To deal with grabs, you have to evade. This is why evade extender is useful and learning how to advancing guard sideways is also important. You can also advancing guard through knockback moves to negate the knockback (yes 21:50). Although you're now using it to gap close more, you're not chaining it. Advancing guard, finishing thrust, directly into another advancing guard, finishing thrust (here 17:05). You can repeat so long as you have enough stamina. Covers a lot of ground when done sideways as well. Also, you can mount with lance from the ground.
The odds of me remembering those buttons split second before getting grabbed is gonna be rare lol, I don't think that fast or have a fast reaction time.
Here's a big tip from a lance lover, having medium knock back lets you cancel the counter into a power guard and afterwards you can punish the monster. That's the reason why guard 3 is often superior to guard 5, for example vs behemoth. And clutch claw counter is recommended more often because tenderizing is very easy with lance
first off, GGs man, huge respect for putting down papa long neck. as for the thoughts on lance, it's like you said, split second decision making, but mostly comes from recognizing tells and knowing which option to go for. you get many tools at your disposal, so you have to experiment on which ones work. its a very safe and aggressive weapon that caters to those who like a defensive/parry play style. its not flashy, true, though its efficient in keeping up the offense. if i were to describe it in other terms, think of longsword or hh as a luchador, high flying, exciting etc, and lance as a brawler, in your face, smash mouth and unapologetic. thats the true beauty of the lance imo.
4:52 for downbreath, you have at least 3 options 1 - powerguard (Pros: safe, you can upward thrust at the end) (Cons: ) 2 - counter thrust the fire (Pros: feels cool, do damage) (Cons: you take damage) 3 - clutch claw onto fatalis (Pros: safe) (Cons: if you miss the button input to go from slinger to clutch claw mode, you will get knockbacked due to your shield being out in slinger mode)
Played lance for well over 1k hunts. 100%ed base world and iceborne. Only monster i have not soloed, save for behemoth/safi/kuth, is alatreon. First fatalos solo felt real good @-@
So just as a future reference even though you've already done the fatalis solo with Lance, if you would like a easier experience in the future, dropping Constitution is entirely viable because guard 5 already brings you to be maximum stamina reduction on blocking attacks, so you could use that for slot for fire resistance which in order to be immune to being set on fire with fireblight, you need 25 fire resistance which if you slot in the skill you should have over that. And then because Lance has stamina consuming things like power guard, it is better to just drink a dash juice. And then if you just want some better overall survivability, I would recommend looking into gold Rathian chest and Waist which gives you divine blessing secret which will reduce the damage you take by 60% 40% of the time. Obviously nothing I say is mandatory because you already got the kill, however it is always nice to be knowledgeable about certain aspects within skill caps and skills that I don't know if you are aware of or not.
This was just to see if I could do it with the Lance or not since I'm new to it. My main worry was the grab in the final phase because I had no clue what to do with that. Same with if I get caught up blocking fire balls.
To me, lance feels more like a boxing match than anything else. You block at the right time and then you counter, and when the monster is wide open you just spam pokes on it. The way it lets you hop does also remind me of a boxing match. That's probably what's cool about it. It's not flashy like other weapons, but the gameplay feels cool. The only problem is that your positioning needs to be top notch because almost all of your attacks are only forward lunges.
Peak lance build, guy who's learned to love lance, plus a bs fight a lot of people like? Count me in! Not to mention Uno posted it so its already peak.
Dash attack (train goes choo choo) is your best friend for staying close to Fatalis if it moves too far away. Abuse that shit, and if you think you're going to get hit, press guard right before.
Congrats, one of my least favorite fights with the lance so good job managing to solo it. Fatalis was a big reason I stopped playing World so props to managing to stick with the lance for so long. Hope you continue using it in the future. Part of the appeal is that the "flash" for lance is the ability to just say "no" to a monster's attacks and lay on a continuous onslought of attacks.
AT Velkhana was always significantly easier to me than Fatalis. Now with the Lance......idk, that might be something for the future but I'm moving on from the Lance
Lance has some VERY strong strengths, and some Equally strong downsides. Unlike other weapons, lance just has monsters that are straight up HARD counters to it, and the amount of work you have to put in to overcome these certain monsters, such as Black veil Val Hazaak BEFORE you get the resistance gem, or Fatalis with the fire balls, is excessive. You need to learn monster patterns, so you can be as aggressive as possible. It's why I love the weapon, because once you put in that work, and once you learn HOW to deal with those hard counters? It can trivialize even the toughest of challenges. >=)
@EizenvKarnos Depends on when or how you are failing the hunt. Knowledge of when Fatalis is doing goes a long way which only comes with time and practice.
I'm failing the hunt in not knowing his hit boxes, not knowing when its safe to heal, unsure what moves are coming out when, I might just watch your fight a few times to see what I need to learn lol, but thanks for the questions I needed to ask myself, I usually learn things by watch other people do them, I mean that's how I became good with terry in smash, information and practice.
Fatalis with lance looks like it requires you to completley re learn the fight, I'm terrible with it so I'm sure this would take me at least 10 hunts haha
@ninoferreira4927 Because I don't find it very fun. I've played it for a while, soloed Fatalis and Alatreon even faster than then Lance but I just don't enjoy it very much. Even using both SEAD, AED, and Savage Axe playstyles, it's just not for me.
@@Uno_Hunter brotha, i have a question without any link with that vid I see that u like the move with the horn were u say "grifted", why do you use that move over a front "triangle+O" or "Y+B" why is it better And as it's rare for me to post comment i don't know if you will answer on another old vid
@ninoferreira4927 Simply because I just think it looks cool lol. I just like having fun during hunts over trying to be as efficient as possible.....unless I'm getting cooked, then I have to lock in a bit.

