The Legacy definitely makes a better Quake. But the old one makes for a nice generic Decepticon body, so you can just grab one of those spare Titan Masters and stick it on there instead (provided the colors don't clash too much) and make him some random blorbo.
Good idea! I call those fodderformers, for cannon fodder, since they make for great background characters, dead characters, or characters that get stabbed or shot or something.
Same. Yeah ago, Quake, Trigger Happry, Krok and Twinferno were drit cheap in a bargin store but can only afford one. I went with Trigger Happy! While I loved him to bits but I regret not getting Quake. Not saying I should of picked him instead, wish I had more cash on me on that day cos a week later, they were all gone!
I love Legacy Quake’s head sculpt too. It’s fantastic. Something about these modernized, late G1 head designs are just hitting different. I also like the undertaking Targetmaster setup, though I leave his hands out and attach the Targetmaster to the port under the arm by the elbow.
That Powermaster Optimus in the ad break is one of my favorites, though I don't have that back section. I was just really blown away by them being able to contain the entire trailer in the bot itself. Interested to see you talk about it
I'm kind of shocked by his Legacy figure. Back when it came out, I thought the Impactor mold would be a shoe-in remold. It had the better tank mode and the Transformation on that mold works similar to his G1 toy. Have to wonder if they had always planned to make Quake while designing Skullgrin
Titans return quake was one of my first transformers but still was before I was actually collecting them. So I really want this guy just to own a quake again.
i like legacy quake but his tank mode looks like that tonk meme where it's just a turret on tracks if it had a hull that separated the tracks from each other and cleaned up the top a bit it'd look way better
Got Quake preordered for January. Definitely an all around improvement from the Skullgrin mold. I like that all the rubbery bits are removed this time around, and the retooling makes him look like a whole different figure rather than just giving him a different head. While I knew about the updated Powermaster Prime had no idea they updated Godbomber for that mold as well. Looks like a pretty epic package.
I picked this guy up last night at Walmart. I really enjoyed going through the transformation on him. I love how solid his gun brick mode is. Add in his gun bros and I think it's a great little figure!!
I love the tiny ass tank Legacy Quake turns into. I get why people don’t like it but man it looks oddly adorable If I get one I’m displaying it in tank mode
Hardhead was actually one of my favorite toys from TR, and the darker colors on theQuake repaint are reallt nice. I never did pick one up, th0ough, so the new Quake is on my "watch for clearance sales" list. His altmode makes a lot more sense as a tracked APC or command vehicle than a tank, though - akk that relatively high headroom hull volume, and a dinky turret slapped on the top to give it some defensive ability when things go wrong and it's exposed to other armored cav or croung attack aircraft. Not exactly fitting for Quake as a frontlione grunt type, but eh, that's what the Core Class seekers and Infernac rock bike army builders are for.
Great review That Toy Guy!!! I honestly enjoy both versions of Quake, I just hope Amazon hurry's up and releases him already. lol Keep on being amazing.
i sold my hardhead since im cutting down on nos essential autobots so im keeping quake because i like the mold and the shoulder cannon i even found some target master for him from siege
the one thing I'll say about the Powermaster Optimus figure is that Powermaster Optimus would've been perfect for the potp leader Optimus as a retool. same transformation, same combination gimmick, same truck cab on back, Orion could've easily been retooled into a mini Optimus, and the trailer itself wouldve only needed mild retooling. If I was a 3d designer, I'd model the toys and retool them myself
Great comparison! Both Quakes have their charm, but I’m leaning towards the Legacy version for its sleek design and articulation. Which one do you prefer?
Sort of a shame Chasm (Quake's Titan Master) didn't get more attention here; I painted his face red to loosely resemble Heater (the black and blue Targetmaster)
Legacy made about the best tank you can get out of the Skullgrin mold. I'm still keeping my TR Quake, the limbs look especially fitting despite being a retool, and I also have his G1 Targetmasters, which are coincidentally the same scale as the TR headmasters. And since TR Quake's turret is both detachable and has a 5mm port, TR can emulate the G1 toy's functionality down to the gun combinations
I think both belong in a generations collection. The Titans Return is now a IDW 2.0 version of the character so just throw him on that shelf if you have one!
I like the colors on Titans return a lot. somewhat frustrated we STILL haven't gotten sureshot but we now have gotten 2 of quake. honestly worried we'll never see sureshot. much less the other two autobot target masters.
One thing your video makes me happy about: His colors. like 95% of them on his offical product shots look too bright. I still wish has was about 20% darker, closer to the TR colors, but at least he's not in primary colors like I feared. i wonder if his turret is replaceable? If so maybe a 3P kit can fix the tank mode some. Though I'm still a bit disappointed he didn't get his own mold, since Needlenose and Spinister did.
To me the alt mode looks more like self-propelled artillery than a tank, because some have the gigantic boxy turret. I think it's more fitting of the name too. I'd like to mod a bigger gun for mine and have him be my Decepticons' heavy artillery.
I really like the Legacy figure but Titan's Return Quake is my preferred. I like the esthetics more on the TR. And the Alt mode is better as well. Legacy is built better and has better engineering but i still prefer the Titans Return. At least Legacy Quake isn't just a chocolate bar like Skullgrin.
I actually really liked TR Quake. The alt-mode referenced his design in the 3H comics and it's a solid little toy. I gave him the axe from one of the Combiner Wars Protectobots so he had double weapons and to fit him being a berserker. The new one's robot mode is G1 accurate but the G1 design was actually kind of boring, and alt-mode is just lazy with the arms.
Legacy United Quake definitely has a better robot mode than the Titans Return version, but I just can't get over how bad that tank mode looks. Everything above the treds is a complete mess.
I really like new Quake. Robot mode is great and really fun to mess with. Yes, tank mode is rough, to say the least, but i enjoy how boxy he is, and it is passing the squint test for me personally, so i don't mind it. Also, it's kinda subjective and acquired taste, but i like how messiness of the Quake altmode is kinda fitting with the rest of Double Target Masters Decepticons. Like Needlenose altmode is just jet with robot, doing extreme yoga pose under it, but it's still great toy. Even Spinister, arguably the best one of the batch, still had some weirdness in his copter mode, like exposed hands, or whole second cockpit underneath. So Quake, not quite pulling off the tank mode is strangely fitting with the rest of the gang, and i kinda like it.
Overall, I really like the look of Legacy Quake especially in robot mode. The tank mode does look a little disproportionate, but I'm willing to overlook it just because he still looks like a fun figure. ...And I just like tank transformers in general.
It’s neat that thy could retool skull grim into quake BUT quake would’ve benefited from a new mold all together and a benefit to that’s is we get a new deluxe tank we can repaint into more deluxe tanks. TR is more stylized and the shoulder cannon does look cool while the legacy has good posing and the tank is a lil messy
Legacy Quake really does justice to one of the most forgettable moulds of the trilogy. (Seriously, I got Skullgrin on clearance from Hasbro Pulse nearly 2 years after his release) I could see the Skullgrin mould had some good qualities, but I'm seeing them really shine brighter here. Tank mode may not be the greatest, but it still looks leagues better to me than whatever the hell Skullgrin turned into. Good review, and I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say about that Powermaster Optimus Prime.
I dunno if its your lighting, but Leg Quake looks a lot better than the initial reveals. For some reason the earlier pictures made him look more saturated and tomato red.
Legacy Quake would've been perfect if the tank threads wrapped around its arms and body. It would've been flatter, but it would've looked more like a tank. 3rd party add ons makers, get to work.
Sooo...in other words, New Quake is a better action figure.Buuut the old fig is a better "transformer" figure, even if he is just a Hardhead repaint. Or as I like to call it, Legacy Blitzwing 2.0.
Man, I was apprehensive about this figure when it was revealed, but oh man is the Legacy one awful. Super happy i have the TR one, all i gotta do is make him some actually good targetmasters and he'll be perfect.
Imo titans return quake blows this out of the water. Better robot mode, and alt mode. Plus the totally awesome shoulder cannon. The only thing the legacy does better is the foot tilt
The Legacy definitely makes a better Quake. But the old one makes for a nice generic Decepticon body, so you can just grab one of those spare Titan Masters and stick it on there instead (provided the colors don't clash too much) and make him some random blorbo.
Agreed

