@@tharinduweerasekara5360 There's risky decisions, and then there's just plain baffling ones. The Happening and Lady in the Water are utterly baffling to me, I can see a director making unorthodox decisions to complete their vision, but sometimes Shyamalan's vision seems to be that of a space alien only vaguely familiar with the ways of human beings.
Still a bit conflicting, no? I loved the way the movie was grounded, but the fact that the twist happened begs the question about there being even mutant like people with super abilities in this universe.
ArcticSorbet I think the meaning of it is obviously humans aren’t capable of what’s displayed in the comic books, but they can display some elements of them, that are still explainable within our human boundaries. Even if Bruce Willis can bend steel without his bones breaking you can chalk it up as a strong man. With the split guy, you can say he unlocked certain parts of his brain when he became the beast which in turn unlocked a huge part of his muscles without feeling pain. If there are super heroes in real life, these guys would be them. Mr. Glass is another example, just an insane evil mastermind with an ailment.
With this VISIT to his channel I see the SIGNS that he is just so HAPPENING to be a Fanboy of Shayamalama ding dongs.. In a VILLAGE of bad critics on the internet.. I might as we just watch a channel of a LADY IN THE WATER... 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Dustin Powell that makes some since, but I think if someone is really interested in how a movie is, they should just watch it and see for themselves before seeing any reviews for it. Only reason I watched this review was because I had zero interest, and wanted to see if it would hype me up more for it...
I like how the first act of the film focused on David Dunn, the 2nd act focused on Kevin and him realising what is purpose is, and the 3rd act focused on Glass. Small but nice touch

