It is hard to enforce, there is limited legal authority enforce non-movement violations. Then you are paying $50k-$100k to have a human do that. Then you have to worry about very expensive lawsuits, and court cases are not cheap. Finally, fuel is barely any profit and other amenities are what keeps stops in business. I drove for 42 years, not once did I ever block a fuel island or scale ! I always treated others the way I would want to be treated, even if I was hauling doubles or triples at 2 or 3 in the morning and really needed to use the men’s room and there was no where to park I would pull pass the pump and park where you park after fueling, so to leave the pump open and then be back out before anyone would be fueled ! I'm a new driver, been out here on the road for a little over a month now. Absolutely love it by the way. Your right it's absolutely infuriating, people blocking the fuel islands. There's absolutely no reason for you to go into the store BEFORE you get your fuel. Zero!!! I understand getting your fuel, pulling up to the line & going in to piss & grab something to eat/drink quickly. 15min tops inside. If you have to drop a deuce and/or go in to order some fast food. Go park!! It literally takes 5min to find a spot & park it. N this is coming from a brand new driver

I dislike most new drivers Jimmy, but you I respect for not being like this new generation of drivers...but where you're wrong is, you seem to think it takes 5 minutes to park...for people who knows how to, but the problem is, and I'm sure you are aware of this...these "steering wheel holders" today, it takes 15 minutes minimum to park, that's why they block the fuel line
Good luck on your trucking journey

    • @walterburger5281

Many of them are divorced (some many times) and their kids won’t speak to them due to their selfishness and narcissistic behavior. As you can see in these videos, many of them think that they are in no way whatsoever at fault, YOU ARE because you should be okay with the fact that THEY are inconveniencing you. Definitely.. when I started driving in 1991 we were all family.. respectful, considerate, we would talk laugh and argue on the cb for hours and that made the hours fly by; the cb was never quiet. We would convoy 10-20-30 rigs across 2-3 states in the middle of the night while cutting up on the cb. Drivers would pass you, u would flash your headlights and they would respond back with flashers to say thank u, we would let each other in at road constructions, parking at fuel islands wasn’t even a thing back then. Like me, most of us “old timer knights of the road” have either retired, are getting ready to retire like myself or have sadly passed away. It’s a different world now in 2022….it’s all about entitlement and the “me first, Generation Z, no respect crowd”, sadly. And it’s going to get much worse…so glad I will be retiring in Dec 2023.

What's happening to professional drivers? I mean I never had to wait back in the 90's for drivers in the fuel isle. It seems like the profession has gone to liquid feces and respect for others has gone out the window. Shippers must have gone lenient on deliveries because I did not have time to mess around in a truck stop. I mean if I was an hour late on a load it could lead to my load being rejected, and I definitely could not afford that especially driving a reefer.

That's when I followed him inside and blew a gasket. Steering Wheel Holders are a cancer in this profession.

I can't wrap my mind around how people can be so inconsiderate to others. You don't know others circumstances their going through and if they can afford to wait for your order to be cooked at McDonald's. You can say they should manage their schedule better but you don't know if their doings or not. I've had to run tight schedules because of late dispatches, officers taking their time on inspecting, sit at a stop on the freeway because of accidents, etc. People need to have better respect for others and be considerate. If anyone's the type of driver trying to normalize breaks on the fuel island, I hope someone records you and your company sees it and fires your self-centered ass
