Grandpa nothing! My Dad had one of these beautiful coupes. Was way ahead of its time. Excellent 4.6L 32V V8 mod motor. I borrowed it every chance i could in my 20s! 💯

Something I’ve always appreciated about Stay Tuned is that y’all manage to always show the parts of the process that I’m most interested in seeing. Super engaging, entertaining always, and informative my nature. Show AND tell, with a continuous flow of tips and tricks that’ll save the a** of anyone hoping to replicate the process.
I genuinely love this build up. It sucks that its been two steps forward and three backwards with it grenading engines but its worth it!!

as a SAAB guy, i love the explanation of boost control...something SAAB was doing in 1985 based on knock sensors. By the mid nineties SAAB cars were sensing knock through the electrical resistance in the air between the the spark plug ground and electrode. 20 years later Audis still have knock sensors. Find yourselves a mid to late nineties SAAB 9000 and get in touch with MikeD. You can make 500hp with those b234 engines without pulling the oil pan or valve cover. The transmissions are glass, but they make adapter plates.
Can confirm all of this. Gearboxes become service items over 300hp, less if you’re not gentle enough with the boost down low. I miss my HX40 fed 9000 Aero, with the old trionic suite soldered pin out/bdm setup. Good times
Yeah but 500 hp fwd cars are dumb. Especially when the engine is in there backwards.

@@jasonbirch1182 I think he meant to swap the engine into an rwd application. Also B234 (or B204) engines are oriented as normal fwd cars.
It's insane that the driveshaft is ABOVE the gas tank lol, if that sucker blows that'll be exciting.

I’ve had 3 of these Lincoln’s. I love them. The interior is timeless.
I happen to love Ford/Lincoln interiors of the mid-late 90s, but a lot of people don't. Had a loaded 97 Taurus and it was nice before it fell apart. Sucks they're all long gone in the rust belt here.

Awesome! You can run 99-01 Cobra exhaust manifolds on the older B head stuff. Makes for a decent and cheap upgrade, and gets rid of that Basket Case drivers side manifold that Lincoln put on. Also, what did you do about the IMRC's? If they're still in place, or just zip tied open, it will cause some nasty restriction under boost.

im building my cobra 4v and can only say, these things are wild on the dyno. every time ive had mine tuned im surprised by how wild they sound. epic build, love the 4v

That's what I love about it....first engine had absolutely zero chance of surviving that first pass, but the man tried anyway. If it actually lived long enough to set a time he would have been the hero for even just a few moments, that's what we all want to feel...it's not always a 7 second pass that will give you that feeling 😅

Hell yeah 515 in a street cruiser is perfect. Hope this gives you faith in the fords now. Injectors and a revised hot side it will make 6xx easily.

It won't surprise me in the slightest if it picks up 100+rwhp with an efficient crossover pipe. The one they have is stunningly inefficient.
@@Rollin8.0I agree. I tried pretty hard on my first turbo set up to make it flow well just to put way too small of a turbo on it lol (357w with an s366) Only made 480 at 7psi but good for 11.20s at 3800ish lbs

Tony,you can use a small 12v AG pump from a farm supply store and force feed the motor to prelube it and also watch for pressure through the holley or the dash oil pressure gauge,I have done it on a stand with LS stuff and it works great and they can generate plenty of PSI plus they are pretty cheap just and FYI
Can also modify a small BBQ propane tank . Pull the tap and fill it with oil, screw a tyre valve fitting into the bleed port and charge it up. Blast into the oil pressure sender port.
Can someone please send them a couple of mario and Luigi out fits from plumbing to turbos they do it all 😅

Fords are HARD to work on. Everything is pinched and incredibly tight. And yes, you need eyeballs on the end of your fingertips, because it's the only way your gonna see that bermuda triangle bolt, stuck in up in never-never land. Hats off to the guys that DO make HP!!.
Better exhaust routing, more injector (and maybe fuel pump) and you probably have well over 600hp. But, keep in mind, the Lincoln has the aluminum housing 8.8 which can accept an LSD, but is a bit weaker than the Thunderbird/Cougar iron differentials. Of course the CV axles will break first typically... but if you can find a T-bird SC differential with a factory LSD, a quick gear swap will get you sorted for low $$. Or just build the entire thing. Just beware of the stock 2-piece sleeved driveshaft. That's why they had limiters at 130MPH from the factory, due to driveshaft speed.
And if I remember correctly, a carbon fiber driveshaft is about the only good fix for it, because of the length and space. Can't put a big enough aluminum in there to get a high enough critical speed rating.
I would hope aftermarket cv axles are available by now, but maybe theyve come and gone already. I haven't had an mn12 for about 10 years now.

Tony you really need to intercool this thing.. That should be the next thing that goes into this build
the methanol injection is for cooling the intake charge. I'm thinking that trying to find a place for an intercooler and all the charge air piping under the hood on this car would be just about impossible.
I know you mentioned the exhaust not being efficient but every time this car sees the dyno it makes less power than you expect, maybe its worth considering making some changes
I know, but less than you'd expect but almost as much as a hellcat seems pretty cool.
hell yeah,if it makes 520 wheel with this setup,its insane already.imagine a better setup with some stainless headers and a bigger diameter downpipe/turbo piping.............wonder how much more power it would make???

These were bad ass cars that not many people knew about.
Every time you keep yelling “Double it” I could see the top of the engine explode again. There is a limit to reliability. You guys are a small operation with big ideas and balls and we all appreciate it. But, damn, y’all got to back off a bit. 515 at the wheels and 520 torque is awesome for the grampa machine!!!! And it is still a luxury model…..with cloudy headlights and tailpipes coming out the front quarter panels!!!! Anybody who tries to beat that sleeper is going to regret it…..well, we’ll see how well it performs on the next episode, I guess! You need to be slumped a bit in the driver’s seat with both hands on the wheel, wearing a white hair wig, big horn rimmed glasses, a red farmer flannel shirt, blue jean coveralls and old work boots to complete the look of the sleepy sally!!!! Oh, and one more thing…..a bumper sticker that says “I might be slow, but I am ahead of you!” Go get ‘em!!!!

I love a good sleeper and this build has to be my favorite yet. I have always thought the Mark VIII was a good looking car and it makes a hell of cool sleeper. I am sure Brad didn't mind lounging in that comfy leather interior on the dyno either. It was fun to watch that exhaust tip slowly melt its way into the bumper cover while you made those big HP numbers. I can't wait to see the car hit the streets of PA. Keep up the good work!👍