"My new rating scale will consist entirely of punctuation marks. I'll give "Aquaman" three periods because that's how many times my wife had to change her tampon during the movie."
I think Chris is forgetting some things about Unbreakable during this review. He says that David Dunn doesn't have many lines in Glass, but that is his character in Unbreakable. He barely speaks in that film. He is a very quiet man. Also Chris says that he isn't explored as much as the other characters in Glass. But Unbreakable was Dunn's film, Split is the Beast's film, and Glass is Mr. Glass' film. But David Dunn still has a very powerful arc in Glass. He goes from believing his powers are real, to actually being almost convinced that he is wrong, and everything can be scientifically explained. He then decides to stop the beast anyway, and tries his best, including facing his fear of water, but ultimately he was just a pawn of Glass, like he was in Unbreakable, and he met a tragic end, instead of a noble end that a hero such as himself deserved.
I didn't feel like Glass was Mr Glass' film. I felt like I was watching Split 2 (because McAvoy clearly is front and center)... fucking with Glass. Overall, I found that movie badly written (except everything surrounding Kevin) and not even 100% well-crafted.
Chris, take a vacation with the wife. You look stressed. This comes from a fan that watches your videos & appreciates your enthusiasm/ love for movies. The last few videos seems like you don’t have the luster like you used to. Your fans will ALWAYS love you & support you both ❤️ take care of yourself
The movie is basically about believing in yourself, in your own greatness and that sometimeswe need a little push. The 3 characters served their purpose. The ending was crystal perfect.
@@PoetryKilla ...what letter grade would you give it a B, at least? I'm looking forward to seeing it for the first time later this month when it's released on dvd, still wish Stuckmann reviewed it though!!!
I watched unbreakable and split in the span of 2 days and I have been so hyped. Honestly I don't even care about the negative reception it has gotten, I'm gonna watch
How about changing the grades to something like: See it tonight, See it in the theater, Rent it/wait for streaming, See it if you like this kind of film, Don't bother, Avoid
Please don't do away with grades. It's a great way to emphasize how much you liked or didn't like a movie and is one of my favorite aspects of your reviews
meh, if you need a grade or a number to determine exactly how someone feels about a movie than you aren't paying attention to the rest of the review. grades/scores are outdated and just provide talking points for people to argue in the comments
But jeremy jahns does it better with straight to the point phrases No alcohol required Better if you're drunk Buy on blu ray Dogshit Easy and to the point
@@umphreak9999 I'm not saying I don't care about the rest of the review. What I'm saying is that's a really good summary. There have been times where chris is in the middle and I can't tell exactly what he thinks and the grade helps get his point across
Harley Dirk that’s how I feel as well. I’ve stopped grading films I’ve seen as well. Plus no grade allows people to actually watch the whole review rather than just skipping to a grade with no explanation.
@@SharkAlien66 It's not an objective rating. If Chris gives a movie an A, that doesn't mean everyone else thinks it's an A. It's his subjective rating and is definitely not a flawed concept at all. It is actually a very effective way to differentiate movies based on how good the reviewer thinks they are. Movies that are deserving of higher grades get higher grades and vice versa. For example, Chris likes both Unbreakable and Split, but he gave them different scores. If he didn't use ratings, he wouldn't be able to give more credit to movies that are great, versus movies that are just good, in his "subjective" opinion. It's also easier for the audience to understand how good Chris thinks the movie is. Maybe he criticises a movie a lot but he believes the movie's strengths outweigh its weaknesses. It might be hard for an audience to understand that he might still love the movie, regardless of all the flaws he observed. Either way, whatever direction Chris decides to take his reviews, I'm going to still be here.
@@Razzanonymous I don't quite follow your stance here. He should be able to adequately address the level to which a film affects him within the content of the review. Like in this review, I understand that he see's the film as a mixed bag that probably holds the number three spot in this trilogy. I can also tell that he prefers Signs, without addressing the ratings.
Probably bc he’s busy with life..? He’s not updating that often anymore. I understand him but I can’t say it doesn’t upset me. He used to be one of the reasons why I’m even on RUclips 😔
Please don't take away the grades. The grade have always been a staple of your content and is a good summarization of how you felt about something. Also great review, seeing Glass this weekend and hoping it doesn't disappoint me as much as I am fearing it will.
@@veryswagz I said his review, all of it, was great, I am just suggesting he doesn't take away the grades as they are an small but important part of the review that I appreciate.
Rooseter7080 lol what? How is a letter grade a summary of how he felt? It’s actually quite the opposite. He didn’t put one in this video and he clearly states exactly what he did and didn’t like about the movie, what would a letter do to add anything to what he already explained?
@@veryswagz His grades are awesome! I feel like I've been able to predict his grade 95% accurately of the time based on his review, and I have immense fun doing that! I've never connected more with a reviewer than Chris and that's partly why. I hope they don't go away.
@@Kal-EL_Volta I watch Jeremy's reviews too, but Chris is usually very insightful and he seems like he loooves movies, even bad ones. Not in this review though...
(Spoilers) Yeah, that flashback with him on the ride and breaking his bones really shattered me (pardon the unintentional pun). He just wanted to have fun and be a kid, but he couldn't because of his bones :(
Superman I do not have a mustache really any scenes where he breaks a bone shakes me to the core. It’s just so sudden and painful. I’d say the worst for me was when we first saw him break his legs after falling down the stairs in Unbreakable, it just left me in a defeated and in a sad mood, it really stuck with me and I’m not sure why. It might just be my Samuel L. Jackson bias talking, but I dunno.
People who didnt like this movie saw a script in their head of what they wanted to see. When you look at each ark of this film, the ending makes a lot of sense. It's a bold ending. The idea is that this is a world where people really dont yet believe in the marvels of "superheroes". So they must be forced to see it for themselves. This is a truly great follow up to Unbreakable and Split. Not perfect, but good execution.