Would clutch claw counter work? I haven't tried fatalis yet. But Lance is my weapon of choice for unfamiliar fights
@raneundead It can work but can be pretty risky because of how much damage Fatalis does is insanely high and can lead to a cart.

Also once you know the monster very well you can be more agreesive than any other weapon, take advantage of that.

Lance, to me, is what excellent weapon power balance is. It has its great strengths, but its weaknesses, and all don’t feel broken or that unfair.
A majestic 2 minutes to spare.
21:51 I remember telling you about this. This is such a handicap for lance, it's just nuts
Yeah that move is just nasty and you are always pushed so much that you take the next hit. Even worse with Gunlance as you less move options
All of Fatalis' fire ball attacks are very bad to block. Its why it's vital to stay glued to Fatalis practically all the time.
Played lance for well over 1k hunts. 100%ed base world and iceborne. Only monster i have not soloed, save for behemoth/safi/kuth, is alatreon.

Well, that's fantastic. I am currently repelling Crimson Fatalis in order to get his hammer in GU when I saw this.
That Fatalis just vibin' and running the time down got me laughing. I'm sorry, Uno. XD
Props for beating Fatalis with the lance 🙌🏾. I tried fighting Fatalis and Kulve Taroth today and got absolutely blasted 💀
It's times like this i wish i was a member so I can see Uno get cooked.
Woke up free from work today. Time to try Fatalis again 😭😂
makes me remember my first fatalis kill with head full broken because my random team got carried hard by a lance god
every time he does the big boom attack I just block backwards so it takes me to him
also you can block cone flame easily lol
U now have to solo fatalis with mushroom mancer uno
With the HH, I remember.

Being fair, Fatalis is a little crazy.
AT velkhana isn't much easier on lance either. Or Tempered furious rajang
For the moments you were panicking asking what you should have done... you could have charged forward...

Great hunt, well done. Fatalis is a bit of a b*tch to fight with lance. Hats off to you
the "choke" claw
But you were panicking... so you probably forgot
The lack of charges disturb me (nice job btw😊)
The true final challenge for me was AT Velkhana.
AT Velkhana for me was lightyears easier than Fatalis. Though with the Lance idk how it will go but I feel like it wouldn't be fun.
27:45 hopefully clinging to monsters outside of unique weapon interactions never shows up in Wilds
BRO WHAT IS THAT CONE RNG 😂
It's compensation for the following dragonator RNG
Cone attack can be easily baited just by going medium distance between you and fatalis
@@lancechua859 you still need luck for that and uno wasnt baiting them

I wanted to use a "ok" build in case someone sees this video who is also stuck there and knows its possible without being extremely efficient.
