Hello Rusty , Just a quick follow up . Stayed overnight at the Brownwood Hotel and spent the day at the Villages on Monday and it was alot of fun (def not enough time) . Rented a golf cart and explored the area and met some very nice people , did some shopping and went to a square for the music. Reading about The Villages or watching RUclips videos doesn't do it justice you need to see it in person. Will probably do a lifestyle visit in the coming months to get a real feel. The GPS app was a huge help with the golf cart paths but boy those rentals are bare bones and not breaking any speed records , i was getting passed all the time. Had a great time and looking forward to coming back . Thanks for all the helpful info.

These videos are great. For me since I’m not really into golf and swimming which are major activities and I’d be buying a smaller house for more money than my current larger house it just seems a bad idea for me to even think of the Villages. But i say go for it for those who want to be there and wish them well.

Very nice video. I checked with USAA for golf cart insurance - its part of a homeowners Insurance policy. Because I will be renting in the Villages I cannot get it. Once I move to the villages I can get it. BTW if you are renting next winter - 2022 - and want a golf cart - the Villages golf carts are all reserved. How about a video on options to rent in the Villages? websites etc
You may want to check again... Check under rental and then check under non owned vehicle. I am not an insurance agent but just giving you an area to chek. Rusty, thanks so much for sharing information on getting around in a golf cart. I moved here just twelve days ago from Illinois and will pick up my golf cart in a few days. I'm new to driving a golf cart, and your video gave me some great tips on getting around. I was really happy to learn about the Village GPS app. I need the voice to tell me the directions! @@RustyNelson I bought a gas cart. An electric cart is quieter but a gas cart offers more convenience, I bought a 2017 reconditioned golf cart. It was like buying something brand new since I got to choose the color, the valence, the seat and the tires, Then I added LED side lights and USB port. It was really a fun experience! The cart should be ready this week, and the GPS app definitely will give me more confidence in finding my way around.
@@lindamcdaniels4893 The GPS app was good for the cart. Interested to see what you think about the car. I always had problems with the car part...Golf cart side of the app was great.
@@RustyNelson I didn't realize the app had directions by car. I've been depending on Google maps to help me find my way, but I've still made wrong turns. Right now I'm happy that I know how to get to the grocery store, Lowe's, and Walgreens! Looking forward to getting the cart and using the app for directions.
Nice that the pay one...6.99 also has voice directions so you don't have to be looking at the app all the time.

I use the velcro in my truck and it works great. Just slap it up there. But that suction cup in the links work but the window seems to shake a bunch so something to think about.

Great video! What I've learned about golf carts in the Villages: you probably will get lost at least once; someone or multiple people will be more than glad to help you on the way; drive defensively as some drivers are speed demons and have disabled the governor that is supposed to limit speed to 20 mph; its the most fun I've had in years!
All true I think. I stopped for about 2 minutes and two people stopped to see if I was OK. Left a good feeling.

Yes not to sure about the serve though. there are too many people that play that will have a hard time with undercutting the drop serve.
Hey Rusty hope you are doing better from your bout with Covid. I noticed in some of the videos from your visit like when you were with Skip and when you were in the town square noticed you were not wearing mask you think you then caught it while in the villages? Also what is funny everytime I watch your videos or Skips of the Newcomers I get video commercials for the Shenandoah Valley Retirement community just about every time. They are trolling the Villages Videos
No idea where I got it. seems by timing it was on the way home. But no way to tell. The mask thing seems to be a personal thing for everybody I think. When I did the video we had lunch together and you very well could not eat and have a mask. Now sometime later people seem to be using them more. Strange thing was when I stopped at the truck to and from FL I was just about the only person with a mask on.
The Villages is basically Trump central, being that it’s full of aging boomers. I like the idea of the amenities The Villages offers, but in the end, I don’t think I’d fit in with the people that live there.
I had no idea till I went down there for a week. Tell you the truth there was not much politics discussed and I'm definitely social. If you are not a baby boomer you are correct. But that's the retirement age anyway? 1944 to 1964 if you are young it might be a little old for you.

I would choose the place you want to live. THen worry about pickle. plenty of game in either place. Maybe more high end tournaments in Naples if you are 5.o
Over 200 courts in TV. All levels but I hear Naples has lots of advanced play.

I will be wanting to rent a golf cart for the day to check things out and look around as much as possible . Is this something that i have to set up ahead of time at one of the Villages golf cart stores or can i just walk in and rent one and drive off with it for the day ? Any info would be helpful . If you rent a place in the village do you have access to all the amenities that full timers do?

Sorry to hear about that. The reason I would not tell anybody about that is I'm talking about Golf Carts. Not sure how that fits in and not something I experienced...fortunately. Also I don't know if that is true...it was not part of my visit. With that said I guess you are better off then CA as they are limited to 250K.
Great video. Tired of the snow in Philadelphia. Hope you are recovered fully from the COVID. Do you think you got it down there, on the way or on the way home? Kinda surprised nobody in The Villages on your lifestyle visit seemed to wear masks.
For the most part people were going by local rules. The great thing is you are free to not go if you don't like an area. When I went down the rate for FL was at about 7% and PA where I came from was 11%. Outside of the squares people wore masks as most of the areas I've traveled to at the time. Covid was like a bad cold. all done with it thanks. Lasted about a week. Rather have that then the normal flu that I had that's for sure.
where else did you consider before interest at TV’s?
I’m still looking at other places around the country. But I’m really there for the activities and what the complex has the offer. And there does not seem to be any other choices that I have found. Happy to go investigate other places

Never get a street legal cart. Just trust me. They should have never allowed that to happen. People think its cute, but what the villages don't tell you, cart deaths, yeah it happens.

Sort of sure they are all gas for the lifestyle. but I'm sure you can rent electric if you needed to for some reason. Gas has a great range and I hardly used any the week I was there.
Gas and electric golf cars are available for purchase. I prefer gas given the size of our community but the electric car batteries are expanding in mileage before needing a charge. Gasoline is readily available all over the community but no charging stations for electric cars.
That seems to be a popular choice from what I could tell.

GPS is just a one time thing...you own it. Worked great for me...On the cart paths. Not so on the road though. Kept stopping.