If you upload a video of a man taking a dump inevitably you’ll have people arguing about how bold and interesting it is and saying people who find it stupid just don’t understand it
Marnel Garçon movies are subjective if people don’t like it , it’s fine . There are things they like you don’t like either . Nothing to do with what you are thinking . That’s all you
Nope, they just question poor film logic that makes no sense even its its own contained universe and an utter failure of an ending, a baffling choice. Killing the built up elements and just being anticlimactic for another poorly thought out twist, isn't innovative or good writing
The execution of the film is its gravest problem. Nothing presented in the film whether the deaths or twists are bad on paper or conceptually but the way it was handled and executed on screen is what made it dogshit
I dont know what it is, but Stuckmann feels so dead in his videos nowadays. I remember when I subscribed to him back in 2014 and he was really funny and his reviews were great. Am I the only one who feels Stuckmann doesnt feel the same as he used to? Or am I insane?
You're not insane. Ever since he started film school, he's been slowly losing interest in his work, from refusing to do a "worst of 2018" video to giving up on letter grades. I think in the near future, he's going to stop reviews altogether to focus on filmmaking.
When watching films is your job you end up losing your prospective, and being a filmmaker makes it even harder to see things with fresh eyes. That's why i think the audience score is better than the critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Zach Goff “from refusing?” Lmao. He gave his explanation. I think his dream is to be a film maker and he’s working towards that. Not to just be a RUclips movie critic.
James McAvoy's performance alone makes me want to give this film a 9/10 at least. I did enjoy the ending, especially McAvoy's performace. It made me shed a tear how his character was referencing the light. Man... such a strong performace, by everyone really.
Anthony .O Pretty Sure After Earth, The last Airbender and The happening wasn’t mixed reviews, pretty universally accepted as bad movies. I bet Micheal Bay makes his movies as well, doesn’t necessarily make the good films nor should it
@@bryanbrowder2609 definitely not as good as Unbreakable ( although it could be). I slightly prefer Split over Glass. Still Glass is a great movie and enjoyable one.
I hope you don’t stop grading movies. I like having a letter grade to tie to the review, especially because sometimes I’m not entirely sure how you felt about the movie based on the review, but then the grade clears it up for me. Like this movie for example, I have absolutely no idea what grade you’re going to give it and I really wanna know.
Wow, an actual civil comment against his notion. I kinda get what you mean but I am team NoGrade. The letters have been nice but some people are abusing it, skipping to the end as if none of what he said really mattered. And a grade is just a reflection of what he already reviewed, so why bother?
Sy Ali its a good summary of the review itself, his critiques and commentary sometimes aren’t enough or too vague to understand how he really felt about the movie. It gives a specific rating to something and gives us something to compare one movie from another so we know if he liked interstellar or inglorious bastards more, etc. without grades we wont know how much he really liked a movie in comparison to others, just a general idea of how he felt.
@@Qwertzalcoatl I don't know why everybody thinks that people who like the grading system just skip to the end. I watch his reviews to hear his thoughts and opinions because I respect his thoughts and opinions. The grade at the end just gives a more clear response to what he thinks of the movie overall. I like the grades!
I saw the movie before even seeing the review and throughly enjoyed it. I feel if I’d listened to him I would have missed out. I thought the ending was genius personally but what do I know 😒
It wasnt genius it was a subversion of the normal super hero movie ending that doesnt make it genius. Yes if he was trying to make a point that in the real world there isnt gonna always be a happy ending that's fine but the movie didnt do David or Elijah enough service to make that ending satisfying. At least that's how I feel after a second viewing other than that I think shyamalan is a masterful writer and director I just think that in trying to be unique he squashed the emotional tension between David and Elijah. I thought the beast was handled well however
i totally agree with you. most of the time, film critics don't understand that some films are set-up to something better that will make them realize the film they're watching now is actually pretty great.
Everyone is saying Chris sounds sad or monotone in here and has for a while. Well like he said, if you had an entire year of films you were looking forward to and all of them ended up disappointing then I don’t blame him.
I’ve been a subscriber since he started, and his reviews are one of the best parts about the movie experience. Being able to listen to someone’s critique about a film like there your friend, is in itself an aspect of the Cinema experience; therefore the beauty of movie making . His reviews got me into loving film in the first place, you can see it in him how much he loves it, bringing his wife, friends and even finding fans at theatres! but if the passion is gone all is lost, Chris thankyou for your dedication and hard work all these years!! Even if you decide to peruse other avenues besides RUclips I support you!
Shyamalan created the story and gave it the ending he wanted to, why is that so hard to deal with? You guys are too used to Marvel's crowd-pleasing, predictable endings. This one was supposed to be different.
Disagree, M. Night could have made a movie that had an ending which was unique and different while providing a proper satisfying closure to those who have wanted to see and unbreakable sequel for almost 20 years but instead he shit the bed and gave us a finale that was a massive fuck you to the audience with something so unsatisfying and even unwarranted
I don't even really understand this point. Unless there's studio tinkering, all filmmakers give the story the end they want...does that mean we automatically agree with their choices? I personally enjoyed the film, but saying "it's how he wanted it" has no persuasive power to anyone who didn't.
@@geojmartinez Fair enough. maybe he very much disagrees with Shyamalans view of how the world works. Or he thinks he wants something that he really doesn't. The Story does break some archetypes and is self aware. The villain being the psychologist (symbolic of our current power structure) may be what doesn't sit well with him. Considering people in media will tend to lean left politically, it only makes sense critics didn't like it.

