the mini-series that they've been making.
However, CG is generally quicker to produce, especially when you take a TV show's budget and deadlines into account. That's why CG is used more often nowadays compared to traditional animation.

(Generally speaking) Shadow has been widely misunderstood since both SA2, Heroes, and Sh05. Adding up to decades (just like with Mewtwo). One, Shadow didn't just have amnesia after SA2, he's had it since awakening in SA2. Secondly, jumping to his own game, even by the end of S05 he literally never recovered his full memories. Ever. People just assumed he did. So... Shadow from 50yrs ago knowing he was created alien DNA is clever writing because he of course didn't have amensia back then, unlike in SA2-S05.

Then that type of story could happen on its own without Gens. The fact that Shadow Gens is tying in with Sonic Gens almost completely debunks your theory, since they're seemingly using time traveling effects to bring back Black Doom instead.

Loved this episode, once again animation and looks are beautiful, voice acting is great and the characters interactions are so good. Super happy we got more time with Maria. Seeing the Gun commander as a kid again and a returning boss from Shadow the hedgehog game, super cool. Do wish the episode was a bit longer and didn’t have an abrupt end, nevertheless still fantastic. 🖤❤️

Didn’t expect to see another Flashback to Shadow and Maria with Abe that’s the Current GUN Commander that was like a Brother to Maria and despite Shadow After her Passing but it’s unclear if they both let go of the Past and if the Commander will be in Sonic X Shadow, he’ll I love how Rouge and Onega are Protrayed that it will seem that this Prologue will end with Shadow going to the Ark, plus Shadow is more than a Alien Weapon and Maria Knows This, 10 out of 10, Sega are Cooking with these Animations.
Omega calling dibs was just freaking amazing lol. Also a cool little detail I noticed was that the "present day" stuff takes place before Generations. The game before Gens was Colors where Eggman had these kinds of Egg Pawns as his main troops. So seeing them here guarding a base of his, specifically the samurai ones from Aquarium Park, is really cool and makes a lot of sense. Really cool as well to see that giant Egg Breaker mech boss from Shadow 05 make an appearance here. It's not being piloted by Eggman though, looks like he modified it to work autonomously.
A Sonic show in this style and tone, I belive that'll be a big win for Sega.

This episode was very interesting with the appearance of the commander for GUN as a child here and seeing one of the Black Arms creatures in their disposal. To be honest, I thought Shadow contacted Rouge and Omega for assistance but what she said makes complete sense. Plus, I like the little callback/foreshadow of Sonic Generations when she invited him for Sonic’s birthday party. I concur, how is it that all this happen in a span of a few minutes of footage? Very impressive.

I felt the same way as you, I blinked and it was over! Really loved this episode. Only weird thing was Shadow being cruel about the Black Arm creature... Loved the Team Dark interaction especially.

Little detail I like is that since this takes place after Colors the robots are based off the ones that were seen in colors. Eggman has no appearance cuz he's in space with the time eater. Continuity is truly outstanding.
