- Hey everyone! Josh here with Magix Vegas Pro 16 fix! I'll be showing you how to fix stutter, skipping, lagging, and crashing while trying to render in XAVC/AVC video format. Fixing this will stop it from endlessly rendering and never completing! This also working in Vegas Pro 14 and Vegas Pro 15!

Ayyyyyyy this helped my preview lag. Would lag out and freeze whenever I would jump around in the clip while its playing. Now its way better, thanks dude.

For anyone who is still struggling with freezes during rendering and nothing works:
Don't render on background (don't minimalize Vegas during rendering)! Vegas tenders to stuck when it's minimalized. I guess that's cause that system will then provide less resources to it. So be sure to always render the whole video with Vegas window maximilized and active in front! You can work on the computer during rendering or even watch movies - if you will have vegas window maximilized and not on background (on second monitor e.g.) render should not freeze. Hope that it helps to someone. It was mine problem and this 100% works.
I have Vegas 14 Pro but I don’t get any so4 options even after following your exact instructions. Any tips?
Pretty odd it's not showing up. MAGIX put this in all of their versions. Maybe you have an old build of V14 and should try updating?
using VP18 and they changed the settings around for the So4 Compound Reader from True or False to numerical values. If anyone else is using Vegas 18 then the numerical values for it are 0, 1, or 2.
0 = OFF (no blacklisting of files)
1 = ON (blacklisting of certain files, as listed in so4_blacklist_vp15.xml: these are currently AVC files produced by certain DJI, GoPro and Xiamoi Yi cameras)
2 = AUTO (this is the default value, where blacklisting is disabled when a hardware decoder is detected on the system)
numerical values were originally posted by a user on vegas forums.
I'm in VP18 and can't find the "internal" tab.

I have Pro 15 and this is happening with my MP4 format video. It froze several times on the editing and then when finally done (2 hr video) it froze mid render at different points each try (58% was highest it made it). I really don't wanna lose all my hard work. Any ideas to fix? I have a good PC with tons of RAM.

Awe hell, looks like it worked. I wonder if the program will stop freezing in general now.
After I render my video, when I watch it back in the rendered video it looks really slow any fixes?
Usually that means you need a better video player. I recommend Media Player Classic. But if it's still choppy than you may have rendered with too high of a bit rate.

How to do the same thing with vegas pro "18" ?
The "enable So4 compound reader...." item does NOT appear in the: internal > preference menu

Both cracked and free as far as I'm aware.
@@ScrapyardFilms im planning to buy vegas but it seems base on the feed back from users of paid version it also crashes often like the cracked one.

Hey Josh, just gotta tell you, i did this fix the first time and it was perfect, i could render to my MTS 5.1 file finally.. Then well after 2 updates to my Sony Vegas 16 it went back to all true, so i am coming back to this video again, watched it and rendered it and it got past the 41 percent done mark finally and completed....wow thanks again, you are a life saver, now how bout another video question.....how come when i use my lightening on boris continuum or hit film light saber, the tracking keys never work when i render the video, they are all off when i watch it...the source and the destination dont render where i wanted it to go.....Thanks, Josh
Hmm. You may have to make sure your video preview quality is set to "Best (Full)". But I'm also assuming your using the Ignite FX light saber plugin which should be accurate in itself. Maybe try making a new project and inserting some test footage with no effects at all and try testing out the light saber key framing and see if it tracks well not could be you have a ton of effects on you footage and then adding the light saber is pushing it over the edge on accuracy. Personally if I'm editing something that's going to be VERY heavy on FX, I break it up into parts and render them individually

Ya know what? I scoffed at this vid before cause i thought it was just gonna be another random fix that wouldn't work for me. But ya know what? It did. So i tip my hat to you.
Holy frick, its working. It was getting stuck at 28% and now it's at 43%. I'll update when it's done.

I've read it elsewhere and it is APPARENTLY working for me: disabling GPU acceleration when rendering. My video didn't get past a certain point when rendering even at low quality and doing it helped me at least get a preliminary version of it (the final cut is yet to be seen). The link that I read even said that you might try setting that Preview Dynamic Ram to 0 when rendering (I've not tried that yet, though).
I changed from a 3060 to a 3080 and Vegas was just like "Nope" after.. Thanks for the Solution! and the guy below with the VP18 Instructions. :)

oh god thank you so much, my file had an insane amount of gameplay cuts and it would constantly freeze, BUT ITS FIXED NOW I AM A HAPPY MAN!!!!!!!
Nothing is working and I have literally tried rendering my video for the 6th time in a row and it has been frozen. I have watched 10 different videos and absolutely nothing is working. I am debating on scrapping Vegas altogether and just buying another video editing software instead.
The render box dosent even show up like where I choose my quality and stuff when I click render as it just has a loading thing on my coursor and then it closes

Does this work in Vegas 13? I do not seem to have an internal tab.
A year late, but to anyone else using 13, I can get to the internal tab with SHIFT and preferences, but there's no So4 in internal to change, so not working for me either.
Is it still able to render 1440p60fps?
I had a problem when it got stuck everytime at 70%. It was a error in one of the clips so I deleated it. But now I am able to render whole video but when Vegas sais 100% render and I wanna se my video, it only shows me that the video has 1kb and isn't able to play😣 Any advice?

I have Vegas 16 Pro (legit) and I don't have that "internal" tab in the settings, what am I missing here?!
As he mentioned: You need to hold SHIFT before selecting "Preferences". You can let go of the button, when you are in the preferences tab. Then you should see Internal.

If you're using VEGAS Pro 13 and below then this whole video wouldn't apply to you. There is some other reason your PC is crashing unfortunately.

If these settings don't work, the best part is you can always flip them back. It's not permanent.

Which version of VEGAS do you own? I believe the so4 optoin only comes up for VEGAS 14 and higher

Dang. It works for most people and this usually means there's something deeper wrong with your install of Vegas for it to keep crashing.
wait in result thats normal usually problem of every montage program , crashing cause of low count ram or too big rendering so i splitted it on 2 parts , 2 videos and then again rendered and it works :D well , sorry for not thinking , and thanks for help in better rendering
Oh I'm glad it ended up working! I understand the struggle of my old editing PC. Once i upgraded, problems vanished.

yup , i noticed and reminded only strong pc like Intel core i7 can handle so much rendering at once , well , if you have poorer (or graphic card or also ram ) then just eg. 40 min of video cut on 2 parts or even 3 if still it does , and a bit cut shorter then just render it as seperated few videos (it depend did you cut it on 2 or 3) render first half and DO NOT DELETE ORIGINAL , cause of you must then again get original and check in which moment you did cut and same thing do in second half and then you have 2 parts (2 videos) and then again get to vegas put those 2 parts like you wish connect/mix etc this to get 1 full video , and its done , original you can now delete or whatever and thats it