Same. Love Chris! Not giving any 2018 movies an A+, wondering if he should remove ratings, and no top 10 worst list of 2018 is different though. Lol he'll be fine
I'll say the biggest question mark in this movie was only the psych ward scenes and how certain things was handled by the guards and glass. Besides that the ending was done right; Casey and Kevin shared a moment at the end; Elijah justified his purpose, and Dunn protected as much people as he could.
Just watched it and loved it. I understand where critics are coming from, but I loved it nonetheless. The decisions made in the movie may not have been the best, but the end result is enjoyable and interesting. :)
ITs an awesome movie, I think the only people not happy with parts of it will probably be people who wanted a conventional outcome from an unconventional director. It is def a great movie and easily as good as the others in the trilogy.
This movie was terrible. This is coming from someone who loved Unbreakable and Split. The 3rd act made me feel like I was watching The Last Airbender again. It was embarrassing to watch.
Hey There I feel like it wasn’t the outcome that made people dislike the film, but rather the steps and scenes leading to that eventual outcome. Personally, I don’t feel like killing them was the right decision directing-wise, however that’s not what people have a problem with. It’s that a hulking beast was taken down with one bullet, an Unbreakable man drowned in a puddle, and a mastermind fell out of his chair(so much for super). I understand there’s a bit of poetic irony in those events but as he addresses in this video, the ending just feels underserved. The characters weren’t used to their full potential. This movie was something that many people have been waiting for and it just wasn’t what a lot of them wanted/expected. Also, as far as Shyalaman twists go, this one was kinda weak. A secret organization stops people from realizing that superpowered people exist...ok. I like that Elijah was ultimately working an angle and accomplished his goal but considering how smart he was, you’d think he could’ve thought up a plan that ended with his survival(unless he wanted to die or something). Ultimately, this movie was a huge letdown for me. I understand it had high expectations to live up to, especially with its predecessors(Split and Unbreakable) which set the bar pretty high. At least Dbs Broly was a good movie.
@@carrotslayerx5241 SPOILER ALERT yeah but Bruce Willis' weakness is like kryptonite, he was weakened by the tank of water he almost drowned in and if he didnt have issues with water that affected him like that then he'd be an ordinary person when It comes to his reaction to water, but water has always been something that can easily hurt him, like superman and kryptonite. Its not that he needs a lot of water to get weakend by it. Thats why its his weakness, and Glass didnt even leave the house as a kid for a while because it was explained he is super fragile , just like how if that light was dropped on his legs it would have broken them so yea if a regular person falls of their chair onto their knees they would get hurt to a small degree, a senior citizen would def get hurt, so someone like glass who's bones break with just about anything, he is super fragile, of course he'd get hurt from falling. I think people wanted the third act to turn into the avengers. But just because this final movie took years to come about doesn't mean it needed huge events, the good story is the satisfactory ending I think. You see these characters all question who they are and then they believe in themselves and overcome that and in believing in themselves that is their full potential, to value who they are and their existence.I also think its a testament to the story that people want more and that is why they were disappointed in the story. They wanted more, but you may have wanted a certain outcome for the beast and Chris another so on and so forth everyone wants something but its Nights story and the ride he takes the viewer on is very complex. Its more about the thinking these movies than the visual. That is an incredible arc, they also have their glory now because everyone knows, this was always a more grounded story. The first two were also small scale stories. I will say, since they did prove they were super human, and her tricks didnt work, Then that means the beast did survive a deadly gunshot blast in split so why would he get wounded now. I assumed that maybe it was a special bullet when it happened. Thats the one thing I thought could have been better. I think though people just wanted to see Bruce Willis win, that's what everyone really wanted and is eluding to when they say they wanted to see more happen. - EDIT, I saw another posters comment on another review and they said the reason the bullet killed the beast was because he was softened up with that love when he got shot, he wasnt the beast when he got shot, thats actually right, makes perfect sense.
