    Summary of the video with a focus on actionable advice & gathered insights
    Macbook Usage
    1. Use your MacBook on a hard, flat surface to prevent overheating and damage to the device.
    2. Do not sleep with your MacBook to prevent crushing it.
    Temperature
    1. Avoid exposing your MacBook to direct sunlight or high temperatures to prevent overheating and damage to the device.
    2. Keep your MacBook in proper conditions, with a recommended temperature range of 10 to 35 degrees Celsius, to maintain its performance and prevent battery damage.
    Macbook Maintenance
    1. Use your MacBook on a surface that does not collect dust to prevent overheating.
    2. Regularly clean the dust from your MacBook to prevent overheating.
    Performance
    1. Overheating can cause damage to the components of the device, such as the CPU, and decrease in performance.
    2. The CPU will lower its maximum frequency when the MacBook is placed on a soft surface and overheats in order to maintain an adequate temperature range. This process is called throttling.

If you take care of your devices, they last indeed much longer! I love old and new tech, my 2012 retina still works perfectly fine with it's original battery, it has a whopping 750 cycles, yet i still have 93 percent of it's designed capacity, getting me through a day of work when i turn the screen brightness down a bit, insane right? It's true that we shouldn't charge any Apple device with cheap chargers. It only affects the machine. Had a battery bulge for my iPhone 7 long back and the reason was this. And from then on I started using either Apple's or Apple certified chargers. Great video. Very helpful! Thank you!

    • @quickdry3
      @quickdry3 2 года назад +7

      the phone doesn't just blindly allow whatever your charger spits out into your phone, it goes through a BMS that regulates the charge rate so it is suitable fior the battery, boosts or limits charge rate based on cell temperature, voltage, etc. Sometimes you just get a really bad cell and it'll prematurely swell or die. Poorly made chargers might die sooner, or have unsafe failure modes eg failing in a way that dumped AC or excessive voltages onto the circuit that goes to the iPhone, but in general, so long as they supply roughly 5V the rest is up to the BMS.

    • @paggi93
      @paggi93 2 года назад

      I can testify that I’ve used super cheap Amazon chargers on my iPhone and iPad for 4 and 6 years respectively with no issue, the battery life on both are going strong and they perform well. I bought spare chargers so there’s always one on my desk, one by my bed and one in the living room to save carrying cables everywhere. If 98% of people will be satisfied with an apple charger, 80-90% will still be absolutely fine with budget versions but there’s definitely a higher chance of issue.

      It’s not supposed to have that piece of paper except for when it is brand new and factory sealed, before any wear and tear or flexing has occurred.
      Once you start to use it you are trying to insert factory packaging into a machine that is slowly adjusting its shape and its fit, and it’s not designed for you to do that at all.

However, if I know I'm going to be doing something intensive, like rendering or gaming, and know that the fans will be running, I never do it in bed, and will always put it on a flat desk surface or at the very least on my lap being mindful not to block the vents.

Therefore, the charger's power supply came with a type A plug (with two flat pins), while here in Brazil, we use type C (two round pins). I'm using a T (an adapter) that I bought at one of those hardware stores. What do you recommend I do? I've already checked on Apple's website to see if they sell the type C plug separately, so I could just plug it in. Filling your SSD is actually ok. It should have some headroom intentionally left from the manufacturer for it to work properly. However, as a general rule you should always have 10-15Gb free on your hard drive to give the OS some "breathing room".
    The USB hub thing isn't true either, and neither are the cables. Unless you're going for the extremely cheap Aliexpress or Wish knock-off you should be okay, your phone and your computer are equipped to deal with small voltage variations and even peaks of electric power.

    Can I just leave my laptop plugged into a charger while I’m using it? Therefore it’s always at 100%. Is this bad for the battery?

    • @poi24b3
      @poi24b3 2 года назад +3

      You can, and no it is not bad for battery. When it reaches 100% the charger would provide power equal to device's operating power, not charging battery, and it wont discharge until you unplug cable

  • @jaredweiman2987

    It doesn't matter what kind of surface the Macbook is on. The fans take in air that is then pushed through the internals. It will pull dust from the air and through your MB. This is how every computer works. Most modern desktops (especially gaming rigs) are set up like cabinets that can be opened and air dusted. Macbooks don't have this, and thus will experience throttling within their lifetimes more often. These are not designed to be end user serviceable. If you have an issue, take it to a store. That comes with the territory of owning an Apple Laptop.

    True, do not use other/3rd party charging adaptor or cables to charge your IPAD, Macbook or Iphones.
    Only use original Apple Charging adaptor and cable.
    Ive use 3rd party charging adaptor (U-Green), charging is very fast, slightly produce heat on my phone if only i use it when i charge with it.
    But my battery health drops to 89% just in 10months (without over-night charging or overcharge it).
    at the other hand, my brother are using the original Apple charging adaptor and cables, his iphone batteries health is still maintain at 96% in 10months (we bought the iphone 13pro same day).
    For my advise, don't use any 3rd party charging adaptor and cables if you really really want your battery to live longer.
    Of course there are many other way to kill your battery, but this is one of it, using 3rd party charger.

    • @battery_wattage

      Yes. I learned the hard way with LiPo batteries. The difference with my experience is puffing batteries. With most electronics it’s longterm wear.

      @HistoryNut-1701 2 года назад +1

      @@battery_wattage I found this out with the Apple Pencil as well. I only ever use it once in a while, and always left it attached to my iPad over the last 3 years, and now I see that it drains very quickly when in use. Don’t store the pencil attached to the iPad. Only attach it when it needs to be charged and set it off to the side when not in use, and even better, unpair it as well…

    • @a1be31s8x9
      @a1be31s8x9 Год назад

      @@HistoryNut-1701 this largely depends on if the device has a battery bypass. While I can't speak to the engineering, I have to assume that MacBooks bypass the battery when plugged in. To say that using your laptop while plugged in is bad for the battery is Very concerning, considering that many people use their laptops as a desktop replacement. Are we to suggest to these people that they should keep unplugging and replugging their MacBook to juggle the battery life between 20 and 80%? All the while, dumping charge cycle after charge cycle onto their battery? That sounds quite a bit more detrimental than just leaving it plugged in.

    • @HistoryNut-1701
      @HistoryNut-1701 Год назад

      @@a1be31s8x9 I agree. MacBooks have a battery protocol built into them that recognizes when they are being used in that fashion and limits the charge to 80% unless you override it. In my case, I use a big iPad Pro with the proprietary keyboard and trackpad as my primary computer, and it does not have that protocol, so I am iffy on whether or not to keep it plugged in all the time, because I do not want to degrade the battery chemistry by keeping it at maximum charge all the time.

But I curious about that too... Also, a lot of friends use D brand carbon skins, that keeps the MacBook aesthetic and helps a lot
