Rusty listening to you videos and still learning. We’ve been to the Villages several times Lifestyles Visits and visiting family that live there. What we have found and it understandable that the newer the development the younger the residents in general. We are in our mid sixties and are looking to pull the trigger next year. We are going down in the spring we have a house rented through Villages Reality
On the Villages GPS app it will show you golf cart trails that other GPS app will not. Some cart trails can cut right through a residential area between houses that can save you a lot of time
Did a lifestyle visit a couple of years ago and was really impressed with how well staff react to your needs. I never felt pressured and I continue to get info from Pete who guided us around when we were there. Still trying to convince my better half that it's a viable 3-4 month spot for us to get away for the winter. Illinois, where we reside, is going in the wrong direction from taxes and expenses so FL is looking better and better.
Yes my interaction with the staff so far has been great...agree. Going down there with eyes wide open. Will be an experience for sure. Thanks for stopping by.
Rusty, Pam and I enjoyed talking to you at Brownwood last evening. Sounds like you're getting out and about, experiencing some of the Villages. It's difficult to get a feel for the Villages in a week, but a least you can get a taste of the place. The villas where you're staying isn't the nicest little neighborhood, and I'm not sure why they put Lifestyle folks there. I guess because it's close to Brownwood, and closer to the area south of the turnpike, where they're pushing the new homes. As I mentioned, the Villages isn't for everyone, but it does offer a lot of options to get out and about if you're in the mood on any given day/evening. Sounds like you're into pickleball and golf, and many folks move here for those activities, but then discover many other activities they enjoy. Anyway, best of luck and looking forward to you assessment after your visit. Say hey to all my old friends in Phili!
Yes thanks for grabbing me to say hi. Yes I keep learning new things each day. I Yes I think I need more then a week to figure it out. Definitely learning more about how important it is for me to get located in the right area. Each has its own personality for sure.

Hello Rusty, New Subscriber. I have owned a home in The Villages for about 4 years. I'm 59 but am not going to retire and live full time down there until 62. When you are down there, I would look in the Recreation News for your Pickleball game. If it has a "name" (ie: Gary's Gherkin's) then it will be a closed group. So, look for something that says Advanced OPEN PLAY. (or whatever level you are at). In the Fenney/Marsh Bend area I would check out the Putt n Play, Pitch n Putt, Edna's on the Green, and the Nature Trail at Fenney. (You'll need a car not a cart to access all this stuff) For off site dining, if you like Ribs and BBQ, check out Oakwood Smokehouse. Have fun, I'm sure you will have a great time.
Hey Paul...thanks for the info. It would be great to find a couple / few games while I'm there. I'll have to see how the levels break down. I'm about 3.5 maybe 4 on a good day. Definitely something to check out.

Already there have been people selling their newer homes (after one year per rules) and moving into the older sections. They feel their in the boonies and the wait for the infrastructure to reach them is not worth the wait. Not looking at preowned homes would be a mistake. I too have a YT channel here in TV.
Rusty I like your post.But you should check with the villages about using content from there website.Other youtube posters have said that they were asked to not use maps and other content from the website. Been here 4 yrs and love it.Came from Media Pa
Hey Jerry...thanks so much for the advice and a good reminder. I did just go back and change out the use of their "logo" on the thumbs and the banner. I meant to do that after I had just made them but time ran out. Used standard text and another green color rather than the logo. Regarding the maps, I was very careful not "use" them but rather just report as to what they are and where they can be found. Also, I just let it play for a few seconds and said where you can find it. I'm driving down on Monday and will be down for a week...hope I miss the new tropical storm....

That’s great. I would stay as long as you can especially if you know you’re going to buy. By the time you get here the southern bridges should be open

Trip was great! Just got back today and have to sort through all the video and try and make something of it. Something coming real soon.