JeremyJahns - Good Time if You're Drunk Chris Stuckmann - huh ...Interesting. Also it's ok if you do away with grades-I no longer do them myself starting with my review of Incredible Hulk. It's just easier to talk about a movie without having to rate it at the end I think.
@@deleted663 a review doesn't need a rating. Plus how many of you viewers just fast forward to the end FOR the rating without having any of the context to go with it? So....no rating, you're forced to actually watch the review to understand their view point. After all, you're just sharing an opinion on a film. What power does a rating hold? People will see a film regardless of what a critic says. So.....to me it just makes sense to not have them. I don't care about backlash, and larger reviewers shouldn't either. Though I'm happy Jahns was able to joke about the backlash he got for giving Suicide Squad a buy on blu ray his second highest score despite how bad of a film it is even on a technical level lol. But even still, a rating doesn't mean much in the end.
I for one always look forward to the movie grades. Its just like looking forward to Rotten Tomateos percent grades or the audience grades that comes with them.
Chris i want you to know even if you haven’t been able to make your own feature, you inspired me to pick yo the camera. The way you talk about movies is so amazing for me and i wish you all the best luck in your quest !
Just saw it,not sure why all the hate,is it perfect,no but it actually made sense in a comic book sort of way and mr glass says it perfectly, this was always an origen story
Epic, and all the actors and M. Night again; killed it making this story! I'm impressed how originally Split was a spin-off of Unbreakable, but this one is a true sequel to both of them. Truly nailing that task, and shifting enough to one style or the other when necessary. It was so good to see the evolution of David's life, and with Joseph now at their shop, the "Dunn Home Security." Plus seeing Joseph all grown up and played by the same actor was a really good surprise since it wasn't a given, since so many years had passed. David's necklace with the ring as part of his crime fighting uniform representing his love for his late wife is a nice touch too. As is the name some civilians were calling him now, "Overseer," which is my favorite of them because it has two meanings, the second and less obvious is relating to his power to see, in a sense, the wrongs someone has done. I also found it neat how Night connected the characters he played from both movies in this universe, prior to Glass, being in fact one and the same. Now, when the Horde comes into the picture and is still abducting young girls as they did a few weeks prior with Cassie, I couldn't help but get excited about when these two would clash. And it was awesome it happened once so soon in the film, and was actually a nice appetizer. Dr. staple's arguments and theories were really well written and actually did make me second guess and rethink the previous two movies for the slightest bit, but the level of how spectacular these two are, it just couldn't be. The doctor is so manipulating, and you come to really hate her, once you know what's the truth with the plot twist and how she was in on everything relating to these extraordinary people the whole time. Impressively, this is another movie you could watch the first time and get one view on it, and then the second time I have a different read on everything, especially with the doctor; how she is trying to confuse her patients and eventually get them killed if they don't stop believing in themselves. Even manipulates her whole staff or Cassie to get the Horde killed. I think the ending really works when it comes to the Beast when he turns into Kevin, Kevin who always wanted to die and says. He sees that he's in a lot of pain and yes, you could probably change it to the Beast and probably survive it, but the thing is he wanted to die, so he stayed in the light with Cassie hoping that would be his end. The ending is very emotional, it's so sad to see David struggling and Joseph realizing they had drowned his father. And although the story was very dark, it handles its levity really well, even having laugh out loud moments and finally ending in an uplifting, hopeful way where Elijah outsmarts the organization, and opens for you to contemplate what the future will be of that world. It's a 10/10!! Sidenote; the fact Mr. Shyamalan found a way to use, but also repurpose, two deleted scenes from Unbreakable for a different context is incredible! He incorporated them as flashbacks here, and to add more to Mr. Glass' tragic past and psychology as he seemed to be traumatized by the time he was helpless on the ride and got his bones broken.
I did too which is why I dont understand the hate some of his movies get. Signs, great twist? No but I thought it worked fine and other than that the movie is fantastic. The village, very interesting twist that I thought worked great while also being strange.