Go for it, it's a much better figure than the Legacy one by leaps and bounds.
8:10 if you think about it, Quake looks like a british WWI tank.
He's not a tank, he's a TONK
Would that TONK be considered STRONK?
1:05 I was watching this on my iPad at dinner and my wife said that looks like a “Full Metal Dildo of Pain” 😂😂
It’s a nice comparison as to how the Generations style and aesthetic has changed since TR
I love Legacy Quake’s head sculpt too. It’s fantastic. Something about these modernized, late G1 head designs are just hitting different.
I also like the undertaking Targetmaster setup, though I leave his hands out and attach the Targetmaster to the port under the arm by the elbow.
I'm a sucker for the Titans Return line. The head gimmick is dumb, but I love it.
Twinferno is my favorite from the line.
That Powermaster Optimus in the ad break is one of my favorites, though I don't have that back section. I was just really blown away by them being able to contain the entire trailer in the bot itself. Interested to see you talk about it
Well, it IS a remold of CW Ultra Magnus.

i like legacy quake but his tank mode looks like that tonk meme where it's just a turret on tracks

Yeah, you pretty much nailed my thoughts on these two.
It’s an antiaircraft tank… I guess…
Quake reminds me of SS ROTB Optimus where this was acomplished on a retool budged.
Quakes probably my favorite character. It’s a shame they didn’t try and make his alt mode look closer to the original toy, which was a leopard 2 tank.