Just saw it last night. Not what I was expecting, but definitely a good conclusion to the trilogy. I do wish it was more of a chase film, where David chases Kevin throughout the city, with Elijah eventually teaming up with Kevin and causing more chaos. The ending, aside from the final twist, was I thought realistic and a bittersweet conclusion. What I do love about Shyamalan is how he isn’t afraid to take risks. When he misses, he misses hard, but when he hits it, he knocks it out of the park. Just look at unbreakable, the sixth sense, signs, or the village. Sure, they may not be perfect, but they do keep you invested
I feel like you can tell Chris didn’t really want to talk about this today. This review seemed off and he still seems conflicted on how he felt and it kinda made it hard to watch. It’s almost seems like he just wanted to get this out there without giving himself time to think about the movie and flesh out his opinion. Chris, if you’re reading this, just because you saw the movie early doesn’t mean you have to review it early. Feel free to wait to watch it again or have time to think it through or just not review ir at all if you don’t want to. I got to see the movie already, but I keep going back and forth on how I felt about it. I think a rewatch or even just giving myself a few days will change and form my opinion.
No character should be sidelined though, it's not a question of which has the spotlight, it's just a question of what makes characters interesting and useful to the plot. By sidelining such an important character, it takes away from the plot. Just because Spiderman is about Spiderman doesn't mean aunt may shouldn't matter. I think this argument is just bad logic
Nothing do with being sidelined, clearly Willis struggles be in a movie all the way through as he's knocking on, plus he's deaf as a post and that can't be easy either, so his performances are either fleeting or phoned in
Wow, based on Chris’s non conclusive review I was just going to avoid it. Sounded like he went from wanting to give it an A at the beginning to wanting to give it a D at the end. So the ending doesn’t ruin the entire movie as Chris suggests?
watched it with my gf. the part where Casey speaks to Kevin made me cry.. she whole heartedly believed love could change Him.. this movie's dialogue was phenomenal, specifically with it's use of pronouns.. beautiful flick
The thing about Shyamalan is that he experiments so much that sometimes he create absolute greatness and sometimes utter crap and sometimes a conflicted movie. That's why I respect the guy. He is giving cinema something different than the run of the mill movies we see nowadays.
Myztik No I’m referring to the Shamrock gang, the whole RUclips scene was easy to see coming even without the scene of him coding by the simple fact that the movie continued rolling
Rewatching this film in 2023 through a different lens. I have a strong feeling that Bruce Willis' condition was already escalating during filming which likely explains his character's reduced presence in the storyline as well as the overall performance of his role. Honestly it could have even contributed to the choice they went with for the ending to prevent companies pushing for another sequel to continue the character's storyline. Just a thought. Either way it is really quite sad how it all ended knowing his condition today. 😢
I really love your videos and appreciate the free content so I have nothing to complain about, I would be very disappointed if you did away with the letter grade system. It builds structure for a review in my opinion. Leaves us with a feeling of assurance . I totally get it that you don’t wanna 💩 on movies in a top 10 worst your giving respect to other hard working directors like yourself, but I see the letter grade as respecting your audience with a written in stone mark of approval or disapproval similar to what Ebert and Siskel did obviously you can’t do that so you did the second best thing to do letter grading system. Chris does sound a bit tired, but I think people are calling him out because he was disappointed in a hyped movie that most people haven't seen and have been able to form opinions on it. Guys, he was so excited for this movie, he even mentioned how pumped he was in numerous videos. Seriously he's been acting exactly like this in many recent videos, but everyone calls him out on it because they wanted him to give this film a positive review.
James performance was out of this world he was the biggest highlight of the movie. Loved the cinematography as well! The movie is an Introduction for series of Glass & have a great concept: you are an extraordinary-creature believe it & don’t let any one let this believe down.
Chris, why are you reviewing the disappointing blockbusters and wide-release movies but not the movies that you actually liked that add something meaningful to cinema, such as Roma, If Beale Street Could Talk, or Burning?
@@boomstickcritique902 Then I would rather Chris just straight up say, "I will NOT be reviewing the genuinely artistic and meaningful films because I am more interested in getting views and money from the mainstream idiots than I am interested in film as an art form."
@Chokwe I'm not critiquing the films themselves. I'm critiquing Chris for not reviewing movies other than the mainstream ones, even though he clearly likes and saw better movies that he chooses not to review because he doesn't want to seem too distance from the mainstream which is ridiculous and absurd.
His dead-faced review of "Infinity War" last year shocked me, and he even admitted near the end of last year that when he did repeat viewings of it he realized that he *should* have taken much more pleasure from it. He is getting too analytical and "serious" about this stuff. It's the f**ing movies. It's supposed to be fun.
@@AnnusMirabilus It's supposed to be fun but what kills it is having to see almost every film that comes out and knowing that you won't get fulfilled by all of them. That's where I can see Stuckmann losing his interest in reviews on a subconscious level. But since he has such a huge following that associates him with this particular style, he has no choice but to retain it or change it and risk alienating some of his audience. If he gets paid for this gig then that's a different story.
The more involved you become as a film maker not wanting to alienate yourself in the industry with bad reviews the less effective you are as a film critic not wanting to call a spade a spade. No 10 worst movies of 2018 made me worry because feelings get hurt when giving honesty in any review. U might as well work for collider at this point and join the club of ineffective movie reviewers. Make movies or be a movie critic, you cant be both

It seems like Shyamalan only makes either great decisions or terrible decisions, there is no middle ground.
Mr Shambleface he’s not made a ‘terrible’ decision with this film. This film is the middle ground. So is The Village
@@kinnexion the village is filth! Nonsense! End this!

@@kinnexion The Village was shit
What I loved about the fight scenes was it felt like humans fighting, not superheroes.
Absolutely agree, nothing I love more than just humans turning cars over, breaking watertanks inside walls, running full speed on 4 legs.

The second act did focus on Kevin more than the other two, but he didn't really have an arc in those sequences.

Thank you for writing that down! 100% agree.
I didn't feel like Glass was Mr Glass' film. I felt like I was watching Split 2 (because McAvoy clearly is front and center)... fucking with Glass. Overall, I found that movie badly written (except everything surrounding Kevin) and not even 100% well-crafted.

Nah, objective ratings for something that affects us on a subjective level is an inherently flawed concept.

Sy Ali its a good summary of the review itself, his critiques and commentary sometimes aren’t enough or too vague to understand how he really felt about the movie. They did, but his music was interpolated for the music.
The ending was sad but to me felt right. It felt grounded I guess

The only movie Roger Ebert decided not to give a rating was the first Human Centipede.

Same.
@@sykes13ify I got last Airbender flashbacks as well! I wish Bruce Willis would either give up acting or actually try.
Chris is becoming less fanboy and more technical 🤔
Why would you not want technicalities in a film review? Just look at some percent scale on Rotten Tomatoes if that's the extent of info you want.
Just wait until the next Disney star wars

...Interesting. Also it's ok if you do away with grades-I no longer do them myself starting with my review of Incredible Hulk. It's just easier to talk about a movie without having to rate it at the end I think.
Ace Coordinator Mary that’s now how reviews work...
Plus it saves you some backlash.
Ace Coordinator Mary I just prefer ratings but I completely respect you’re opinion.
This movie kinda sucked, ending literally destroys the film
Because critics are bunch of disney scum
Whatever you do, it is impossible to defend The Last Airbender....

@@brandon17760 This movie is weird. He is not on the fence, he honestly need time with it.
I think having Bruce Willis sidelined was the point, he had his movie. Mcavoy had his movie. This is called glass for a reason.
But McAvoy again had a dominant role in this movie, just like in his own movie. It wasn't a perfectly balanced movie
@@HABO2210 To me, balance goes beyond screen time, it is more about the impact the character has on the story in its entirety
Nothing do with being sidelined, clearly Willis struggles be in a movie all the way through as he's knocking on, plus he's deaf as a post and that can't be easy either, so his performances are either fleeting or phoned in

watched it with my gf. the part where Casey speaks to Kevin made me cry.. she whole heartedly believed love could change Him.. this movie's dialogue was phenomenal, specifically with it's use of pronouns.. beautiful flick
Please don’t get rid of the grade system. You have always done it right.
The thing about Shyamalan is that he experiments so much that sometimes he create absolute greatness and sometimes utter crap and sometimes a conflicted movie.
That's why I respect the guy. He is giving cinema something different than the run of the mill movies we see nowadays.
The Last Airbender was unforgivably horrible and what risks did he take with After Earth?
@@raymondwatt9773 The Last Airbender is a pile of shit that should have left the franchise alone and I think casting the Smiths is always risky.

Thank you for your time I do love this channel it’s helped me more than you know.
I've subscribed to Chris Stuckman for many years and I've enjoyed watching him evolve over time. I respected his decision to avoid making a video for Worst Movies of 2018. Chris, why are you reviewing the disappointing blockbusters and wide-release movies but not the movies that you actually liked that add something meaningful to cinema, such as Roma, If Beale Street Could Talk, or Burning?
Because thats not how it works if you want views an people to watch you you have to review more well known an popular films.
@@boomstickcritique902 Then I would rather Chris just straight up say, "I will NOT be reviewing the genuinely artistic and meaningful films because I am more interested in getting views and money from the mainstream idiots than I am interested in film as an art form."

He seems to find no joy in reviewing movies nowadays
Michael G not always. That's like same rap now just needs to sound good
The more involved you become as a film maker not wanting to alienate yourself in the industry with bad reviews the less effective you are as a film critic not wanting to call a spade a spade.
